I haven't joined a tourney for a while and have felt like diddling a little in HC (and these rules look simple enough) so I'm in.

I rolled a Paladin with an Act2 Thorns merc. :p

Well after having a fairly extended break from D2 due to a couple of issues (to sum it up, Uni and lack of motivation). I can say now that this tournament has caught my fancy very much so and has enticed me to return to the wonders of D2.

Now usually i struggle comming up with a wierd/unusual build to play, but thankfully this tournament prevents me from going through that process as numbers decide my fate :nod:.

So you can definetely count me in!

I was given (by random.org) a Sorc by the name of Wendy, who will be aided by a Barbarian Merc (i was fearing a rogue/act 3 merc when rolling!).

Should be interesting, i wonder how she will go without a merc until Act 5 :scared:, that will be a challange in itself!

PS. I am playing completely Vanilla, no RWM/RRM or ATMA at all (no extended stashes). Thats how i usually play, but just letting everyone know.

It's nice to be using my dice again (rattles her dice bag). Barbie rescued old Cain and sold her Tome of Identify. Now she's wading through the Black Marsh looking for the Tower, and wondering how that big mosquito managed to carry a large axe. No real problems yet, though a few large packs have chased her around in circles...not to mention Kashya. She's only on level 11 as she's playing cautiously on /p1. Rockity doo!

Ok, I don't have a lot of time to play ately, so even if this tourney ends, I will probably still play this character and see how far I can get.

First I rolled a 4, so i get a Barb

I rolled a 3 for the merc, so I get and act 3 Merc

I assigned a random number 1-3 for the skill class of my merc and I got Lightning, so this should be interesting, I just hope I don't get too many rolls into the Mastery Class :)

Well, I will start him when I get some extra time! Good Luck to everyone who enters!

edit: I forgot to give him a name... I think Korweil. Yep, I will update when I get a chance to start him, probably Thursday.

Aimless Andy, my Druid who will go merc-less until NM Act II (uh oh), is well on his way. He's currently level 11 and taking a breather after killing Blood Raven and finding the Stony Field WP which happened to be right inside the entrance so he didn't have to do any wandering around.

Cold Crow was harder than Blood Raven, by far. I played mostly on P8, but did Cold Crow and Bloodraven on P3. I was chicken. O.o

Stat points are pretty evenly distributed. I've never had a low level character with so much mana! I hope for more Strength along the way, but he's doing okay for where he is.

Skills:

4 Firestorm
1 Molton Boulder
1 Artic Blast
2 Werewolf
1 Raven
2 Poison Creeper

I have no idea how to play this guy. It'd be nice to use those 4 in Firestorm, but I find it too random to really figure out. So he hangs out in wolfie form and bashes things with his gemmed superior club! So far, it works. ;)

Hoping beyond all hope for a skill in Oak Sage and Spirit Wolf soon!

Having lots of fun and planning on playing him again tomorrow! Aimless Andy could use a little direction in his adventures, but he's too adorable with his in-expertise.

Sounds like fun! My first tournament. Allow me to introduce... Napkin the Barbarian, who's hoping to meet up with his lightning helper in Act 3.

Well never tried a tournament, and usually dont play hardcore, so lets see how far i make it! I rolled paladin with offensive nightmare merc (if I'll even reach him :rolleyes:). Named him Modnar now.

Found Pelta Lunata in caves :D Also fell for kayshas trick to cheat me into a rogue merc, but luckily got her killed by a champion pack in the crypts.

Act III merc for a Sorceress would indeed be nasty, but I wouldn´t mind a rogue/sorceress combo, actually.

Against fire immunes and nasty ranged attackers (like in the last act of the game), the rogue dealt the majority of the damage for my Blaze Enchantress.

@JayeM: yeah, Kashya is really stubborn and persuasive, isn´t she? It´s hard to ignore her (almost rude) "Hello!"s.

Well, Looks like the number gods decided to give me a Paladin (Yay) with an A3 Fire Merc (Boo)

Maybe I'll play him tonight for a bit..

I'm always playing in a rpg fashion, meaning that I generate a story for my characters based on the NPC talks and play happenstances. So Hulk is going to talk to Kashya after killing Blood Raven, but I'm going to do the Caves so that Cold Crow is still alive. I'm sure that she can kill a naked rogue just like that.

As Hulk is getting a barbarian as a companion has anybody good advice how to kill the act3 merc?

If you already have a dead merc, Asheara will not give you one when you return the Gidbinn.

(otherwise, I would think that Stormtree´s pack would mean certain death for him. Or maybe you can get a big flayer pack to attack him while a river hydra uses their long-lasting poison on him, so he won´t regenerate)

Looks like a very interesting tournament. I was hoping for somebody to make one with very simple rules and this is just that. I will definitely join in the fun.

So, with this being my first tournament, I hope for some easy combination. And random.org gives me... Sorceress. Hmm, not my first choice, but I guess I can make something out of her. Random name generator names her Sherah.

And sorceress Sherah will be accompanied by her loyal bodyguard, Egtheow, who for some reason doesn't feel like getting out of Harrogath, so I guess I'll have to go get him.

Just saved cain at level 14. The random gods are being pretty mean to me, leaving me with more energy than vitality and only 1 skill point in the combat tree (holy bolt :crazyeyes:) while the rest are scattered into useless auras

Barbie is dead, killed in the Barracks by Bone Vex (+ her minions + a pack of skeleton archers). She had just beaten the Smith and gotten the Malus, but hadn't had a chance to return it to Charsi. She was level 14. RIP

Stats:
STR: 33
DEX: 44
VIT: 41
ENE: 27

Skills:
Jab-3
Inner Sight-2 (useless), Critical Strike-4, Dodge-1, Avoid-1
Cold Arrow-3

But life goes on:
This time with a necromancer named Vincent, who may get a merc if he makes it to Act 5. :)

Okay, so maybe Players 8 is a bit beyond me with HC. :(

Aimless Andy died to a pack of Afflicted on the second floor of the Barracks. The really sad thing is that he had dispatched about 5-6 of them but then three of them, including the CE boss, got him pinned and I couldn't spam the potions fast enough or get into the portal I put up for him. Ah well. :(

So... a Paladin named Slapdash has been born! He'll be using a Cold Arrow Rogue and he won't really be playing p8 after Blood Raven. ;)

After the den of evil "bloodbath", Napkin bought a spear (lacking the stomach for up-close combat). He has now cleared the caves, and is a bit shellshocked from the constant barrage of cold arrows... ("Keep 'em comin! Don't you know this stuff just makes me stronger!??" *deranged laughter*)

I have to fess up: accidentally rolled a 1-10 for a 1-12, bypassing new skill points that had opened up. If there are any consequences for this kind of mistake/offending the random number gods, let me know. Otherwise, I'll just be more careful.

WoG as I call him(Willy old Goat, name one of my friend's dad called him when he pissed him off) has finished Caves, Blood raven's crypts and has reached level 11, I'll make it to 12 by finishing the rest of the cold plains, since I still have a large section to do of it.

At level 8 I was finally graced with Clay Golem, and 6 and 7 gave me back to back skeletons, albeit quite weak with no mastery.

Energy is in my future, and I keep getting at least 1 during level up, and 4 in the case of level 9.

Nothing has posed to much of a problem for WoG, as he equipped a Dirk and put a topaz in it for killing. Blood Raven dropped a decent Necro Shield(+1amp/+1bone armor) so I'm a melee hybrid with 2 in teeth(3 on switch) to mop up smaller mobs and hit archers while my Mini tanks charge forward.

Excellent, I've had a bit of a nagging feeling lately like something was missing in my life and then I realised I have hardly played D2 in the last few months. This gives me the perfect excuse to get addicted again!

Will be entering with Shazza the zon and her cold arrow rogue merc. Maybe I should have called her Xena, although I guess that's more an assassin + rogue thing? No matter, Baal here I come
