Even though the tourney is long gone, I have decided to start a character that will follow the rules here. Thought I might as well post the progress here.
Why this tourney?
I wanted another S/U worshipping character, and OldSoldier's latest posts in the '5 stages of Grief' made me realize it's been far too long since I played an Amazon with a strong Valkyrie. So despite what I wrote here a few posts (and a few years!) back, my next character here will not be a FoH Pally or a Berserker, it will be an Amazon.
So my planned main defense will be Valkyrie and Decoy, both maxed or nearly so. Since I am very likely to at least find
some sort of S/U bow, crossbow or spear, I can build up damage based on my finds. It's easiest to do with elemental damage, so that's probably where I am headed. All of those weapon types are 2-handed, which rules out my original S/U tourney concept, which forced you to always wear as many S/U items as possible. I also want to avoid the stats/skills/resists handicap in the 'Lack of Information' tournament. Socketebles are also different. In Lack of Info, you can socket gems, runes (no RWs, though) and unique jewels. In this tourney, you can socket emeralds, topazes and jewels with the green or yellow graphic. Runes in this tournament are only good for some cube recipes (and before all weapon/armor slots have S/U items, El/Eld can be useful to normalize low quailty items). So runes from Tir to Ith are only good for cubing up to Tal, or for selling. Runes above Pul are useless except for selling.
Merc choice will depend a lot on what I find, plus I need to look up what merc types are left for the SPF tourney merc dodecavirate I've wanted to complete for so many years.
I am already scared of the thought of facing Diablo with (likely) bad damage output and resists!
