to HC pks

Re: to HC pks

I'll tell you a story. ....

PKK is the best part of this game. Unfortunately, there just aren't enough legit PKs running around, so I'm more than happy to kill innocent bystanders until I find another PK.

~Trebol

PKK hands down best part of diablo ii.

PKK'ing and protecting people who turn around and accuse you of being a PK because they are using maphack = most irritating frustrating thing to a PKK = PKK turns into PK.

Re: to HC pks

Quick question.

The Thread is titled "to HC pks" correct? Why are people who don't fit that category coming in here and arguing the validity of PKing? Don't get me wrong I love a PK debate as much as the next person, just wondering the logic behind that.

Shade, I literally cried from laughing at your post. Glad to see Jason also approved :)

Also, making the claim that Blizzard and Max Schaefer made an incomprehensible decision when they allowed non consensual hostile seems weak to me. They've stated why they did so and that they believe it is a key component of Diablo 2. This of course applies only to legit PK, which in all honesty should be avoidable 99% of the time. Go to Town, squelch the PK and take a 5 minute break to grab a beer. When you return he'll be gone as long as nobody is arguing with him, there's no fun to be had standing in a silent game full of AFK people and certainly no ears.

As said before, PvM gets boring, legit PvP is nonexistent so your eyes wander to that little hostile button and you decide to get some duels another way. The game allows it because it was created to, and when your other options are negligible it becomes a valid avenue.

If it isn't in D3, as is likely, if there is an actual functional and legit PvP system I don't think you'll hear too much complaint. This in itself should explain a lot.

Re: to HC pks

I think that regular PKing is sort of fine, since it actually gives you enough time to escape to safety, whilst the brave among us might stand and try to fight against the hostile hunter.

It's the instant-death-illegit-PKing that gets on my nerves as it really ruins public games for me. I'm constantly paranoid in those, and that's not too good for the nerves.

Re: to HC pks

I'm not going by that Shade, I'm going by the fact that the new D3 crew has said they'll be making a game based on what they enjoy and not heeding the precedents of the Diablo lineage. They then continue to say that they don't find PK enjoyable and don't see the point of it themselves. True they do talk about removing "griefing" which to me is vastly different from PK, but I was going based on the combination of the two statements I listed first.

*mutter*

Pansy design team and their peace loving.

Hc pvp will die anyway if life leech doesn't make a comeback

Re: to HC pks

fine... ill admit it........

I got tppked.. GRR

(and now i play sc)
I find HC disgusting, more so now that i read all the replies.

the fact is that (legit) pkers get satisfaction out of taking people's gear and time away.
otherwise you would just duel people from this forum and risk loosing your char and gear.
A fair duel... but w/e.

Re: to HC pks

I think removing PKing from Diablo 3 would be lame. It's not PKing per se, it's tppking and random idiots joining a game with a level 85 and hostiling a bunch of teenage characters in attempt to claim an ear. Fix those issues and PKing is fine. To fix them? Simply add the option for a game to be PvP viable or not when creating a game. For tppk? I'm not sure...

Re: to HC pks

I've never PK'd...and always successfully avoid PK'rs. All the same- I find the "PKing is mean" arguments about as annoying as I found "rushing is mean" and "reaver dropping is mean" folks in starcraft. Any strategy that the game in its current form allows is legitimate & that's why I play HC in password protected games.
