Time to build a new character again, need help choosing. i

Okay, the Holy Fire Ranger seems kind of cool. So these are the guys I think I might make:

- Maul Bear Druid
- Holy Fire Ranger
- Magezon
- Concentrate Barb
- Fireclaws Druid
- Fire Trapper

Which do you think would be the most effective in PvP and PvM? Which is the best for crowd control? Thanks!

-holyfire ranger: A bow using paladin using either kuko skakuko or a demonmachine for its pierce + explosive arrows/bolts.
since the explosion carries the holy fire dmg and those explosive bolts always hit you could hit monsters twice and coupled with pierce you can cause some major explosions :flip:
- Booyakabarb: a leap attack using barb, with somesort of huge dmg 2 handed weapon/ botd thundermaul/warpike/steelpillar/Cranium Basher etc...

@Gaza0469:nice spam session.
And soepgroente(author of the guide) was replying to someone saying ias affected cast speed.

Sorry , my browser timed out and posted it twice.

IAS does not effect cast speed. Goto the Sorc forum and get proof there. It effected cast speed in 1.09 , but not in 1.10. My point was that if the author couldnt even get basic facts right, then its unlikely that his guide is suitable.

Orphan :: Lightning Sorcs can be powerful, more suited to PvM though - for the huge damge chain lightning can do. Remember above I wrote of the damge for skill level 20 , if u had some nice plus gear you could say have Level 30 lighting with all those level 20 synergies and have impressive damage.

My point was that lighting damage is unpredictable, and in PvP this is a disadvantage.

Original poster :: Sorry for going of topic. Back on Topic, all of Jordy's original choices are all excellent choices for your new character. Jordy, maybe you add some hyperlinks for the rest of the guides?

- Maul Bear Druid
- Holy Fire Ranger
- Magezon
- Concentrate Barb
- Fireclaws Druid
- Fire Trapper

I probably wouldnt go for the Magezon... they seem to lack a bit of power in Hell. --> but if you are looking for that challenge then its a viable option.

I dont have exp with the other builds so cant comment :)

Jordy :: Back to you, what base builds are the following? I am also interested in building a fun/effective build, and this seems like your area of expertise :
zealbarb ^^
booyakabarb
Titan variants

I am thinking of going fire druid at this stage.

Cheers.

Out of all of the char builds we have listed so far, which would you say are the least item dependent but still are pretty good in PvP and PvM? Thanks!

Sorry to interrupt the flow of the thread guys, but I just wanted to mention something about light sorcs. Orphan, as gaza pointed out, there are many light synergies in action on a sorc. Using a tal arm/belt/amu/shako/light facetted occy/storm/nagels, and with 8 skillers, anni, and cta on switch, my sorc was doing up to 35k dmg using straight lightning (please excuse the anus smoke-blowing).

So altho dmg can be a mere 2.5k at 20 skill points, things change pretty dramatically further on.

Keep in mind tho, that I've found her to suck hard at pvp becuase of the difficulty in aiming immediately following a telport, especially compared to a specifically built cold sorc (i.e. viper/arach/soj etc).

Sorry about the interruption papasmurf. imo a firetrapper can be pretty powerful if you happen to be wealthy enough to make a fury that already has a couple points toward the trappin. She would have trouble in hell tho, cause of da immunes. My other choice would be a concentrate barb. If you can afford it, give him a botd (low or high, really not going to make a great difference in the scheme of things) or high dmg 1-hand weapon, storm, a high bo delirium, and a lot of small poison charms. High life can last you out a bit longer in pvp, and I've always found the barb res skill to come in handy there as well  . Hope this helps a bit.

EDIT: lol i just reread your question and none of the above is cheap, sorry... hey, slap a hellslayer with a low arreat and string for a booyakabarb and you won't be in bad shape at all for what it's worth.

Just a couple questions. Won't the concentrate barb have a really tough time with crowds?

Secondly, how would a Booyakabarb not run out of mana? Seeing as how you would be LA'ing almost every second, I guess you would have to have a TON of ML which could be kind of costly...

Finally, has anyone ever built a thrower enchantress? I'm thinking about it because it looks really interesting...

Concentrate barbs (that dont use botd, etc) will have a tough time with crowds...but put it this way, they wont die, they'll just take a long time to kill.

Fire druids and bear sorcs are both extremely strong in pvp...but some of the equipment they need is a bit expensive.

Fire druid, like a fire claw druid? If not, could you post a guide to a fire druid guide? Also, I have seen the "Primal Flame" guide on this website and I know he gave you some freedom because he didn't outline really a strict build, but gave you some skills that worked good together. What skills do you recommend? Thank you!

yeh oops i meant fire CLAWS druid and bear sorcs are both extremely strong in pvp...

however, i do have level 91 fire druid that does 12k geddon. Uses hoto, ss, enigma, ravenlore, treks, arach, bk/raven, magefist...max all fire skills and one point in oak. Works well in hell and does very well in pvp. Fire druids are almost as good as wind druids imo.

)pAnda(

One more thing, I think I'm changing my position. I want this to char to be good at PvP. If he's not good at PvM it doesn't matter but if he is that's a definite plus. So out of all of the builds I have listed so far which is the best PvP'er that doesn't need GODLY equipment to be really good?

So far I'm thinking about:

- Fireclaws Druid
- Fire Trapper
- Flaming Rabies Druid
- Dual Claw Kicker Assassin
- Claw/Shield Kicker Assassin
- Vindicator/Templar

Sorry so many choices, I just can't decide. If you HAD TO choose the one build that is the least item dependent but still good out of these, which would you choose?

Thank you!

You should try a war cry barb. My level 58 did 4k damage with a warcry and that was with only 20 other points scattered over its synnergies. I was wearing breast plate nig which allowed for 40 base str and 35 base dex which meant by lvl 85-90, you can have 400+ to vit. Fun build, lotta damage with a skill that stuns enemies. Setback is a low mana pool even with lvl 45-50 bo and war cry costs upwards of 50 mana per cast. If you dont mind using up man pots, this build is a blast. Good for pvp also (Barbs cast as fast as sorcs which means a lot of damage, very fast, to an another character who cant move)

Just my suggestion. I had fun with this one. Expensive tho

4K dmg? That's not half bad...

Could you please lay out what skill points and stats I should sink my points into? Also, would you say this build is item dependent? Finally, how good is it for PvM? I actually can see this build being pretty decent. You would just need a ton of F/R or an enigma...
