For the second time only, I have gotten a HC character through NM difficulty. There were only a few times Stick_Tosser was in danger throughout Act V. The first sign of trouble was in the last level of Nihlathak's Temple, where her party was confronted by Tomb Vipers. Needless to say, she had to finish clearing that level of all Tomb Vipers before reviving her mercenary and taking on Nihlathak. With Venom Grip Demonhide Gloves, her Poison Resist was 80%, but it was still alarming watching her life drain away moderately quickly while fighting the Tomb Vipers...so she played it safe, using Decoy and staying behind her Valk while Tossing her sticks from afar.

Fighting Nihlathak himself was much easier. Most of his minions were lured away and killed, and when his chamber was mostly clear, Stick_Tosser ran straight to him and began jabbing away, using Lightning Fury every now and then to help clear away straggling minions. Nihlathak fell in under 30 seconds. She did take one corpse explosion hit before getting to him, but it only lowered her life bar 1/3 of the way. I'm not excited to see how much it would do in Hell--I'd rather not chance it. If she gets there, she'll do this quest with MUCH more care.

The Icy Cellar had a small population of Undead Stygian Dolls, unbeknownst to Stick_Tosser. Standing at the edge of a mob and releasing Lightning Fury, her life bulb dropped around 2/3 of full, hearing a familiar "popping" noise. Well, now she knew there were dangerous critters here. In fact, the group of undead idgits was Fire Enchanted. At least the boss was still alive and nowhere near her. It could have been Game Over otherwise.

The Ancients had to be re-rolled a few times, because Stick_Tosser didn't want to fight any Extra Strong or Cursed Ancients, and definitely not both at once (first appearance). By the third or fourth time, she faced a Mana Burn Korlic, a Stone Skin Madawc, and an Aura Enchanted Talic (unsure which aura...as all she could see was Madawc's Shout aura). The Mana Burn was annoying, but he was the first target, and died shortly after using all four mana potions. Jabbing Madawc to around half his life refilled most of her mana, and she started using Plague Javelins to help finish him off while her merc and Valk were working on Talic. In short order, both were soon felled.

The Worldstone Keep levels and Throne Room weren't very dangerous. A few frenzytaurs and some Oblivion Knights, but nothing that couldn't be handled (i.e. fried to death). Baal never cloned himself and thus was not much of a challenge. Stick_Tosser mainly used Plague Javelins (when she had enough mana), and spent the time in between castings jabbing away at the prime evil. 5% crushing blow is better than 0%, so the fight at least didn't take 10 minutes.

Saving the Rogue Encampment from an imminent invasion of Hell Bovines let Stick_Tosser relieve some of the stress from her travels, turning cow after cow into hamburger meat. She had to give the Lightning Immune Cow King a taste of Mad Cow Disease in the form of Plague Javelin...such a shame, he'd have made an excellent Big Mac.

The sets/uniques found during this leg were: Cathan's Seal, Isenhart's Case and Parry, Infernal Torch, Rite of Passage, Wilhelm's Pride, Skystrike, and Woestave (eth). The latter two are staying with Stick_Tosser, as they will most likely be used for her mercenary and for Mr_Bone's, when he joins her in Hell Difficulty. The Skystrike will be much appreciated by Meghan, Mr_Bone's Fire Rogue, but whether or not Woestave will be used depends on whether or not Mr_Bone can find anything better during his Conqueror run. If not, Woestave will be upgraded to a Bec-de-Corbin, socketed with an Amn rune, and given to Stick_Tosser's Might mercenary, Fazel.

One more Act complete, three more points, and a bump back to the first page. Everyone must have been out enjoying their Friday. As I have no life other than work, school, D2, and weekly karaoke, I spend what time I have on the weekends playing D2 (assuming I'm caught up in classwork, or passibly so)

Not much to report for Mr_Bone's completion of Act IV NM. With total bonuses, his slvl 27 Bone Spear does an average of about 1200, I believe. Bone Spirit is catching up, already with an average in the mid 600s. The only really dangerous critters that Mr_Bone faced were the Balrog type monsters. They swarm too fast to Wall/Prison effectively. It didn't cause too much trouble, since his fire resist is maxed, and bone armor can absorb 470 physical damage (last I checked). Kill a few with Bone Spear and CE the rest. OKs got brutal treatment, utilizing (thus far) my only use of Bone Spirit. I don't like being cursed with lower resist.

Stick_Tosser managed to find a Dol rune somewhere during her 3 Act run (it wasn't from the hellforge quest...she got a Fal, giving a possibility for Lionheart in the future), so Mr_Bone prayed to the Rune Gods to get an Io rune from his Hellforge Quest. The Rune Gods frowned upon him and gave him a Ko. Useful if he felt like upgrading exceptional unique armor...that no one in my team can use. I'm tempted to either sell it, wait to see if I get another and cube it, or just toss it in the prize stash, as I'd feel guilty to just hang on to the thing with no use for it in the tourney.

As for Diablo himself, it was (again) a very easy battle for the Bone Mage. Stand toe-to-toe with the Lord of Terror and spam Bone Spear. Decrepify was also used to keep the big guy from doing too many of his fire spells and cold whacks too quickly. Mr_Bone recast Bone Armor once to be on the safe side and drank 1 red pot, 2 blue pots. His reward for slaying a prime evil? A rare throwing axe. Yeah...1 rare and nothing else. It wasn't even worth 3k gold. Cheapskate.

Mr_Bone should wrap up Act V by Sunday or Monday night...depending on how much sleep I choose to get. I sure hope to see some other posts between now and then! :lol:
 
After months of inactivity, I decided to pick up again, and did so by teking The Cat through the rest of act II, everything on /players8 except for the Arcane Sanctuary. I did not yet search for Ancient Kaa The Soulless, and will wait a bit with that after what happened to Rimmer. Duriel took ages to kill, but in the end he went down, after using up all my potions, and two trips back to town. Since I haven't played a druid in all these months, it was quite a bit getting used to again, but he did not get into serious trouble.

I've never played a Blade Fury assassin before. I'm glad I tried it. Woo, can Cyradis ever kill things.

Once I gave her a Steel flail in Act II, she slaughtered everything that came across her path.

I picked up Hotspur and the Diggler, which went straight to the stash.

Once better runes come along, a Strength weapon will make Cyradis quite fearsome indeed....

I have moved Theres throught Act 3. This is my first meteorb Sorceress, this is awesome. She kills nearly everything in one hit from Fireball and if there is a Boss she needs an additional Meteor or two (I'm running on p4 here).
But first things first: I started Act 3 with the Jade Figure to get me 20 more life. The Figure was found soon enough from a monster near the waypoint. I then had to search a little for the Spider Cavern. Found that one and my first body part.
The next stop should be the Flayer Jungle, but first I had to go through the Great Marsh and their Gloams. They are not very fearsome in normal. No problem there, just the fact, that I had to explore almost everything to find the exit to the Flayer Jungle, which had a nice layout where the WP was just around a corner from the Flayer Dungeon and the Gidbinn.
After that I prepared myself for a long walk to Kurast. But what did I know. I found the entrance to Kurast (and Stormtree) around the second corner. This was a quick layout. After clearing all 3 Kurast parts and the Sewers I leveled Theres to 30 before entering Travincal. This opened Ice Mastery, Frozen Orb and Fire Mastery. Fire Mastery gave a massive boost to my Fireball and Meteor damage.
With this I entered Travincal and roasted the council. The Durance had a few scary moments with the exploding dolls, but the staires to Level 3 and the WP were found quickly.
In Level 3 Theres had no problems with the monsters there. Including Mephisto. He died to a combination of FO, Fireball and Meteor. He dropped a Milabrega's Rod, a Hsarus' Iron Stay (my second part of this set) and some yellow items which weren't much use.

@Psycho: I just realized, that I have specified Weapon for Theres' Nightmare reward. I want to change that to Armor, if that is ok with you.

Since this is just an exhibition team, It's okay with me, at least. What armor did you have in mind? Polgara made it through pretty well using a Smoke armor...

I thought about a Skin of Vipermagi, maybe a Skuddlers Ire (if I am that lucky to find one, again). But Smoke is a very good idea (especially for the resists).
 
Well, I had the extreme displeasure of having to arrange the remaining items for Sara and Klaudia over the weekend. In the end, it meant that a fair number of potions and gems were switched to the stash. I'm not really sure why I'm keeping the gems, as I'm not really able to craft much. However, I should be able to start cubing charms when I find something suitable.

Unfortunately, no other progress yet, although I should be getting underway on the Foothills with Sara tonight.

Vengence is mine, sayeth March! Regardless of what it was that killed April, I'm pretty sure March killed it good. I made a point of doing full clears for most of act I with him, instead of just killing the portion I come across like normal. It was pretty intense with some boss packs watching my life bulb zoom up and down as I gethit-leech-gethit-leech-gethit-leech....

February has also moved on and killed Meph so I do believe I'll be running him a while now. I'm at work so I don't know exactly what my stash contains but I do believe its close to 300 items now with almost no duplicates.

Duriel was a piece of cake! I knocked it down to players1 for the big battle. Since I'd been playing all of NM at players6, i was doing a suitable amount of damage to make the battle tres facile, as they say in france. or i as i say in french, anyway. :D

after that, i ran through the jungle levels of act 3. i would like to say here that there is nothing more satisfying than running into a screenful of flayers and then watching them all explode in little ice cubes after casting one blizzard. even better is watching your experience bar jump a few notches because those little buggers give a decent amount of exp at players 6. very nice.

quick question: does anyone have advice on which synergy cold skill is best for blizzard? i can't decide if i should go Glacial Spike or the other one. incidentally, i realized that i already screwed up and put points in firebolt as the synergy for fireball when i should have done meteor. ah well, i was younger then.

oh yeah, i also decided to switch from a defiance merc to a holy freeze one. :thumbsup: GG @ HF + Bliz = realllllllllllly slow monsters. I like that.
 
Sara has continued her quest, and is on her way towards extracting vengeance. She cruised her way through the Bloody Foothills, dealt with Shenk and Eldritch, and picked up a couple of uniques, including a Goblin Toe. However, looking at Klaudia's items, I decided that the resistances on her current boots were more important than the extra crushing blow from the Goblin Toe.

We're back in business.

Another update...
Theres started out through Act 4 without any problems (Frozen Orb rulez :D ). If monsters are not killed by FO immediatley a Meteor will do. Izual took some time to kill but he was no problem. The merc tanked him the whole fight. The River of Flames had Udars, Pit Lords and the big Bugs. All fell quickly to FO and Meteor. The smith died although without problems. The Hellforge dropped my an EL (I had crappy hellforge drops in this tourney, but now I feel insulted).
Until now the Defiance Merc was a very good tank. I first thought about replacing him with an Act 5 Barbarian, but now I am considering holding on to him.
On into the Chaos Sanctuary. In the last run I had my problems in the Sanctuary because all my characters relied on melee damage (a Zealot and a Fishymancer), but now it was really easy (FO is very effective). Only the Infector managed to kill the merc and I had to run for it and kill him with a few Orbs cast over the shoulder. He was kind enough to drop a Milabrega's Orb.
Next up was Diablo himself. I went down to players 1 for this fight. As it truned out, that wasn't really necessary. A few Orbs later he was history. He dropped a Boneflesh and a rare Lochaber Axe for the merc.
Theres is a real killer, she gets even more powerfull (and more fun to play) with every new point in Frozen Orb.
 
Sorry...I've had fun looking all all the progresses but i came up with a question which i didn't find was clear in the rules...In the rules, it says that you could only equip one item per milestone (from examples i'm guessing its the end of nml and Nm and hell)...
Does that mean by the end of reaching guardian...You will only have 3 items equipped? Did i interpret that right? Or is that only for uniques/sets/rares...And that you can equip any magical item...
Coz i keep seeing posts where people have said they find all these uniques and that they're a great help to their characters and such...

Hi everyone,

Well, the MFO has ended so it is time to turn my attention to this tournament again. And very succesfully so, because my necro made another level and even scored a point. He found Sarina and the book of 5 stat points. Still enjoying myself with my army of skellies, and now dumping a few more skillpoints in mages to give them some more killing power. Have not needed revives yet, but i use them sometimes to speed things up further.
Found the next (second) Kurast waypoint, and will be off into the Kurast-sewers for my next run. I hate the sewers and my level is already quite high, so i'll probably do that at players 1.
Just a few small steps to go to meph :D !
I am running around with 175% MF, but i haven't used any socketing quest yet because i haven't really found any endgame gear, except for my wand (plain + 2 necro skill levels, which is good enough). No sense in socketing that one untill I find an IST. I could put in a 10% MF jewel i found but that seems a terrible waste (of the socketing quest). My other option is switching out my +1 necro skills circlet for a three P Topaz helm. We'll see when i hit meph how the speed is with and without.

Curse you, Wind druid!

Belgarath is, easily, the slowest killer I have now. Even outfitted with a Steel flail, it seems like he takes twice as long (as Eri or Cyradis) to kill things. (Of course, it could just be that after Cyradis mowed down anything that crossed her path, I have a different standard of expectation).

Everything is in place to take out Duriel and get those last two quests completed, and then I might just continue with him until I can unlock his lvl 24 skill...
 
Sara has reached the Arreat Plateau waypoint, after a slow trudge through the imp infested foothills. She's picked up a couple of levels along the way, and freed the barbarians, and she's looking forward to getting into the caves.
