Destroyer Dead - Sorceress (Fire/Cold) - lvl 57, Act 2 NM. Last Quest: Summoner
RIP - Destroyer Deceased - Palladin (Offensive/Defensive Auras) - lvl 51, Act 1 NM. last quest: Malus
Destroyer Departed - Druid (Summons/Elemental) - lvl 57, Act 2 NM. Last Quest: Duriel

What's this, an update from Whomhead? Yes! It is!

I've finally gotten over the death of deceased, and began playing Dead (Sorc) again. I quickly took her through all of Act 1 and she is currently waiting only to take on Duriel. I'm kinda anxious about this because Duriel has been a bottleneck for almost all of my hardcore chars. We'll see what happens.

The worst thing during all of this was that Dead found a unique Short Seige Bow - exactly the dream weapon for my Ranger. Too bad he didn't make it through the Underground Tunnels. Ah well, perhaps someone else can make good use of it later.

:)...

Cleared the Den of Evil and killed off Blood Raven a few days ago with Dysarinad, the Necromancer. I was going to post that update but the forums decided it would be better not to let me. Took him out yesterday to fight through the Underground Passage after killing Rakanishu and found Treehead Woodfist after searching through most of the map (isn't it always the way?), went back and rescued Cain. In a fitting twist of irony, Griswold dropped Griswold's edge. Decided to take on the Countess today and she dropped a Hel and El rune for the reward - not bloody bad at all. Will level up in the Pit later on before attempting to take on the Smith then move onto Andariel at a later date...

Starm has continued her way through Act 1 Nightmare. She breezed through the Cold Plains and Stony Field, easily slaying Blood Raven along the way.

I then found some time to move her through to the Dark Wood and pick up the Scroll of Inifus. Soon enough, she'll have freed Cain and be ready to "Stay a while and listen."

Mich - WP: Lut Gholein - Last Quest: Killed Andariel
Theres - WP: Dry Hills - Last Quest: Found the Cube

At last I started with Mich. He got some stuff donated from the other two. That helped him a lot in the beginning. With his bone armour and a little amp here and there to support his fighting, he had a really uneventfull journey through Act 1. I leveled him to 18 running the countess. After I got Bone Spear I discovered, that it wasn't good enough to kill stuff, so I continued melee fighting until I reached Andariel. She fell without any difficulties and she didn't drop any usefull stuff either.
Mich is now resting in Lut Gholein getting ready to retrieve the cube.

Completed Act I with Dysarinad, the Necromancer. Not much to report. Imbued a Coronet with 19 to all resists and 38 to Fire resistance. It also had 35 to life and 7% life leech - straight onto my merc and most probably will be used by Cristahlia. Now to level him up a bit more and onto the Amazon :)

Time for an update.
I moved Mich through the rest of Act II. It all went well. Everything died quickly. I had the fortune to buy a Bone Wand with +3 Bone Spear on it, that helped a lot. At level 24 I opened Bone Prison and Decrepify. I had some luck in finding the entry to Duriels chamber very early in the true Tomb.
I thought about a strategy against him. Decrepify, Bone Sprear until the curse runs out and then repeat until he is dead. Not even my merc died when Duriel was cursed and I had no problem to spear him to death.
He dropped a Gleamscythe (Unique Falchion). This is the first unique that a boss dropped me for some time. The rest was yellow junk.

That's a nice coronet, Psycho. I can think of several mercs (and some characters) who would love to have that!

Starm has avenged her sister's death. She has fought her way through the Countess' tower, and passed beyond the stage that her counterpart in the first TWD tourney made. So far, I have passed my previous stage for both the assassin and the sorceress, so I have my amazon to do next.

Starm also continued (she did rescue Cain first) through to the first level of the Jail, and has retrieved the malus.

Hi everyone,

Back after a week of holidays. With hardly any DII, even the MF olympics were not for me. I did do a few Baal runs, but found nothing, and couldn't carry any MF if i wanted to survive/kill. So i decided to get back to this tournament (more important for me anyway).
My necro, The Merovingian continued his way trough the midget infested swamps, and had to clear every single inch of it, and quite a few inches multiple times. So he still hasn't investigated the flayer dungeon, but he found the entrance, and found the gidbinn. I quit immediately after returning that one to Ormus, and receiving my probably completely useless ring (haven't even bothered to check yet). Although my skellies have little trouble dealing with the midgets, i still hate them. It is all getting very boring.
Since i took this long, i found plenty of goodies along the way, leading to a massive gambling session. Gambled a circlet with teleport charges and resists, also a few high defense pieces that may help my barb. Still need to check everything out exactly, hopefully a new update soon, but I am afraid that I won't be playing before thursday night; Clearing away holiday mess tonight, paperwork tomorrow night and my divingcourses on wednesday night. I should find a way to play DII in work, that would be a lot better!

Cyradis - lvl 1 - Act 1 - 0 points (passive/trap)
Eriond - lvl 20 - Act 2 - 12 points (offensive/defensive)
Belgarath - lvl 15 - Act 2 - 6 points (summon/elemental)

A pretty easy clear for Eriond. He's using HF now until he can hit level 24 and start pumping Holy Shock. At this stage in the game, a Steel Flail really kills things very quickly. Duriel was a joke, and didn't even manage to kill my hireling (I guess my HF was better than his DF [demon freeze]).

Cyradis is next, and she's got a nice bow and morning star to help her clear out the baddies...

Noteable finds: Bloodfist, Manald Heal

Woo! Another Guardian trio!

No big updates, the free Anarchy Online is sucking up a lot of time. So is the StarCraft campaign... :o I also occasionally bring out my Conqueror Bonemancer. (Well, he was a destroyer until very recently and hasn't advanced in his conqueror status.)

Zephyr is to L18 and now has a whopping five points. Nobody else has advanced. :)

Congratz, nemar, on the Guardian trio!

As for my two sole survivors + one lackey:

Team Subheroes (Vildecor) – 110 points
Destroyer Stick_Tosser - (Amazon – Jav./Passive) – lvl 53 – Act III NM (42 points)
Destroyer Mr_Bone - (Necro - P&B/Curse) – lvl 58 – Act IV NM (48 points)
The_Weathergirl - (Sorc - Light./Cold) – lvl 28 – Act IV Nml – R.I.P Diablo (20 points)

For Exhibition Only:
The_Weathergirl - (Sorc - Light./Cold) - lvl 56 - Act III NM (44 non-point points)

Stick_Tosser finished off Act III with no problems. Duriel just took awhile to kill after MANY castings of Lightning Fury. She's about to start boosting Plague Javelin once she gets a point or two more in pierce.

The_Weathergirl (re-created to prove to myself I could do better the second time around) breezed through Act II in 3 sessions. Frozen Orb takes care of just about everything in no time flat. She continued on into Act III, working all the way to Lower Kurast this morning. She had a very fruitful clear of Lower Kurast, netting 3 uniques from that area alone (Twitchthroe, Stormstrike, and Rakescar).

Once The_Weathergirl kills Mephisto and travels to the Chaos Sanctuary, I'll do a Conqueror run with Stick_Tosser. Once she's beaten Baal and killed some cows, Mr_Bone will finally end his vacation to do the same. He'll be followed by The_Weathergirl. Hopefully I'll have three Conquerors within a week or two.

Congratulations, Nemar. Another outstanding tourney result for you. Great to see you got them all through this time. Well done!

Not much of an update from me - I mostly wanted to congratulate Nemar. However, Starm did make his way through the rest of the Jail, and has gone up another level.

Perfect score  no wonder you'll be in the Hall of Fame with this one!

Not much to report form my side. Yesterday the Merovingian finally cleared the swamps (and got the next bodypart) to find lower Kurast, which he fully cleared, hoping for a few runes to pop. No such luck though. Did make a level though and found a few more items for the prize stash now at 58 different items(set/uniques).

Franz - WP: Kurast Docks - Last Quest: Killed Duriel
Mich - WP: Kurast Docks - Last Quest: Killed Duriel
Theres - WP: Kurast Docks - Last Quest: Killed Duriel

Theres started out killing Radament. This went really well and without much problems. The earned skill point got saved.
During my exploration of the Sewers I bought a Staff with 2 sockets and +3 Fireball on it. This was the ideal staff for Leaf. With my new staff I got no problems getting the Staff and the Amulet. I used the Arcane Sanctuary to level up the Merc. Theres froze the monsters with Glacial Spike and the Merc killed them. I discovered the Summoner behind the teleporters. He was easily dispatched.
After clearing 2 false Tombs to get Theres' level up to 25. I went into the true Tomb to kill Duriel. He was a piece of cake (on p1). He died to Fireball and Meteor after a very short fight (30 seconds). He dropped only yellow items, none of them was usefull.
This time around I managed to get all my 3 characters past Normal Duriel. It can only get better.

I feel really stupid. I've managed to kill off three HC characters so far this week, all to the same reason - not paying enough attention to my life bulb and not drinking a potion when I really should have.

This time it was Starm. Still high on the satisfaction of having avenged her sister, she continued her way towards Andariel. Looking for the stairs down from level 2 of the Catacombs, she came across a cursed Shaman and his pack of fallen-clones together in a room with a pack of LE hellhounds. The dogs killed the merc, but she killed the boss, and so decided to finish off the fallen shaman before returning to town to ressurect the merc - mistake number 1.

Going back, she was orbing them, and got hit by the shaman's fireball and cursed. No problems, she could just keep everything away by orbing them to death - mistake number 2.

Of course, the stupid orb doesn't shatter or freeze the fallen, so they keep getting resurrected by the shaman, who keeps hiding in his room away from the damaging effect of the orbs. That's OK, I'll just get a little closer - mistake number 3.

Now, surrounded by the fallen, cursed, she keeps orbing them to death trying to finish off the shaman, while her life orb drops. Just trying to get off another orb instead of healing up - mistake number 4. She gets hit a few times and next thing you know, she's gone.

And then there were two. I'll go back to Sara, once I get it into my thick skull that I have to drink my potions.

I offer my condolences for your loss of Starm, Mage11. I too, have lost a HC character or two because of improper potion drinking and the like. In fact, my best HC character...at least the one that went the farthest before dying...lost her life to the NM Ancients for taking too many Whirlwind attacks (2 or 3 in succession) without drinking a potion in between.

Before I post my stats, I just noticed I'd forgotten to add the one (1) point for Stick_Tosser and for Mr_Bone for killing the Cow King in Normal difficulty...at least in the last two posts. So, the corrected and newly updated scores for me are:

Team Subheroes (Vildecor) – 121 points
Destroyer Stick_Tosser - (Amazon – Jav./Passive) – lvl 60 – Act V NM (52 points)
Destroyer Mr_Bone - (Necro - P&B/Curse) – lvl 58 – Act IV NM (49 points)
The_Weathergirl - (Sorc - Light./Cold) – lvl 28 – Act IV Nml – R.I.P Diablo (20 points)

For Exhibition Only:
The_Weathergirl - (Sorc - Light./Cold) - lvl 58 - Act IV NM (49 non-point points)

The_Weathergirl finished up Act III without too much alarm. I was afraid of the exploding dolls, especially because by the time I go to the Durance, the game did the most annoying thing (to me at least) that happens every so often--the melee monsters stop realizing my merc exists. After going through to the waypoint in Durance level 2 with the Undead dolls paying ME their undivided attention, I did a save and exit and restarted at the waypoint. It was much more manageable to kill them at a distance with FO from then on. I was "glad" to discover previously that I could at least take one or two of their death explosions. Mephisto died very quickly with Static Field and spamming of orbs. He's so easy for sorceresses.

Stick_Tosser sped through Acts III and IV, spamming Lightning Fury most of the way. She loves crowds, since the glory of LF is its power in the face of mobs. The occasional Lightning Immune had to be jabbed to death, of course, but no real problem. Undead dolls were no threat to her, since she had two meat shields to occupy them. With around 550 life, she could take a few of them herself. Mephisto and Diablo themselves were somewhat long fights, since most of the time was spent jabbing. She only carries 4 mana potions in her belt and tires quickly of endless spamming of LF at the Act End bosses. Besides, with Venom Grip, she gets a decent chance of crushing blow while meleeing as well.

Diablo was easier than Mephisto, he just took longer. At point blank range, his lightning breath of death doesn't do damage like it does in Normal difficulty (as the first incarnation of The_Weathergirl can attest to), so Stick_Tosser was quite safe jabbing the Lord of Terror, and taking the occasional b*tchslap with stride and a few Super Health Potions.

Now...on to Act V!

Team Anti-Melee (Hiedran) - 6 points
Zephyr - L20 Druid (Summ./Elem.) - Act II - 6 points
Electra - L1 Assassin (Trap/Shadow) - Act I - 0 points
Shiva - L1 Amazon (B&A/Passive) - Act I - 0 points

Zephyr finally decided it was time to open the Monastery Gates and air out the corruption in the Rogues' former quarters. It was a breeze going through the area on players 8. Having L5 Cyclone armor means that most ranged attacks do no damage. Having a pet dire wolf running around means most melee attackers focus on the wolf. The Rogue is doing wondrous amounts of damage, so Zephyr rarely has to lift a finger.

In the Catacombs, I ran into this boss and taught him a lesson about true tempests.

Then Zephyr finally found Andariel and took the opportunity to show her how drafty catacombs can be, especially with little clothing. And hidden in that little bit of clothing wasn't much, as Zephyr found out when looting her.

Next up: Electra.

(Yes, I love all the wind puns available. Expect more of the same with Electra and Shiva. :))
