Another quick update

My necromancer, The Merovingian proceeded to the last waypoint in Act I. No points, but a level was gained! he also picked up a bverrit keep along teh way for the price stash and three isenharts helms. The isenharts were sold though, because there is already one in the stash.

Like Jaffa, my time has been going to another game recently, in my case, DAOC. I'm still fairly high up the list though, and I'm sure I'll be back again in a month or two, since this game always drags me back in. But if I disappear and the tournament looks close to wrapping up, feel free to call me Missing. When I finally do come back, I won't be used to this game anymore and will probably die right away anyway. :xmad:

A short update on my team:

The Merovingian finished act I, killing Andy with ease (still 6 skellies left at the end of the fight). He has a decent map, so he may run Andy a few times for some additions to the stash and hopefully some helpfull stuf. My first drop of her was excellent, about 5/6 yellow items, of which one was actually usefull. I like yellow items, at least i can use them without any troubles.

Among them this belt for my barb:

So with his new collection of items he went out and cleared the den of evil, getting a new skillpoint and the 100th point for the team. A good point to stop.

You know, my one regret from the tourney was not picking 'jewelry' as an item slot for everyone -- my sorceress and necro never used their unique prizes, really, and it would have been nice to use my destroyer and conquerer reward to create crafted jewelry. :)

Not that things didn't work out, mind, but it could have worked out easier. :)

Damn, I could do with those for my barb! That pair of items would probably double my defense rating. Oh well, I guess i will have to find/shop some myself later on in the game.

I did take Morpheus out again, on a nice low players 3 setting, else it takes to long to kill anything. And this is only nightmare!
Anyway, once he gets into act II my other chars can progress towards nm Meph, my first big target of this tournament. So he killed Raven and rescued Cain, so i can at least stop buying Ident scrolls. No finds of note, but a unique bow and a x-bow dropped for the stash. Don't remember the exact types, since they weren't very interesting for my chars.

Sepp has made his first steps into Act 4. He got a few NDEs in the open areas. There he meet multiple boss packs at once (the record is 4 Venom Lord packs at once). Izual was a real pushover. The next interesting fight was with Hephasto. He was Conviction and kept cursing me and my merc with Amplify Damage. He killed my merc 3 times and gave me 2 NDEs. After him, the rest of the river of flames was a piece of cake. Maybe except that Abyss Knight Boss pack that again was Conviction. This one got parked. I forgot to mention: Hellforge dropped my a HEL rune (I consider this rude).
Up next is my least favorite area for all melee characters (with the exception of the Zerker). But for these IM invested areas I have saved up the Demon's Arch (Unique Balrog Spear).

Another update:
Sepp managed to kill Diablo. Cleaning out the Chaos Sanctuary was slow work. At first I tried to spear all monsters to death. But that didn't work as I wished for. So I did a little experiment: I tried Vengence. This gave me huge elemental damage and not that much Physical Damage. It made for slow attack speed too. So I had enough time to react when I got cursed with IM. The bad thing is: I can't leech enough life, so I had to drink a lot of red and purple pots.
With this new trick I cleaned out the CS. The first seal I opened was that of Lord De Seis. His minions were easily dispatched as soon as they left the radius of that Fanaticism Aura. The Boss was no problem either.
Next up I opened the seal of the Infector of Souls. That pack hit me hard. had a nice NDE with his minions. The Infector was FE, so the merc had to kill him.
The Grand Vizier of Chaos was a joke as always. Last but not least there was Diablo himself. No problem here. He just killed my merc early in the fight with his lightning breath. He took some time to kill, because I had some problems hitting him (I have to do something about my AR). But at last he died.

I continue with Sepp into Act 5. The first three open areas haven't been too bad. No real problems there. I had mostly Slingers, the Whipers and undead Archers. They didn't hurt much. Shenk was dispossed very easily and the Barbarians were resuced shortly afterwards.
Then I went into the Passage. There waited a Ghost-Boss-Pack that was Convitiction and kept cursing me with Amp. Nice. The Passage although had Witches and Bone Mages. Apart from the Ghosts that are PI, no real show stoppers here.
The Frozen River had the self resurrecting Zombies, the big white Guys and Gloams (double nice). They gave me a memorable NDE (There has been a boss pack, combined with a champion pack of them). I nearly used up all my purple pots on this group.
After that encounter, Frozenstein was a real pushover. And Anya got rescued. She helped me top off my resists.

Finally, after about THREE hours, Poison made it out of Act II alive. Whew :xeek:

After I switched to Decrep and CE the Maggot Lair went pretty smooth until Coldworm. There were so many worms it took forever. Then after an hour and a half in the Tomb looking for the stick hole the real battle was on. I was only able to cast about two Pnovas at a time before my merc died. When I ran out of money and full rejuves that number went down to one. One hour later the big worm finally died :clap: and for my efforts I was rewarded with nothing of use.

Magic beat the Hell Council and made it to the Durance 2 WP. I made the attempt for the book but had to make a quick exit after being chased by some extra fast spiders who happened to be FI. I bought a zerker axe and crafted this too:

Sara's on the verge of getting a few points. She made her way through the rest of Kurast over the weekend, and finished up in Travincal, having finally reached level 30.

Hopefully I'll be able to get her through to Mephisto tonight.

No real progress to report other than to say I still exist. I've been running the countess for what feels like the last solid month trying to either get or cube up to a Lum. The best I can do after all that is cube up to two a Hel and Io after all that. This has been the most pathetic rune hunting streak I've ever been on, pretty much a pair of El's every time. Both February and April really need the resists from Smoke to survive without an inv full of resist charms, unless I stumble upon better rares.

@tenaka: gamble! a lot! Countess runs usually net a nice bit of gold, so you may be able to gather enough money for gambling.

@ everyone else: Great work, nice to see a lot of progress al across the board.

I also made some progress in the weekend:
Morpheus killed the countess for a amn rune, and a new level. I Found a three socketed exceptional crystal sword that i dumped all my + max damage charms in (+40 max damage, 11% ED). This increasing my killing speed a bit, but i am still running around on players 3 to keep it interesting at least. I guess a few runs on players 5 for levelling should be possible now.
My runs are still very safe, he only drops below half health when under heavy elemental attack. Life is > 1000 now with BO at 10.
I hope he will keep doing at least this well, with more defense, life and damage coming up.

After that the Merovingian tried leveling his new merc, but the skellies kill too quickly for him to keep up. Still the merc made two levels and Merovingian made one. They also cleared out the sewers for a new point and a new skill.
I have now maxed RS and SM with 1 point in all other summoning skills and 1 point in all curses. The next problem: where to invest my next skill points?
I was thinking of Summon mage, and a few points in revive/amplify damage. Any other advice for him would be appreciated!

@Gouda: I would put some points into Dim Vision. I works great against Gloams, Archers, Witches, etc... only problem is the curse duration time. I put 10 points in early and it was the only questing curse I used until Hell.

@tenaka: Give up on rune hunting and use a low budget kit like me such as 3-soc helm with 'RalOrt' PRuby and a 4-soc armor with 'TalThul' Prubyx2 and a 3-soc shield w/ Pdiax3. That gives you +114 Life and +87 to resists. Also factor in Anya rewards from Norm and NM for another +20 to resists. I don't know what your quest rewards were but you should have the rest from rings, boots, and gloves. Bottom line: you need to get active again and catch up with me :xtongue:
