no mistake so bad monster (gloom but i'm not sure english name) and make end game. (3 times before rescue ania). anya reward was very bad as every time.....

Speaking of whom, I've not yet defeated them with Liselle. I'm hoping to have a better run of it soon. I haven't played much lately, and with the new work laptop (which is much smaller and more portable), I'm not used to playing on yet. (I keep hitting the windows key instead of alt, for example). I don't want to make any mistakes, so I've just been item running all day long.

I keep hoping to find a better circlet for Liselle. She's been using a Scintillating Circlet of the Whale (erm, I think. 89 life, 14 res all, iirc) for a long, long, LONG time now. But I can't seem to gamble anything better... and I've tried many many times...

If NM was a waltz with these chars, now I am in disco hell. I knew that I would pay a price in hell for going strong in one flavor with my fire druid and my cold sorc. But I never dreamed I would have to battle so hard for each quest.( I played a lot of HC in a previous life as a 1.09 Bnetter. But never in 1.10). dealing with immunes is such a grind. Lucky I found an ammy with teleport charges.

My sorc has a problem, which is only going to get worse. Her merc sucks. Dies constantly. I went with an ACT II NM might merc. I thought that my cold sorc would chill everyone, so I didn’t need HF, and I assumed that a might merc could kill cold immunes faster than other ACT II mercs. Having never played a cold sorc before, I guess I underestimated how fast things move in Hell. Now she is trying to do the claw viper temple, with fast, stunlocking cold-immune salamander-types. I do not see it happening.

What do you all think of the idea of going with an ACT V merc (NM, of course)? I assume that it is okay for me to go back to NM to get one? Since it is kind of like shopping? I think that they are about level 60 to start. Of course I would have to level him in Hell difficulty. I just found a Doombringer, which her merc could use after level 69 (I chose merc weapon for her second reward). Socketed with an Amn would give him 14%LL.

I would be very interested in anyone else’s feedback on the subject, and also verification of its legality.

P.s. re my last question: I went with the lionheart armor. More useful to more chars than sorc-only Memory staff.
 
ikazushi (cold sorc) was able to complete the claw viper quest, and advance all the way to duriel. she did this with some daring teleportation, and patience when she had to clear areas. lots of backtracking to spread out packs of cold immunes.

now how in the devil do i kill duriel, with a merc that dies in one hit? suggestions anyone?

Unfortunately you'll have to use that mercenary, bigsquid. Perhaps you could try switching him for a Defiance mercenary from Act II Hell? That should assure you a decent level Defiance and he could perhaps survive a lot longer against Duriel as well if he can avoid a hit or two. Life Tap charges would be essential to keep him alive between hits and a fast weapon should give you half a chance at killing Duriel.

He is such a death-trap for Sorcs.

act II is very hard for cold sorc.

1) first you must upgrade you're sorc (for upgrate you're merc). you can make run in pits, for quick leveling !!! level 70 is not enought

2) you're merc must survive ! use only full regev and tp for quick return. have lot of monney for lot buy you're merck

3) don't forget you can buy staff with spells for necro (some spell are not bad )

4) if you're merc can survive, a bow with lot (all you can) of poison damage can be a solution.

but psycho is right, it's a real challenge for a sorc !!!! good luck
 
I haven't made any further progress, but I wanted to post just to make clear I am staying in the tourney. I like that it is a long term tourney. I've been playing Sacred and DAOC lately, but I'll be back eventually.

thanks for the the tips. i will try to get my merc a better weapon, and go with lifetap or decrep charges. if that doesnt do the trick after a few tries, i will switchout for a defiance merc. meanwhile i can level her up. and my necro can do runs in act iii for better gear.

psycho: i assume you are ruling that i cannot go back and get a different NM merc? but i could go back to NM/normal for shopping, right? i have not done that, but i considered going to normal to look for socketed wands for a memory staff.

ps. added an ethereal edge to my prize stash.
 
Hi everyone,

Still leveling and questing with my sorc. Should hit level 50 with just a few baal runs, since i she's already level 40, and just rescued Anya. So Nihlitakhs temple, glacial trail, frozen tundra, ancients way, ancients themselves and the worldstone keep, each probably good for about a level.
I still love act V, even with the more balanced xp/difficulty in 1.10 it is the quickest place to level in normal for my chars (well, the first few levels in the bloodmoor go quick as well).

Minor nitpick...for a cold sorc, I'd advise running the Ancient Sewers (in Lost City)...no cold immunes. Pits will be, well, the pits, for a cold sorc with weak merc.
 
sorry my english is poor, but in my mind it was the last cavern in act one, not the lost city and I think killing monster give more xp in this cavern But I can make a mistake.

anyway I suppose he is not only "cold spell" because in that case, I don't think he can survive in act V.

With a decent amount in Static (thanks to +skills), Polgara had no problems whatsoever dealing with Duriel. The key for her was lots of faster cast gear for Part 1 of the plan, which let her static him down to half. Then she just teleported from one corner to the other, throwing orbs everywhere.

Clever teleporting can help keep your meat shield alive. All you really need is a distraction from the bug, anyway...

Level 70 does seem impressively low, though. Running the ancient tunnels as suggested might not be a bad idea... I was level 80 when I ran him, and I didn't have any problems. All that extra vitality might help...

Actually, the only reasons you can go back another difficulty is to Imbue/Socket/Name and to re-roll maps (I think I recall saying that re-rolling maps was now legal...if not...uhh...sure, why not?). My only advice for finding socketed wands would be to just clear areas without any MF whatsoever. Just plain places...I recall the Arcane Sanctuary dropping plenty of staves.

Well I lost my second character during the past few weeks when I went up against a FE/Fanat Aura Boss pack that I didn't think was too bad, but minion hit me twice I was dead with around 750 life.

My Druid made Conqueror status few weeks back and he now wears the Vampire Gaze which makes him a lot better with 20% DR and life/mana leech + good defense. I am going to start him in hell soon and see if I can get him farther.

Sword is holding back right now and only needs to kill the King to move on. Magic and Poison have moved up to the Outer Cloister WP. I think everything is FI in Hell which makes my life harder. I found a Volcanic Amulet for Magic as well. Now if I could only find a decent weapon and armor for Sword.

This ring makes staying alive a lot easier. But there is a new problem. The Merc is dying a lot. I have to renew him after each boss pack (if the boss has the right (or wrong) modifiers). And I need to find a way to kill these physically immune monsters more quickly.

Finally started to make my run into hell and started with February. Despite high damage and decent leech her merc dies at pretty much every random boss, especially cold immune packs because she can't kill them fast enough to keep him alive. Despite that she hasn't had the trouble that the other Cold/Lit sorcs in the tournament are having. Her chain lightning can kill at players1 in 2 or 3 shots so act II wasn't hard. I've got a knack for separating them just enough to get it bouncing back and forth between two or three enemies. My stash is up to 136 items including this rare that may be worth upgrading for someone:
