'Three Way Dance II' - H.C 1.10 Tournament

Team Renewal - 10 Points
Hera - (Ama Javelin/Passives) - Lvl 11 - Act 1 Norm - 2 Points
Hades - (Nec Poison/Curses) - Lvl 16 - Act 1 Norm - 4 Points
Fogged_Mirrors - (Sorc Lightning/Cold) - Lvl 15 - Act 1 Norm - 4 Points

I am now into double digits! My playing time will substantially increase today, as homework is low and I can play all evening after work.

Hades is rocking and rolling, completing all of Tristram and Countess. He is now running the Countess for runes (Yummmm...), and I can't want to hit 18 for Bone Spear. I've never really had a bone necro, and I'm eager to try out. So far, I love him, as Bone Armor just rocks.

Hera is developing the slowest of the bunch (which is odd, being a melee character), but she just needs some time to level up.

Fogged is just plain humerous to play with. Charged Bolt is seriously one of the coolest skills EVER!

Team Bavarian Forest (AndiDi) – 66 points
Resl – (Amazon – Passive/Bow) – lvl 24 – Act II Nml - 11 points - R.I.P. Duriel
Destroyer Hias – (Necro – Summon/Curses) – lvl 47 – Act V Nml - 31 points
Sepp – (Paladin – Combat/Offensive) – lvl 38 – Act V Nml - 24 points

Hias: WP: Harrogath - Looking forward to nightmare
Sepp: WP: Crystalline Passage - Talking to Anya

Hias has made Destroyer. Killing Baal and his Minions was not a big problem. Act V wasn't a big problem either. The Ancients were disposed very quickly. After making destroyer Hias made a few Baal runs to gain some levels. Baal didn't drop much usefull stuff.
I now think, that my rewards were not placed very good (Destroyer reward for Hias is Armour, what was I thinking?). With the 2 Nagelrings i have found so far, Hias could have become a real MF hero for my small team. But now I have to hope to find a Skin of the Vipermagi soon. Hias now commands a powerfull little army (9 Skellies, 3 Mages, 1 Golem, 1 Merc and 5 Revives). That little army took good care of the Cowking.

Sepp has although made a few steps into Act V. He killed Shenk, rescued the Barbarians for Qual-Kehk and freed Anya from here Ice Prison. Hias donated for Sepp this little gem:

Snake's War Scepter of Slaughter
One-Hand Damage: 10 to 37
Durability: 70 of 70
Required Strength: 55
Required Level: 30
Mace Class - Fast Attack Speed
Item Version: 1.10 Expansion
Item Level: 45
Fingerprint: 0x57286dc6
+10 to Mana
+20 to Maximum Damage
3% Life stolen per hit
2% Mana stolen per hit
+3 to Fanaticism (Paladin Only)
150% Damage to Undead
Socketed (1: 1 used)

Hias socketed this with a Skull for the life leech. This is a very fast and hard hitting weapon, but it is although a very expensive one when it has to be repaired (and it has to be repaired very often). Sepps gold isn't going to become more in the next time (more likely will it become less with all these expensive repaires). But this weapon gives me a Level 9 Fanaticism Aura, which is not bad at all.

Next Up: Sepp will try his best to kill Baal, so both my remaining characters can enter Nightmare together.

Recent Set/Unique Items:
- Nagelring (The second)
- Stormstrike (from Throne of Destruction)
- Angelic Wings (One of Baal's Minions)
- Hsarus' Iron Heel (The third, from Baal)
- Wormskull (Baal)
- Sigon's Guard (Baal)
- Cathan's Mesh (Baal)
- Sander's Riprap
- Arcanna's Deathwand

All three team members are now past Duriel sitting in the Kurast Docks talking about they're adventures and discussing jungle warfare (gherila tactics :)). They're journey through the desert was mostly smooth but there were two hot events. The first wasn't an NDE but it was scary. I reached Duriel's chamber with my bonemage, went down to p3 and started the fight. I decrepify'd him then put a few Bone Prisons around him and started shooting
Bone Spears, feeling confident and safe. BUT the prisons have a 24 second timer. I thought I can just quickly make another one when the first ones go down but I was wrong. When the Bone Prisons shattered Duriel rushed
with demonic speed upon me. I was quick and had time to cast a Bonewall, but I was stuck in a corner and Duriel could reach and hit me through the Bonewall. He hit me 2-3 times, then I managed to TP out. Fortunately
my life bulb wasn't even touched because my Bone Armor absorbs around 500 damage. It's a true lifesaver. It was nearly destroyed though when I TP'd out. Anyway I went back and after that the big bug fell pretty fast.
The second was an NDE with my druid. I accidentaly got very close to an FE beetle boss an shot him Tornados from his proximity. Wow, I was hit point blank with lightning bolts and my 800+ life bulb dropped to less than half in a split second eventhough I had Cyclone Armor up and have max resist. I'll never do that again that's for sure.

Herne (Druid, Shapeshifting/Summoning) - level 28 - Kurast Docks - 12 points
Odysseus (Paladin, Offensive/Defensive) - level 32 - Pandemonium Fortress - 18 points
Elayna (Assassin, Martial Arts/Shadow Disciplines) - level 35 - Act 4 completed - 21 points

Odysseus had a nice ride through act 3. Not that he had to do all that much...

I´m building up Holy Shock as fast as possible. Level 9 now (helped by level 17 Resist Lightning) gives him a very impressive 11-1171 damage attack that is fast as well, thanks to the 'Zephyr' bow.

I am trying to decide between pumping Concentration or Fanaticism. If you compare them at level 20, Concentration would give the merc almost double the damage boost compared to Fanaticism. However, Fanaticism has several advantages:

* Boosts Attack Rating a lot (for both Paladin and merc, as I read it)
* Gives the Paladin a bigger damage boost than Concentration after level 6
* Substantially increases the attack speed for the Paladin at high levels.

Fanaticism has a smaller radius but at high levels this difference won´t matter.

I have also put one point into Salvation. I am very impressed by this skill.

Elayna received a lot of gold (and items that sold for more than 15000) from Odysseus between the last gaming sessions. She has gambled a very nice item: a 39/32 Sapphire Circlet of Luck.

Destroyer Haramis - (Sorc - Cold/Light.) - lvl 53 - Act I NM [37]
Destroyer Anigel - (Assassin - Shadow/Trap) - lvl 51 - Act V Nml [31]

I did a bit of leveling during the last week and decided it was time to move on in to nightmare. I made the decision to take all three girls through Act 1 on /players 1, since there really isn't any exp to be had there anyway. So far, Haramis is the only one who has made the journey, but I'll have some play time tomorrow.

The best news I have is that Haramis has the most awesome Andy running map I've ever seen. I can go from the waypoint to standing in Andy's chamber in a mere 7 teleports. I killed her a few times, enough to gain a level. No really good gear yet, but I have hopes.

Sadly, I was unable to play diablo for the past few days. But now I have some free time and I will be leveling my chars. Not much of an update, but w/e.

Team Stats: 2 points
Dexterity: Level 6 - act1 normal - 2points
Energy: Level 1 -act1 normal - 0points
Vitality:Level 1-act1 normal - 0points

I started on Dexterity today. She has completed the den and blood raven. On my way to den she found a 3 socket short bow (now socketed with chipped saphire/ruby/topaz), this allowed her to easily clear the den. She then ventured into cold plains with a new rare cap she found off corpsemourn. There she found her first regular unique monster, Madeye something,he had stone skin and took a bit to kill. With quite a bit of luck, he dropped a rare quilted armor. After slaying Bishbosh and finding a rare shortstaff, (which will later be given to energy) she walked toward the gates of the Burial Grounds. Blood Raven took a while. It was hard to hit her with all her minions, But Blood Raven was eventually defeated after all her minions had been slain (repedetly). No good drops here but It got her a point and a merc. After a short trip to town, Dexterity headed toward the Stony Feilds. Once entering, she was attacked by a pack of champion crows. After a few minutes of killing off carver packs and crows, she faced Rakanishu, which was a little tough, only because of their extra fast mod. After that she found the waypoint and is now in town.

Next up, Jubilee...

No update, and it will take at least another eight days before I'll continue with my team, since I'm going away for a week tomorrow. I have not forgotten the tourney, just felt more like trying a softcore hammerdin (who's now almost through nightmare) and not like trying too hard not to die.
Since in the time since I managed to get Rimmer killed, I've managed to get one single (softcore, massively twinked) character through normal and nightmare, I really wonder how some of you manage to get three untwinked hardcore characters further than that in the same time. I'm very impressed by the achievements of some of the contestants, especially, since I've yet to get a single hardcore character through normal, those who've managed to do so with one or more characters. :thumbs-up: try to stay alive.

Quote: "I really wonder how some of you manage to get three untwinked hardcore characters further than that in the same time."

"Same time" may be relative to how many hours a day are played. Since Im off work for the last few days, and no wife, ive been devoting some major time to the tourney.

The key to HC is not to run into new areas, and draw too much aggro. Let your merc go first if possible. Also, try and split the mobs up. For example with the trav council I will try and pull one at a time, and draw them back toward the wp, where I can kill them without having a zillion hydras and 5 council members pounding on me at the same time. Same with Lister and group. I dont try and fight them all at once...unless I know I can....and dont be ashamed to retreat...if your merc is getting into too much trouble, tp back to town, and come back to finish em off fully healed. And, very important, keep your merc fully leveld..within a level or so of your own level...let them die regularly,...so you dont have to.

Level up in relatively safe areas, where u know u can own the mobs, and run thru the tough areas for the quests, trying not to pick 'iffy' fights. Dont even attempt a tough fight unless and and until u know that your chances of winning are better than 90%.

And try not to make the finishing blow on an echanted unique...my pally (yoga) almost bought the ticket home last nite, from a nova that took him down to 10 life....couldnt even see any red in the bulb...a real heart stopper.

In this tourney u can shuffle equipment between teammates....a very important feature. When u start to play a given character, make sure he has the best equipment available, maximum resists, maximum def, maximum life, and maximum dmg given the available items. If I hadnt shuffled my few life charms onto my pally at the beginning of the game session, he would now be dead.

Finally, gamble, gamble, gamble. Farm easy areas, pick up everything of value, sell it, and gamble the loot. Gamble till your eyes bleed. Its an easy and safe way to acquire the necessary rares that u will need to survive. I gamble for everything, boots, belt, armor, weapons, ammys, rings, helms, shields, etc...especially in normal and NM. Occaisonally u will even get a unique or set, although they are not of much use in this tourney.

Team Angiras is still working its way thru NM, making good progress, a report will be filed later today. I expect to have at least one Conquerer by the end of the day, namely the zon (angirasa) who is owning NM. She is looking forward to running NM Baal, NM cows, and exploring Act I Hell for her more gimped teamates, who will probably wait in Harrogath till she finds em some better equipment.

Destroyer Hias – (Necro – Summon/Curses) – lvl 47 – Act V Nml - 31 points
Destroyer Sepp – (Paladin – Combat/Offensive) – lvl 46 – Act I NM - 34 points

Hias: WP: Harrogath - Doing some Baal runs for more levels.
Sepp: WP: Dark Wood - Listening to Cains stories.

Sepp has killed the Ancients followed shortly by Baal. Act V posed no big problem for Sepp. He really owned there with his Level 17 Fanaticism Aura. After killing Nillathak and the Cow King Sepp entered NM without any further leveling at a level of 44. His resistencies are all over 45 with his Ancients Pledge shield and a Prismatic amulet. Sepp cleared the Den of Evil for this extra skill point and killed Bloodraven. Bloodraven was no big deal, she just ran around a lot and Sepp had trouble hitting her, but she got trapped and so Sepp and his mercenary finally killed her.
Sepp had to reroll the monsters in Tristram, because he found a Lightning Enchanted Griswold and his 3% life leech don't seem to be enough to keep his life up. But the second try yielded much better modifiers on Grisword, so Seep was able to rescue Cain.
Acaras reward was a rare ring with 3% life leech. I think Sepp will use this ring until he has crafted a good savety ring.

Next up: Sepp will do some countess runs to get a decent amount of runes, while Hias will stay in Normal for a steady supply of chipped and flawed gems for cubing runes.

Those who have bowazons in this tourney will hate me after seeing this screenie
Very nice drop
Also nice
And finally this
I was really lucky. Found Lycander's, Stromspike and IK belt in like 20 minutes. The IK belt was dropped by Hephasto. The Hellforge was disappointing though. Only a Shael. :(
The Blackhand Key is also a nice grail item dropped by Icehawk Riftwing.

OK I also have a problem. I'd appreciate if somebody could help me with this. I reinstalled Windows recently and now I can't host(or join) MP TCP/IP games. It says no valid TCP/IP adress detected. When I run ipconfig from the Command Prompt it says Media State: Media disconnected. How can I configure a valid TCP/IP address if my comp is currently not connected to any network. By the way my network adapter is working properly. At least it says so in the Device Manager.

p.s. I need this to reroll maps, as I think this was allowed by Psycho. Correct me if I'm wrong

The links aren't working, but my bowazon hates you in advance. :uhhuh:

Actually, my bowazon has finally come into her own. She has a decent level freezing arrow, and a Skystrike. I have taken her all the way through Act 1, realizing upon reaching Act 2 that I forgot to cast my Valk all the way through the entire act. Guess that means it was too easy.

Team Angiras: total 173 pts

All day yesterday into the wee hours of the nite, and all day today working thru NM. Finally, I have a new Conquerer to report.

Conquerer Angirasa (pass/javazon): level 73...Act I Hell...65 pts
Destroyer Atharvan (summ/curse necro)...level 63...Act V NM...54 pts
Destoyer Yoga (off/combat pally)...level 61...Act V NM...54 pts

None of the team has had any serious problems in NM, so far. The zon fried everything in her path, using a maxed lightning fury, and killed the bosses using a maxed charged strike. She is now ten levels ahead of the others, who are chilling in Harrogath, while she is exploring Act I Hell.

Im delighted to report that when she killed Baal the first time, he dropped a Hierophant Trophy (Homunculus) for the necro, who will be able to use it once he becomes a Conquerer...yipee!! But the happiest thing that I have to report is that while exploring cold plains (just a few minutes ago) looking for Bloodravens cemetery, she looked under a loose boulder...and out popped a unique ceremonial javelin (titans)!!!!! First time ive ever seen a godly unique pop out from a boulder. I almost passed out at the sight, and literally choked on my pepsi. And it is a 197% titans!...the only thing that would have been better was if it was also ethereal.

The necro (atharvan) is not anticipating any problems finishing Act V NM and also becoming a Conquerer, but the pally may have problems. His dmg really sucks, using a rare dimensional blade that was found somewhere in NM. (why o why did i choose armor instead of a weapon for this guy?...just plain stupid, I guess). Thats one of the main reasons why the zon is exploring Act I Hell, to see if she can find her buddy some elite rare or socketed weapon. She ran NM cows several times looking, but of course, they only drop normal and exceptionals. Withgout a better weapon Baal's minions will chew him up in little pieces before they even begin to hurt. Due to his fatal flaw in character design (choosing armor rather than weapon) im afraid yoga (zealot pally) is gonna die an early death.

Total set and unique items found so far: 81.

Conquerer Polgara - (Sorc - Light./Cold) - lvl 69 - Act V Nm
Destroyer Liselle - (Amazon - Jav./Passive) - lvl 52 - Act IV Nm
Destroyer Zedar - (Necro – P&B/Curse) - lvl 46 - Act IV Nm

Math is getting tricky at this point. :-) I *think* that's correct. Note that these are my actual character levels, and not the guesstimates I made last time. ;)

Zedar speared his way through NM, and is chilling in the Fortress with Liselle. Polgara joined the Barbarians, and went on a hunt for Baal, finally killing him.

She's going to do a lot of leveling in NM before moving on to Hell, my Chain Lightning still does a pitiful 1-694 damage, and she needs a lot more help.

She gambled a +1 Sorc Skill, +19 res all, 6% LL circlet, which was nifty enough to hopefully be end-game gear. She'll probably run Baal and Co. until the damage gets a little prettier. Her merc finally gets to use the Meat Scraper she found (yay!), so...

...of course, now that she's coming up on Hell, I'll have more interesting things to report, I'm sure... instead of pages of 'things went smoothly. No NDEs. No good items dropped, thank Tyrael for gambling...'

Starm is on the move. She has now reached the Outer Cloister waypoint, having slain Blood Raven and the Countess and rescuing Cain.

One NDE in Tristram of all places, as she got hit twice in rapid succession, first by Griswold and then by an FE Goatman. After sculling a couple of potions, she retreated and attacked from range. Her level 5 lightning is becoming quite a killer in a tight spot.

I was feeling guilty about all the monsters I didn't kill in Act I, so I've reverted to my more usual playstyle and intend to be full-clearing everything from here on. None of this sprinting through the quests and doing boss-runs for levels :)

Anubis buried Duriel in bone prisons, and finished Act II with very little problems.

Sekhmet has stopped at the Canyon waypoint, ready for some fun in the tombs. I'm learning how to use Blizzard, having never played with it before.

This weekend's guest set item was the Berserker's Hatchet, of which I found three (having not found any in 1.10 previously).

TDT_RagingBeast - (Druid – Shape/Summon) - lvl 16 - Act I Nml Current Quest: Malus

Although my sorc didn't last long, she was able to find good rare weapons for my druid to use until he got the gold to gamble rares for all his equipment. The druid has breezed through everything so far on Players 8, and just defeated the countess.

I remind everybody that today is the closing date for entries into this tournament. Additional teams from here on in shall not be considered. You have until the end of today to join if you already haven't nominated a team!

I cannot remember how to do this (silly Networking man that I am), but you must add the MS loopback adapter. I'm sure there was a bit about it in the SPF FAQ, just ctrl-F in the thread and search for 'loopback'.
