'Three Way Dance II' - H.C 1.10 Tournament

I'm going to ask anyway. I'm ok with Cleo and Rasputin, but I must have missed the class on Tokogawa. Who is he/she?

Oops, partially my bad, it's Tokugawa. Ieyasu Tokugawa and he was a Japanese lord who managed to politically and militarily was able to essentially control all of Japan (he was essentially a military and political genius). This put him a position such that the emporer felt it best to give him the title of Shogun in 1603(the defacto position of leadership in Japan that often wasn't filled). This was the beginning of the Tokugawa period in Japan, which lasted from 1603-1867.

The only issue I have with naming my character Tokugawa, or Ieyasu_Tokugawa, or Ieyasu, whichever I feel like when I hit create, is that it doesn't seem to fit a druid. If I change my mind before I start the caracter, maybe I'll change the class.

OK, after a fair while thinking, I'm going to be back for a second run - using the same type of characters as I did in the first. Now it's time to improve my personal best from the last tourney.

Of course, I don't have much time at the best of times, and these next two months certainly aren't that for my schedule, so it will be a bit piecemeal.

Introducing:

Team Mage1 (Mage11)
Sara - Amazon - Bow/Passive - D: Weapon, C: Belt
Klaudia - Assassin - Martial Arts/Shadow - D: Boots, C: Helm
Strom - Sorceress - Cold/Lightning - D: Armour, C: Jewelry

With any luck, I'll get them started soon.

I will join, but am not sure yet with what characters.
I do have a question already though, about items which I've never manged to make even with twinked characters. There are some runewords which give a bonus on a certain skill for all classes. Psycho gave already the example of a fire/cold sorc not being able to use the teleport granted by enigma. But what about the use of Beast? A defensive/combat paladin, may not use fanatacism, however by equipping this item (which is a runeword and thus allowed) he does get a fanaticism aura. In this case there is no choosing to use the skill, he just is using it automatically when equipping the item. What are the rules regarding using skills from other classes? Again, this Beast runeword is a good example. Anyone would get this fanaticism aura, even though it's a paladin skill. Since saying this runeword is allowed for everyone except defensive/combat paladins would seem an unfair disadvantage to that class-tab-combination, I suggest disalloiwing this runeword alltogether. Added to that (if this has not allready been mentioned) the use of skills from other classes when granted by runewords would better be banned as well. (otherwise anyone, except the fire/cold sorceress would be able to use the teleport on enigma, which again does seem an unfair disadvantage to a class-tab-combination).
Another clarification, with regards to the choice of jewelry as destroyer/conqueror award. The way I read it now, you can use both two unique rings and a unique amulet at the same time when you choose the jewelry slot once, is this intended? Someone who chooses gloves can only use one pair of unique gloves by comparison. This seems quite unbalanced, it would seem more fair to be able to use one unique ring or amulet, but suposing you equipped a unique ring, and you find another unique ring or amulet, you may choose to discontinue the use of the former and switch to the newer found unique.
In short, Psycho, please clarify some more.

Ok, I can't possibly miss this after playing in the first one, but similar to a few others, due to other tournaments I will be a while getting out of the blocks here. Actually that'll make a nice change from last time where I raced out to a huge lead just to die and watch a number of other guys overhaul me. ;)

Now, about the classes and reward skills. Well, I want to go for three new (for me) classes for Guardian, so I'll go for:

Team Olivier (Butzull)
Desire - Assassin (Traps/Shadow), Des-Weapon, Con-Body Armour
Eugene - Necromancer (Summon/Curse), Des-Weapon, Con-Shield
Marguerite - Amazon (Javelin/Passive), Des-Weapon, Con-Body Armour

Not too adventurous there in the builds I know. Oh, and not at ALL confident about the choices of rewards because I rushed them rather than thinking about likely "end-game" body parts with decent likelihood and spread of items. Oh, well, we'll see how they go.

Butz. :teeth:

Thought I was gonna lurk thru the whole tourney but what the heck

My team name will be "FailSafe" and the members are:

FarSight - Bowazon with passive/bow skills (D: weapon C: Mercenary Weapons)
MeBackHere - Necro with Summon/Curses (D: weapon C: Headgear)
BiggerBear - Druid with Summoning/Elemental (D:Shield C: Weapon)

I'll start playing this weekend and keep you guys posted.

Since I didn’t even create my team in game I guess it is possible to change some item rewards?

Mages of Rainbow

Iarde

Bow/Passive Amazon.
Destroyer reward: Jewelry.
Conqueror reward: Own weapon.
Organization: Blue Order of Mages of Rainbow.
Comments: She shell be frizzing arrow zon, so I need this item slots since I’m going to do my best to find Eye of Etlich and Buriza.

Rose

Trap/Shadow Assassin.
Destroyer reward: Own armor.
Conqueror reward: Mercenary helm.
Organization: Red Order of Mages of Rainbow
Comments: She shell be classic LS trapsin – I don’t know any other viable caster sin build for untwinked HC. So she needs unique armor since there is no magic/rare armor with +skills. I choose merc’s helm in hope of unique/set life lich helm drop.

Delon

Combat/Offensive Paladin.
Destroyer reward: Gloves.
Conqueror reward: Own armor.
Organization: Gold Order of Mages of Rainbow.
Comments: He shell be FoHer. The best reward for him shell be just old good Frostburn gloves and +skills armor.

P.S. I’ll create my team after kill Hell Baal with my Septavirate Necro. He is on hell Act5 now on the way to Guardianship!

Im in  .
This is my first SPF turney and my first HC characters. But I feel, I must rest from MFing :)

Team Petro:
1. Haron - Necromancer (Summon/Curse), Des-Jewelry, Con-Merc Body Armor,
2. AtHena - Amazon (Bow/Passive), Des-Weapon, Con-Merc Body Armor,
3. Hera - Sorceress (Lightning/Cold), Des-Headgear, Con-Merc Body Armor.
Wish me luck! Piotr

Hi everyone,

Tried to delete my druid last night, but just couldn't instead i played him on, and still haven't started on the tourney.

So my team will get changed a bit, if that is okay with all of you:

Team the Matrix II

Morpheus, concentrate barbarian, warcries and combat skills
Destroyer - jewelry, Conqueror - own helmet

Merovingian, summon and curse necromancer. Who needs CE anyway
Destroyer - merc armour, Conqueror - merc weapon

Persephone, fire and ice sorc. Who needs teleport anyway
Destroyer - merc helm, Conqueror - merc weapon

In the demonstration category:
The_Twins: shockbear-summoner druid. Who needs elemental skills (except for strijdje). muling 1/2/3. Now running norm. Meph for low lvl grail items.

Total score: still zero points.

Also, I need a rules clarification. The first post mentioned that items that gave a boost to skills in a tree you can't use are okay as long those skills aren't used. For example my wand I just bought has +3 to golem mastery, which I obviously can't use since I can't cast a golem, so it is okay. But what if my sorceress was to find an orb with say... +3 to Chain Lightning and +1 to Warmth. Warmth is passive, so it doesn't require active use...it is 'always on.' I would assume that this would be a major no-no, as would any other 'always on' passive skills not in someone's two trees, for instance the passive tree of the barbarians. Just wanted to make sure of this.

It would be a Sorc's worst nightmare, because it wouldn't be allowed I'm afraid ;). The same goes with Barbs and items that give bonuses to passive skills in the Masteries tree.

Gladly!

As relates to your first query, the Beast runeword is theoretically only enabled for one class, and that would be a Paladin that utilises Offensive Auras. The rules state that skills on items with " 'for-all-character' skills present on such runewords as 'Enigma' ", cannot be used. Hence, 'Beast' cannot be used by any other class other than that which already uses Fanaticism (the Offensive Paladin).

The question must be begged though, in Hardcore, who would want to risk using a Beast runeword anyway, knowing that death could be one accidental click away?

Concerning jewellery, I understand how this might seem unfair, however, some classes benefit more from jewellery than others, and vice versa for items like gloves, boots and weapons. The idea here was that casters would tend to choose Unique Jewellery over other options, strictly for the chances of finding a Stone of Jordan (for example), or other caster-geared jewellery. It might seem unfair, however I believe it isn't.

I hope this is crystal :)

Time for another update

Team 'The Three Old Men' - total points: 20

1. AngerOfNature - Druid (Elemental/Summoning)
Destroyer - Armor
Conqueror - Helm
Progress: lvl 26, act II normal, 12 quests done (last: Duriel)

2. CatchThis - Barb (Masteries/Combat skills)
Destroyer - Gloves
Conqueror - Belt
Progress: lvl 24, act II normal, 8 quests done (last: The Tainted Sun)

3. CallOfTheGraves - Necro (Poison&Bone/Summoning)
Destroyer - Jewelery
Conqueror - Gloves
Progress: lvl 1, act I normal, 0 quests done (last: none)

My barb was 2nd to act and with a little twink for his elder brother - the Druid - he is going quite quickly through Act I and now through Act II.
I'm very interested how far will he reach. He is a barb without warcrys. His personal goal is to be the best barb in this tourney :-)))

Just as a note of interest folks, I've recorded all of your Slot Rewards down in a notepad file, and your score goes into a well formatted wordpad document whenever you all update. I guess this post is just a note to say:

Make it easier on me a little. I don't need to know what your Slot Rewards are every time you update. I've got them recorded, and the forum will (hopefully), preserve your decisions as a backup. This isn't a dig at certain people, but just a point that I want to get across right now just to make life easier for everyone else too :).

Seriously, keep it as simple as possible, because sometimes it gets confusing. Just a points tally, wherever your characters are and then it's all good. In fact in the last Three Way Dance somebody had the bright idea of quoting the scoreboard from my post, then deleting all other teams except for their own, and editing that. This was a damn good idea...:D

We interrupt this tourney for an important announcement:

==> There is now a giveaway going one from the prizes of TWD 1
==> only 4 people will pick up the goodies, so if you want some, better be quick

end of interruption

Have fun playing,

Gouda

I think i'll give it a try but just got back from vacations, so i need a couple of days to organize stuff and study wich chars i'll have...

I have one question for the moment:

Will MP be allowed?

(sorry if this was asked before, but like i've said my vacations are ended and i'm still a bit traumatized.... :LOL)

Sorry for some n00b questions. I just re-read rules, but didn’t find the answers to the following questions:
1. How will we select the winners?
2. When will the tournament ends?

11th hour update...literally, it's 11 pm over here.

Destroyer Galadriel: End of Act V (27 points + the bonus...bah. Explorer is tooling with me, so I can't look it up)
Boromir: Act IV (18 points)
Arwen: Act IV (18 points)

Yeah! First to Destroyer! Now I can slow right down and play it patient. Unlike last time. Don't expect much further progress from me in the next three months.
And now to bed...I really need sleep! Full story tomorrow.

Multiplayer isn't allowed between characters of this tournament. Unless of course you need to transfer items between characters via MP - if you're a purist in that respect, then yes, but ONLY for trading between your three tournament characters.

1. The winners will be those who have the highest score at the end of the tournament :)
2. The tournament does NOT have a definite finish date. The tournament ends when ALL teams are dead or have made Guardian. If the case comes where many teams have finished in equal places, then other means will identify the winner, namely the lowest level Guardian (or average of clvls between Guardians if we want to get really technical)

Also, congratulations go out to CraZySorc who has blistered the competition. I'm afraid this is my fault, folks. I layed down the gauntlet to him personally, as I know the fellow in real life. You see, he didn't do too well in the first Three Way Dance, so I challenged him and his manhood to give this competition a decent stab this time around...thus, he's first to make Destroyer :)

Here is my last update for today. My 2nd char has finished act II
