'Three Way Dance II' - H.C 1.10 Tournament

team archoteuthis update:

calamari: summon/curse necro level 31
ikazushi: cold sorc (w/light skill accents) level 29
squidonastick: fire druid (w/summon support) level 27

all three have finished acts I, II, III. squidstick finished first two quests in IV.

total points 56 (if my math is correct).

this is loads of fun. what a great break from mindless mf runs. found a tarnhelm for the prize stash. found a nagel (28) and a manald which i may or may not use later--two chars chose jewelry for their first reward.

no NDEs lately. but i can see how losing one char at this stage would deflate ones desire to continue. i understand completely.

OMG! I see a Guardian already. Congratz.
Unfortunately I didn't play at all lately. I'm just too distracted by NWN and school. But I will continue this tournament sooner or later.
I wish all of you good luck and I hope I will get to play D2 in the near future.

Resl – (Amazon – Passive/Bow) – lvl 24 – Act II Nml - 11 points - R.I.P. Duriel
Conqueror Hias – (Necro – Summon/Curses) – lvl 78 – Act I HELL - 70 points
Destroyer Sepp – (Paladin – Combat/Offensive) – lvl 70 – Act IV NM - 57 points

Hias: WP: Jail Level 1 - Last Quest: Killed Countess
Sepp: WP: Harrogath - Last Quest: Nihlathak

Hias killed the Countess and then explored everything up to the Jail WP. After that he did some Countess and Pit runs. They were quite a success this time around. The Countess was kind enough to drop an IST rune (This was the first time I ever saw this rune dropping). All other runes were lower than Sol.
In the Pits I found an Ettin Axe. Not the Berserkers Axe I was hoping for, but not bad at all.
After these good results, I think I am going to do a few more runs. But first I am going to kill Andariel, perhaps I can run here a little bit for a good ring.

Psycho, I just sent you my prize stash. Let me know when you recieve it.

I had a 'Message Received Failure' come through at my Yahoo account, and have received no email from you, so I'm assuming that was the email you tried to send through, dude. If you can, please resend it ASAP, or PM me your email address and we'll see if we can organise another arrangement to get the prize stash from you :drink:

There are things that you forget when you start playing after a long break. :grrr:

When I took the zealot into the Far Oasis, I managed to find this:

Nagelring
Ring

Instinct made me put it on, which led to me finding another unique and using it, too. So that's the end for me, I'll be sending the stash soon.

It's a shame to have you go out like that, Summoned. I have received your stash and I encourage you to keep playing your characters, even post the results here for us!

Anyways folks, sorry for the lack of attention to this thread, but I was away for the weekend. I'm back now. My biggest fear was that this thread was over 100 pages long and that I missed out on an update :)

Hi everyone,

Another big step forward, although I am nowhere near finishing (normal that is). I started out with Persephone, getting her to act IV. She had a good time, dropping meteors on Meph, councilmembers and other assorted monsters. This is my first meteor sorc, so i still have problems aiming the things, maybe it will become easier when i get around to FO, freezing bigger groups. She had an uneventfull time in general, a few good drops, esp. to upgrade the equipment of Morpheus. No really interesting Uniques or Sets though, but i prefer yellow drops during the tournament anyway.
She did take the shortest possible route, so it would be over quick, and players 3, since i just wanted to get some progress again.

So with everybody hanging out in the fortress of light, I could start my first long run towards Baal. Offcourse The Merovingian was up first, as he is my most powerfull character at the moment. He went out, summoned an army and obliterated everything in his path. Allthough he is supposed to be my main MF'er he found little, but loads of yellow items. Some nice ones even, so he has upgraded to 174% MF, while improving resist. The only tricky situation was trying to kill an 8 players Diablo, which proved to be too hard, with summon resist at 2, so his elelmental attatcks killed my skellies rather quick. A resummon/replay at players one, and Diablo went down.
After that the first two quest of act V, killing Shenk and rescuing the barbarians were finished.

Plans for the future: get the merovingian to finish act V, level him till about 50 and find enough equipment to give my other two chars an easy time. After that get Morpheus and Persephone to lvl 30 - 32 doing XP runs and then get them through act IV and V, also leveling to ~lvl 50.
I really want that frozen orb, and Morpheus needs a point in berserk before starting the river of flame.

So: for the score

Team the Matrix II (Gouda) – 59 points
Morpheus - (Barb – Warcries/Com.Skills) – lvl 28 – Act IV Nml
Merovingian - (Necro - Summon/Curse) – lvl 37 – Act V Nml
Persephone - (Sorc Fire/Cold) – lvl 27 – Act IV Nml

Have fun, don't die

My firm presented me a nice 3D-card as a bonus. So I’m enjoying the shadows of Doom 3 now. They are really impressive. Blizzard should buy its engine and build a new RPG on it! Catacombs of Doom are the same as Catacombs of Diablo – much blood and darkness, many corpses. I guess I’ll find Andariel at the end. :)

I’ll be back to Diablo and the tournament after I rest from it or Gouda will overrun me.

I’ll be watching for others while at work though. ;)

No update for Team Eddings. My laptop went kablooey, and I can only get into it in Safe Mode. I'll be playing 're-install the OS' this week. Never fear, though, because I backed the trio (and more importantly, I'm sure, the stash) up once I got in Safe Mode. :)

So I've been spending my time playing Star Ocean 3, and now I've got Phantom Brave, Paper Mario, and Zelda: WindWaker (i'm falling behind) waiting for me... so I've got a lot of stuff with little time to do it in...

Sepp: WP: Harrogath - Last Quest: Nihlathak

Hias killed Andariel. She dropped only yellow items. Nothing usefull. I am going to run her a in the next few days to get some good items. I am although running the Countess and the Pits to find a good helmet for socketing. I think, that Sepp's equipment is in need of a serious update before he can take on Baal, not speaking of entering Hell.

Looks like Gouda's blown past me. I can't say I'm surprised, given how quickly he went through at the end last time.

I found some time to play last night, and took Starm through to the Flayer Jungle waypoint. Unfortunately, she had to go through the Great Marsh to get there, but she found a fairly quick way through. She also came to the Gidbinn and Flayer Dungeon on the way, so cleared those out successfully. Only one more level to go to 30 and Frozen Orb. I can't wait.

Great going Mage11, I'll take a short break anyway to let you catch up!
After that I'll see if i can catch up with Igor Potapov.
Since Doom3 is supposed to be quite addictive i think we have a chance of catching him :)

Destroyer Odysseus (Paladin, Offensive/Defensive) - level 60 - Kurast Docks, NM - 43 points
Destroyer Elayna (Assassin, Martial Arts/Shadow Disciplines) - level 61 - Lower Kurast, NM - 45 points

Just an update to show that my trio is still dancing...

Elayna and her crew made their way through the jungle. The easiest area was (unusually enough) the Flayer Jungle, because Sigemund didn´t need any help at all against leechable, low-HP, low-damage flayers. I drew the Shamen packs (you know, the ones with shaman + a couple of warriors + a couple of blowdarters) of both the Flayer and Soul Killer types. Nothing else to fight in this area (except for Stormtree´s pack and a couple of river hydras, of course).

Sigemund needed help against the massive Hulks in the first two areas. Cloak of Shadows and plenty of kicking was the answer.

Halfway through the Spider Cavern, I ran into monsters with Might. I didn´t look forward to fight a Mighty Sszark. :scared: That didn´t turn out to be the case, though. It was a CE + Might Poison Spinner boss (that most certainly wasn´t a pushover...). Sszark had the wussiest ability possible: Teleportation. She (I see all the big spiders as females, as it often is in nature. I think the males are the little ones you step on all the time. ) dropped Athena´s Wrath (the unique Battle Scythe). I kept it for Herne´s merc and relegated Hwanin´s Justice to the prize stash.

A situation in the Swampy Pit level 2 could have become dangerous if I had been slower to identify it as a real danger. Near the start of the area, at the end of a hallway, I ran into a trio of boss packs (I didn´t know it at the time that they were three). Two packs of Drowned Carcasses (LE + Extra Fast and FE + Mana Burn) and an FE + Stone Skin Gloam pack. The Gloam minions can be blinded but not the boss. Its lighting streamed through the hallway and it hurt like hell, even with maxed resists. We retreated back to a small room and the enemies followed. To make it even further complicated, there was a 4-pack of Dolls there, too. Elayna didn´t know where she should position herself to be out of danger. Merc died twice, shadow died several times. We killed one monster here and one there. At one time, Elayna suddenly found herself cornered by two Dolls. I managed to keep my head and Dragon Flighted to some Carcass minions at the other side of the (now really massive) monster pack. Retreat to the starting segment!

The merc was dead and I changed plans. I Unsummoned the shadow and tried to lure 1-2 enemies at a time to the starting area, then kick them to death. Managed to off 5-6 Carcass minions and a couple of Gloam minions this way. When the Dolls showed up, I brought back my companions and wiped out the hissing little snots. Then came the bosses. As we could fight them one at a time, no real trouble. I stayed away from the FE bosses, firing lots and lots of poisoned arrows instead. Soon, victory was ours.

You know, sometimes I really love this game! This was my first challenging fight in this tourney. I hope to experience many more...

I somehow think you might get your wish on that. :)

I'm slowly making progress... on getting my laptop running again. Monday I forgot the CD. Tuesday I put it in a CD case, sat it on top of my backpack.... and left my backpack at work.

Today might be the lucky day to bring home the XP cd...

Just made a run through the rest of Act III with Martabian, the Druid. Meph dropped Lycander's Aim, which is absolutely perfect for the Zon. I'm hoping he keeps up this knack for dropping Class-Specific uniques when my Necro takes him on. A Druid helm would be ideal :)

Don't wait for me - I don't have a lot of time to play, and am quite slow anyway.

I did get some time last night, though, and took Starm through the rest of the Flayer Jungle and Lower Kurast to the Kurast Bazaar waypoint. She picked up the black book, with only a little trouble, as they got swarmed by spiders and crazy women. It would have been a bit easier if I remembered I could use Chain Lighning. Instead, I was cursing being level 29 and not having Frozen Orb yet. Still, she did find a +1 Cold Skills ammy to match my +1 Lightning Skills ammy. It will be useful once she reaches level 30, which she should do in her next outing.

Oh well,

If you say so. I have periods of little time, and periods of no time at all for DII. It really depends on my mood, the time of day that i have available next to work, social activities etc.
In summer I go walking on the beach a lot, with my GF and our dog. In autumn and spring it is already light enough to do the last bits of DIY in the evenings. But winter is the season for being inside, lighting a fire and playing games. Still, I would like to finish some DIY projects before Xmas, so our house looks nice, and i can hide all the tools, paint and unfinished bits.

On this note, I did find some time yesterday after being on the phone for about two hours to a numbers of my friends and family. My GF wnet on to call her family, so I had some time to myself, and couldn't make any noise (so no sanding :) )

That gave me a bit of progress:
The merovingian made it to the next waypoint, of the area behind the imprisoned barbs. Since he had to do this from behind shenk, he killed shenk a few times first, and made two levels in total. No new quest done, but the levels are racing up again in act V. He found a few set items, but nothing special.
After that I gave Morpheus a little try, since i found a nice new scourge type thing for him. With some other improvements he now boosts a defense of ~1800, with concentration and can finally take some enemies at players 8, doing 50 - 300 damage. On top of this defense a 70% chanche of blocking assures that although it takes forever to kill anything, at least he doesn't take any hits while doing it. He explored a little bit, and found Izual.
I completely broke my scourge on him before he died, but it was worth it for the two skill points. Every skill point improves his capabilities greatly, I can't wait to get my BO/shout/concentrate maxed out. It will take to level 65 though, with all the prereq and utility skills.

Hey fellas :D
Sorry I haven't been updating lately (well, 2-3 months :|). I had a computer crash and lost all my chars (as I already said in this thread) and thought that it meant I was out of the tourney. I just had a look at the scoreboard and my teams still there so I guess I'm still allowed to participate?

I'll play until I am told otherwise.

KrAzEe_FoOl - Level 1 - 0 Points
KrAzEe_MoFo - Level 1 - 0 Points

Sam - yes, you are still in it. Don't worry. Remember to backup your characters on CD or disk, even on the net somewhere. Email them to yourself! It's a useful way to ensure you won't ever lose important things :)

Gaz - bad luck, but do not worry, there will be another opportunity. It will just be a long time between opportunities...

Very nice and easy progress through the rest of act 3 for Elayna.

Unfortunately, I blew my first try to get the correct number of sockets in my intended end-game weapon (1/3 chance that it would happen).
Furthermore, I had sold two Crude such weapons (the raw material I use) earlier, because I was so confident in my luck. Oh well, guess I´ll have to find another one and another Amn, then try again. I don´t want to use a Larzuk reward on this. There are still plenty of chances, since I don´t actually need it before Nihlathak.

Mephisto dropped Blackleach Blade (unique Bill). It had an interesting 8% life steal and did decent damage, but...too damn slow!
