Theme-Based Tourney; Signup & In Progress

Okay, I've been wanting to play an assasin character for a tourney. How about something based on the Blade movies?

Blade

Tiger Strike - 20
Represents Blade's skill with the sword.

Fade - 20
Represents Blade's natural toughness due to vampire blood.

Venom - 20
Represents Blade's usage of weapons that act against his enemies vulnerability. (light, garlic, etc...)

Equipment restrictions:
Melee with sword, no shield.

Ranged combat with crossbow.
Closes thing available to a gun.

Merc restriction:
Iron Wolf - cold.
This was a tough one. This represents his weapon building buddy, who comes in to save the day with a gun/vehicle, whatever.

Any theme based suggestions/corrections? Any other skills seem appropriate?

GreyEagle.

Ok, I have tried to think for a few days about this, and I hope I have something. DII is my first real forray into what I would call an RPG. I don't read books, don't play a lot of other games, so this was hard for me.

But I am showing an attempt here. Is this doable? Have I met the 'theme' requirement portion and have I laid it out well enough?

.....Play the intro song please..........

The Don
Money, Money, Money, Money.......Money!

The Don (AKA: Donald Trump) is a master of business.
In 'The Apprentice' style, The Don will be a master
in this tournament. He is not afraid of anyone and will
control all who get in his way.

With 20 points in Skeleton Mastery, there is no doubt
that he can control all who he takes out with those
famous words of "You're Fired!". Yet in this tournament,
those famous words are not spoken, they are deemed said
at the time those monsters are slain in the battlefield.

With 20 points in Raise Skeleton, this gives The Don
plenty of new recruits for this season's list of
apprentice wannabe's. These new young cadets who form
the corporation "Money Incorporated" will have plenty
of battles ahead of them, but only one can be crowned
"The Apprentice" when the final challenge has been
completed.

The Don would not set out on any business arrangement,
or an adventure in this case, without his trusted and
loyal sidekicks.

Carolyn is working hard now to prepare her for this journey
into this tournament, and won't be joining us until a
few quests into Act I. Although she is a Rogue, and quite
willing to guard The Don's blind side; she still has
work in New York that prevents her from starting right
away.

And of course George will follow shortly as well. As
he prepares his office to run efficiently while he
is away with us on this adventurous tournament. He has
sent word he will join us sometime around level 24.

He has indicated that he will try to fly out around the
time we are going up against Duriel, but he doesn't know
for sure if he will make it by then. In his stead, he has
offered to let Bill Rancic (Last year's apprentice winner)
to help us on our journey until his arrival. However,
Bill says he cannot join us for a little while. He
promises to be in the thick of things at level 6 and
can stay only until George has showed up.

As you would expect from The Don, he has a plan for this
tournament. He wanted this to be exciting, courageous,
and test his mental edge against those with might and brawn.
So here are the rules he is self-imposing upon himself.

1) Necromancer
2) Skeleton mastery as he is the master over his dominion.
3) Raise Skeletons to be his apprentices in training.
4) Only a Rogue for a merc, the female sidekick Carolyn.
5) A Clay Golem (Bill Rancic) allowed while awaiting Iron Golem (George).
6) All equipment must have one of these attributes in order to wear it;
A) Item is green.
B) Increases gold or magic find.
C) Poison resistance, poison length reduced, or poison damage.
7) Except for starting wand, only an item meeting criteria 6 above,
will be allowed to be worn even if means being naked for a while.
8) Carolynn can wear anything and is not as crazy as The Don.

Skills
----------
20 Raise Skeleton (The Apprentices)
20 Skeleton Mastery (The Don is a master)
1 Clay Golem (Bill Rancic)
1 Blood Golem (Pre-requisite)
5 Iron Golem (George)
5 Golem Mastery (Even his sidekick is mastered)
5 Summon Resist (All apprentices get some learning from The Don)
1 Teeth (When The Don bites your ass, you know it)
20 Corpse Explosion (The Don leaves no business left unfinished)
5 Amplify Damage (Only to 5; you can't handle The Don at 10!)

Well, I hope it is good enough to get into the tournament. If there are some adaptations or something I haven't thought of, I am all ears.

Just concerned a little bit about having an item that is green. I know I can find gear that has increased gold or mf; but I didn't know if adding a poison option is necessary. Assumption that poison would be green equipment also. Green, Money, Etc... But somehow poison doesn't fit.

Any others care to comment on that part?

TheDrummer, my DoubleSwing Barb, has just killed Duriel Rat-a-tat-tat and moved on to Act III and the Kurast Docks.

So, TheDrummer has 19 WPs and 12 Quests = 31 points.

What has happened to this tourney? I still have not been assigned a multiplier and I have not seen the scores posted for quite a few days. Is anybody there?

May Warrior of Light participate in this challenge?

Name: Warrior of Light.
Theme: “The Manual of the Warrior of Light†by Paulo Coelho.
Build: A paladin with a sword. Skills and items doesn’t matter (will decide later).

Possible problem. Warrior of Light doesn’t mule items. :(

The post with details will follow later.

I'm sure when Horobi has the time he will post up the table and give you a multiplier. I don't even think most people have started yet.

Actually, there have been already been about five entrants who have played and already been killed! And several more who are reporting progress.

It just seems odd that Horobi would start a Tourney and then not log onto the site for four days. The tourney rules state that if you are not assigned a multiplier at the start of the tourney that a multiplier will be assigned shortly after you enter. I've been entered and playing since Saturday and posting reports and haven't had anyone even acknowledge that I'm in the Tournament. My character is a challenge to play and I was just hoping to hear what my multplier is before my character is killed.

I meant that since you can still sign up for the next 7 weeks there will be constant new entrants. The chart would be filled with a bunch of dead low lvls and a few who have progressed farther into normal. You can post the chart if you want. I doubt Horobi would mind.

As for my progress. Fenix has just recovered the amulet. All was going well until CWT lvl 2. Fangy was very deadly. One of his attacks took half of my hp. I only have 160 :( . This does not fill me with confidence for my fight with duriel. I may have to use my Iths sooner than I want.

Points: 22 x 1.2=26.4

You do have to remember that Horobi started the tourney sooner than he originally planned due to participant pressure. I'm sure he will give out the new multipliers as soon as he gets a chance. I know people have waited a lot longer for build bonus scores in the MET tourney. It's just a side effect of using that type of scoring system.

“A warrior of the light does not put off his decisions.
He reflects properly before acting, considers his training, his responsibility, and his duty to the master. He seeks to maintain serenity, and analyzes each step as if it were the most important one.
But at the moment of making a decision, the warrior moves ahead: he no longer has any doubts about his choice, nor does he alter course should the circumstances be other than those he imagined.
If his decision was the correct one, he will win the combat - even if it takes longer than planned. If his decision is wrong, he will be defeated, and will have to start over again - with more wisdom.
But when he starts out, the warrior of the light follows through to the end.â€

In-game Character name: WarriorOfLight.
Theme: A warrior of light from “The Manual of the Warrior of Lightâ€, a book by Paulo Coelho.
Build: A paladin, using zeal with holy shock (Level 4 Zeal, maximum Holy Shock with all synergies).
Other Rules/Regulations: Warrior of Light fights only with a sword. He always carries a talisman – an item “of Sun†(+5 to Light Radius). He fights together with other warriors of light (only paladin mercenary).

Bip the "necromime" has moved into act 2, defeated Radament and claimed the first desert WP. I took Andy at P3, but the rest has been at P8.

He's gotten bone spear to an effective level now, but lacks the mana pool to use it a whole lot. Gumby is a decent tank, but of course can't kill anything - going without a merc is really going to slow the game down. I may shift to P5 or less soon. Bip still melees and uses his bow from range for many of the kills - CE and BS for a few.The leapers are a total pain - worst monster type to deal with so far!

No really great finds so far, but no MF% either. :) Another "unique" item was added to the stash - Horadric Scroll. I've been dying to ask Cain how he turned up in town, but don't want to break my vow of silence. (BTW, I know he would tell me that the rogues rescued him, that he's disappointed in me, and that he would charge me to ID stuff. )

Quests: 6 (didn't rescue Cain)
WPs: 11
Points: 17 x 1.4 = 23.8

No one has chosen this for there theme. Horobi will give you a multiplier when he has time. I haven't seen him on in a while so it could take a bit. Don't let that stop you from playing.

guys, I'm trying to decide if i should allow my self two Falchion, tulwar..etc.

I know Jason only has one but should i allow myself two? I'm not sure ill be able to kill and survive with one... can someone give me their opinions, thanks

with 1 sowrd, you'll still have an advanatge over other builds in the tourney, so i suggest going for 1. It'll make it more fun (if you like a challenge), and probably get you a higher multiplier.

sounds great thanks, i was going to will the concentrate skill but i was like nah, to close to an actual build :)

going fisting is so much fun *NOT* so tireing

I was going pretty well as a melee necro armed only with a spiked club, until I got careless. Use some common sense and you'll be fine. :)
