THE TYRANNICIDES: [revised] An outrageously expensive build for optimal MF-ing.

Re: THE TYRANNICIDES: [revised] An outrageously expensive build for optimal MF-ing.

Would 53% FI on a Barb equate to two additional runs on another character with each having +105%FCR? That chart would be nice, especially given people are criticizing high-end BI builds Barbarians are known for. A link would be appreciated, Mephiztophelez, not that it's your responsibility.
damn straight it aint my "responsibility".

this is my third post in this entire thread. i do not see the point of this build, it strikes me as expensive, slow and ultimatly silly.

i will admit, however, that i have done some sucessful MF'ing with a FI barb. however, in this case i used my fire sorc (very low %mf on my sorc, it's a 200/142 pvp build), a friend used a barb doped up the wazoo on MF. we went cowing. i'd mow them down and my friend would follow along horking away.

i found a ton of nice socky gear and a few good charms, my mate found some nice uniques and rares. we felt it worked quite well. and my mates barb could be outfitted at less than 1/1000th the "cost" of the monstrosity depicted in this build "guide"

Just thought this might interest some of you who have been following my build and those who have messaged me. Found this a day or two ago.

Also:

I've been looking into act 5 barbarians; has anyone else had any success using these merc's offensively? Any recommendations for equipment would be greatly appreciated. A configuration of items for an act 5 merc that maximizes effectiveness against mephisto and/or baal is what I'm looking for.

Maybe this will keep some of us busy while we wait for D3 lol

Re: THE TYRANNICIDES: [revised] An outrageously expensive build for optimal MF-ing.

Alright I'm probably going to rewrite this entire guide soon to streamline it and add alot of new changes because i have been working on this build ALOT. I have 6 different characters made now with different variations of items and skills for this build and I've learned a few things over the last few months.

Okay firstoff, the BIG NEWS is that i've found a FAR more effective mercenary setup. Using the act 2 nitemare merc with etheral up'ed hone sundan yari and guillames face with fortitude for armor, my mercenary can kill mephisto in about 5 seconds, with only the help of my bo and 1 battle cry on the boss before i switch weapons. Baal is also much faster!! and I believe this is due to the crushing blow. (My hone sundan has 1 ber rune in it, 1 amn rune for LL and 1 15/40 ias/ed jewel)

With this new and cheaper setup, magic finding runs are very fast and don't require hardly any clicking! you just teleport and then let the merc kill, check the items and then make the next game! It's possibly the easiest magic finding character to use because you don't have to spam any spells,

Anyway, I will update this entire guide quite soon for those who want to create a especially godly character before D3 comes out.

Since the merc is doing all the killing anyway, wouldn't it be a good idea to give him some MF as well, thus boosting the overall MF percentage on kills?

Re: THE TYRANNICIDES: [revised] An outrageously expensive build for optimal MF-ing.

Good read and guide. Definietely attracted my attention. I think a tomb reaver or hone sundan would be the best for your merc. I was thinking, could you keep a reapers toll in your inventory? When fighting a boss, you could equip it, and decreptify the boss until it's soon dead, and then switch back to mf items. Decreptify would both help defensively and offensively

Re: THE TYRANNICIDES: [revised] An outrageously expensive build for optimal MF-ing.

That's a really good idea, i should mess around with that item uptoolayte. I think it is a cool idea to put more magic find on the merc in this build however I have been citicized for months by other who insist that this build is too slow (although I don't think they tried the build) anyway several players on this forum thought the barb would teleport too slow and merc would kill too slowly. But that has been disproven, with dual hoto's it's very easy to get the barb to the second to last fcr breakpoint which is the same breakpoint as the sorceress' and the mercenaries I've tested with this build kill VERY fast. Anyway that's my explanation for why I've been working mostly on speed now and not more mf.

I think I will now try to see how much mf can be added without significant slowdown as per your suggestions. Thanks alot for the positive feedback guys!!

ATTENTION!

Thank you for all you comments!:alright:

Over the past 6 months I have taken your criticisms constructively and altered my build accordingly. The build and guide have both been greatly expanded and revised. The end result is far more streamlined.

The guide has moved to a new location due to a complete rewrite!
