At high 80s and early 90s you clearly see a drop in experience gain. Highest levels in the game are 85 barring minions, champs, uniques, superuniques, etc. Already suffering from the level penalty and then from the experience calculation itself, even eight players consistantly clearing WSK entirely doesn't gain that much. Those specific early 85 areas can be fairly useful, but remember we are around 70, where the penalties start, and sufficiently enough below their level that we get only a fraction of their worth.

As for Countess, her minions are the problem. They are always cold immune, so an enchantress with a nice, quick merc can handle them after Static Field. Countess is a pushover unless she's dual-immune or laden with auxilary affixes, and even then a Life Tap wand for your merc usually deals with that. A pure lightning sorceress would get into trouble a bit more often just trying to level, much like a pure lightning amazon built for cowing, but I guess it's a matter of preference.

I was referring to our 99 race, not our practice run, and definitely not our current west characters. (unless we want to practice the autonomous clearing).

The Countess is always dual-immune--Fire and Cold.

Myself, I prefer having a build capable of clearing (almost) any area by having attacks in multiple damage types, but if we are going to be doing single-minded runs at the end of the game, it may be more efficient to just check for weaknesses in the areas we will be doing. The Cows have no immunity, so anything with high damage works there (probably a Fury amazon). The Countess has both Fire and Cold immunities, so, barring an Enigma, I think a lightning sorceress would be fastest in killing her. Baal runs are pretty much a given, and since I don't recall anything except possibly Lister the Tormentor having dual immunities, perhaps two sorceresses? Bloody Foothills seem to be a mixed bag, so physical damage might be best there, although it's normally slower.

With regards to West, what exactly are we doing on weekends?

Dc In My Game Now!!

Urgent...diablo Walks In Game Codarust3//x And I Doubt Very Much If I Can Touch Him...heeellllllpppp!!!!

CRAP!! I got disconnected by a damned phonecall and by the time I re-established connection (still dunno who the mongrel calling me was) the game no longer existed :(

It looks like my wife will not be working tomorrow, so my dream of an MLK Day full of Diablo will not be realized. :( I will definitely try to get on tonight (Sunday), so if anyone else is available, I'll look for you online. I got on about 10:30 or so last night (Saturday) and found tlaloc online and ax online but apparently afk for 15 or 20 mins.

See you tomorrow?

Only four people were on an any time last night, same as the night before and probably the same as tonight. Right now I'm starting the cycle and sleep is trying to take over. I figure we should just can it until tomorrow night or the night after as this waiting has caused me to delay it even further. Tomorrow I should be fine until 3AM, definitely the day after.

Sokar: Sorry, was checking the thread every so often and never caught that. Doubt we could've dented him, but looks like it wouldn't have mattered since you lost the connection. Oh, well.

OK, this morning I got the Cold Plains WP (in the game with my much missed visitor :( ) and this afternoon I took out Blood Raven and did two mausoleum runs.

Strange thing happened though. First game I didn't die, Blood Raven was a piece of cake and the rest of said baked delight was in the Mausoleum. I was quite pleased. Second game, however, was a nightmare. I stopped counting how many times I died at 9...and that was not the end. These were no fanatic amped unique packs either (I met a couple of those in the first game and had no troubles at all) but, for the most part, normal monsters. To put this into some perspective, I make 18 kills on the Blood Moor to raise my Army then take the WP to Plains and search for the Mausoleum, and was lucky enough to get a game where the WP and Burial Grounds were close, but by the time I was through with Blood Raven the Blood Moor was empty and by the end of the Mausoleum Cold Plains was empty and I had to search the Cave for bodies. This made no sense. Given the number and type of uniques in the first game, not to mention my lower level, I should have had problems then but I didn't...I'm a little confused...

Anyway, I also found out that my Lower Resist is not strong enough to break some immunities even this early in the game. Cold Immune Zombies on the Blood Moor remain Cold Immune and some Lightning Immunes in Mausoleum also were unaffected by my curse. So far the only Fire Immunes I couldn't break have been unique Fallen so hopefully this won't cause much of a problem so long as Valcina is nearby. I'm wondering though should I invest more points in Lower Resist? I was intending on leaving it at slvl1 and relying on +skill items to boost it, but now I'm not so sure.At current level (4) I have -44% all resist with the next level being -47%. I really don't want to have to do this but what do you think? Is it necessary? I was planning on giving my Army as much Resist as I possibly can.

BTW, for all that death I scored a Heaven Set Armour for my merc and a rare belt with everything else being useless, normal quality, craps.

This up to 1 AM my time business is a little rough, not because I need the sleep, but because I live in perpetual fear that my parents will awake, since we keep the computer in a public room in clear sight of the bathroom. Not that anything really happens, but the stress factor is still there for some reason, and I will probably need to go immediately if they do wake. Anyway, I'll try to finish up the West run, but I don't think I'm gonna try the late night East. We on for tonight? I'm gonna have to leave at 12 (my time--2 East, 11 Pacific).

Where the hell ARE you guys? Just Sokar and I (and the ever-present, but AFK Ax). At this rate, we may not be finished before next ladder season, and I'd really like to get in some practice before then on my East power runs. And for those times we are all there, could we please try to start on time? I don't think I've been to a session yet where we don't all stand around in town for the first half hour to forty-five minutes. As is, I'm pressed for time, as my parents are beginning to see a pattern in my late-night activities.

That said, we could really use a conviction paladin in addition to lower resistances on East, if not more than one for when we divide up late game (one FoH, one Avenger?). And sorry about the double post.

I'm Back

tonite, January 18th i will be back in action, on alot, but most like not monday and wednesday nights (got class only on tuesdays and thursdays from 755 to 350 with an hour break from lunch.... not a bad schedule for 18 credits...) so i will be back.... lvl 59 i believe

I will be on from about 12 est to whenever any help in rushing would be greatly appreciated, I dont care about all quests, but with our limited gear alot of quests that i normally dont touch i think i should.... that is
all quests but khalims flail, and nihiltank (whole act 3 4 and 5) then the hell rush shouldnt take too long, dont need raven...

Tonight (tuesday)

I'm pretty much out for today. It's the wife's birthday so I needed to take care of a few things (dinner and such). I am going to call it an evening. I will try to catch up tomorrow.

Happy Huntin

LMAO!!

OK, Ax, I know some Americans don't have a very good grasp of the English language, but I never got the impression you were one of them... When I asked if you were still there I was actually asking if you were still there, you were seemingly AFK for 1/2 hr or so...there was no need to leave like that lol.

Well, fellows, as I mentioned a week or two ago, I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon for a six-day business trip. I may or may not be able to play tonight (Wednesday), but I definitely will not be able to play after tonight until at least next Wednesday (the 26th), and most likely next Thursday (the 27th).

When we started this endeavor in mid-December, I thought we would finish long before my business trip came around, but what with the holidays and such, we've gone more slowly than anticipated. I'll catch up as best I can after I get back. I obviously won't be able to update the webpage, so if someone would be so kind as to post any progress you make here to the forum while I'm gone, it will be easier for me to catch up and get back in the swing of things.

If I don't see you guys online tonight, have a good weekend, and I'll see you next week.

Damn, I was going to make the point that now we are all caught up we will soon be finished.

Without Wathombe our progress will slow a lot, I think, because we won't have the considerable boost from Enchant and then next Wednesday we will have to catch him up.

It's not inconceivable that Echoing_Ruin will hit lvl 80 tonight so I am going to suggest we all take a bit of a break on the proviso that by next Wednesday we are ALL (except Valcina) lvl 80. By this I mean we level up those who are behind and do some MFing (Pits, Mausoleum, Andy, Summoner) up to a certain level (maybe we can go a lttle past level 80), but no questing regardless of how many put in an appearance.

If it wasn't for Wathombe's business trip, and assuming enough people show up each night, I think we probably would be finished by Sunday night at the latest. I don't think with our builds, we will get there by then without Enchant and we are all likely to die more frequently and therefore be lower levels wherever we get to. I also think it is a little unfair that Wathombe, as the originator of this JTH, should miss out on the business end of the whole affair.

None of this is to say there will be nothing to do in that time, Be-Were and Tlaloc still need some levels to catch us up.

What do you all think?

Relax

Damn backspace should not go back in pages. Lost the entire thing I typed.

I was going to leave anyway, just needed a good reason.

Seeing as it doesn't seem we can get a party of 5-7 on with Wathombe I think we should just set the USWest JoTH aside and wait for his return. This way everyone can make plans to specifically be here the day he returns.

I'll be updating the USEast JoTH roster soon enough, but I have no more information about what people are going to play than I did at the last update, so please list the information asked for and all seven classes in the order you would prefer to play, such as mine:

Paladin (heretic/liberator)
Barbarian (dartler/einstein)
Amazon (ice queen/strafemare)
Necromancer (slowamancer/meleemancer)
Sorceress (meteorbit/shocktrooper)
Druid (windhammer/infector)
Assassin (psychotic/shadowmancer)

Well, I had a blackout last night but now something far worse is keeping me away.

You'll recall I mentioned that my CDD was making funny noises and I was wondering if that was the cause of my lag issues. Well, it's not making funny noises anymore! My $215 LaCie Porsche CD-RW, that was purchased in July, is now dead. I do not know if it has been on it's way out for a week or so (those noises may have just been from dust) or whether the blackout zapped it but either way I do not have a CDD at all now. Even if I can get it to the shop tomorrow (slept all day today) I doubt I will get a replacement until mid-week at the earliest.

This also means I have about 12 mules, with all my Titans, Thunderstrokes, Earthshifter, Cranium Basher, Tomb Reaver, Reapers Toll and dozens of other items I can't think of that are gonna go bye-byes in the next 3 days because I usually refresh on the weekend.

Well, fortunately I keep my program running in the background and let the drive sit still. This just means I can't advance characters to new acts or play LoD music.

If worst comes to worst find someone you trust as much as Wathombe and have them refresh your accounts. Stinks you can't even get on to temporarily change your passwords to make it easier, but you can change them afterward just to be safe. That's better than not refreshing the accounts at all, but you still have to find that person before the weekend.

As for the drive itself, I find it hard to believe the drive got nailed if it's internal. Assuming all designs are the same, the PSU wouldn't have saved the rest of the system and let an internal drive eat a surge. If the drive truly won't operate at all then it seems that, unless there's a warranty issue, you should probably open it and see if there's something more obvious at fault. Then again, I opened my drives and couldn't fix them, but they weren't dead, just deserved to be so.

This is yet another reason we should suspend all JoTH activity on USWest, only catching up or managing characters until next week. I suppose that makes three in favor of doing so: Wathombe, Sokar and I. Only need one more.
