Even in passworded game, that wouldn't be a good idea. Items disappear after being on the floor for some time (not sure how long precisely).

Today, the same guy came again. He even had the cheek to ask: "aww, nothing for me this time?" that f8888r.

randomise your passwords... use a different one per game... if you share a pwd with someone (trader for example) make sure that your other games have different passwords...

But most important of all: TRUST NO ONE! every time you mule or trade items be sure to do it with people that are in some way trustworthy... i always check the ETF scammer thread before i trade! (and i ask for their acc names in either pm or my trading thread before trading!)

2nd stupid thing i have done? Gave my acc to my nephew who was a little kid with all kinds of keyloggers on his pc (for the obvious reasons) lost all my non ladder chars that way... i should have thought twice before i did that!

haha my feeling exactly.

You really should change your pw to your games aswell.
The same thing happened to me, i always used the same game//pw to mule/etftrade in and once whilst self muling some random account joined my game but luckily it was just a few crappy gems.

Needless to say the pw has since been changed and now i sadly don't trust anyone on ETF as far as my self muling game//pw goes. If i'm muling and someone wants to trade they can wait until i'm done muling and created a different game.

I changed my password today, but sometimes I forget and used the old password.

Haha this whole thing reminded me of a poor guy in another forum. He was trying to sell a lot of unid uniques and posted a screenshot of the items spread on the ground... along with game name and password.

He owned himself big time.

some bastard comes, changes his char from sorc to smiter din, and grabz my sorc t20/20 while i was afk waiting to begin with my ut.

"1" is probably the worst password ever :) especially on a pw1 game :D

things like "asdf" are just as quick to type and easy to remember.

Tried to change mule while a bit drunk. Forgot game name and pass while items in the floor.

Oh, I've got some stories...


  • Traded a 39 Hoto for a Zod, thinking that Zod as worth a lot, being the highest rune.

  • Thinking TPPK was an instant-kill technique, and I ran away from low level characters in fear of getting TPPK'd (I even ran from characters that couldn't hostile yet).

  • Thinking Unique Items spawned with sockets, I gave somebody almost everything I had for a socketed Harlequin Crest.

  • Traded 10 HRs for a +2 Druid, 29 Str Helm, since I'm really OCD about not spending points in Strength.

  • Muling all my items to my super Windy Druid and forgetting to play D2 for awhile. "JXX" turns out to be a popular name, I guess since it's one of the few cool sounding short names available. Along with the character, I lost a perfect Def 15/15 Enigma, 20/20 DTorch, 20/18 Anni, the Druid Helm mentioned above, Arach's, etc, etc. My other characters were all there.

  • Throwing away many items including a Giant Skull, Andy's, Tri-Res Boots and others.

And things I've seen/caused.


  • Overpay scammed several people for oodles of HRs.

  • Some guy was asking for a Crown of Ages, and I showed him a "Blue version" of it, and traded it to me for an Um.

  • A player was convinced he would own me in PvP. So I kill him a couple times and saying I'm cheating, I ask why, and he shows me that his gear has over 100% Slows Target by.

  • With my Windy Druid, I was standing in front of the Rogue Encampment with Hurricane on and n00bs were running through over and over again, and yelling at me for stealing their gold. Then some genius decided to come from the back way (Cold Plains) and walked right through my Hurricane again.

  • I was being rushed and I debated against repairing the hammer, insisting that it does nothing and the rusher got angry and quit, saying that I was forge scamming him. It was an Ist too.

I muled some things in public 7 player game. Needless to say, when I wanted to join with my mule, it was full. Luckily I muled only Moser's, Infernostride and some random 4 socketed armor.

Definitely not the stupidest, but dumb:

Made an enigma in a boneweave yesterday.

Sup, so the def is great, and the strength requirement isn't a problem for my pally, but I've killed most resale value that it might have had, as well as making it useless for a lot of characters I might build in the future. I had both a mage plate and a dusk shroud I could have used too...

Oh yeah, yesterday was a good day for runewords. I also made TalThulOrtIth

I just deleted my pgem/ral mule somehow.
I have no idea how did I manage to do that because there is the confirmation.

Fortunately it was around 10rals + 10pgems, but still : /

Pfft, Boneweave is the best! Coolest named armour (non-unique) in the game. I made my CoH in one just to be fancy.

heh some pretty funny stuff, but of course after playing diablo 2 since the beginning ive had my fair share.
when 1.10 first came out i decided to xfer all my stuff to my new and correctly statted hammerdin. (pcomb gcs, nigma,hoto,cta,arachs,anni,)
right after i left the game i realized i couldnt remember for the life of me wat the game name was lol.
my friend was afk at the time, so when he came back he had his log spammed from me begging for game name.
silly me... forgot pit11///11

With a stack full of gear and an inventory semifull of itmes I want to "organise" a bit.
And accidently flicked a godly rare jewel in a eth 4 socket flail :-(

Long ago when SoJ was the currency in Europe NL, I traded more then 40 SoJ's for high runes. If I recall correctly I traded 6 SoJs to get ONE Jah and 5 SoJs for a Ber.

(but in these times I also got a trade, my IST & OHM for 32 SoJ's :-)
