i think that wins as the most expensive mistake / misclick
makes me feel better about my
Hel + El + Vex + Ort + Lum failed Death PB - at least the rune i didn't socket was a Gul. Mine pales into insignificance next to that.

I recently played single player and while running baal for the first time Lister or one of his Buddies dropped an IK Armor.

So I decided then and there to make an IK barb. I built MF characters to find the rest of the set, a Highlords, a Ravenfrost, a Dwarf Star and a LF zon to mf charms.
Once I had them all, and an inventory stacked with +10Max GCs with life, +6Max LCs with life and +3Max SCs with life, I made my IK Barb. Halfway through I decided to remake. I opened up Go Mule and took all the gear off him, opened up D2 and deleted the character and remade him with the same name, switched back to GoMule and discovered that as I had not saved ALL my gear was 'gone'.
I quit playing after that.
I recently played single player and while running baal for the first time Lister or one of his Buddies dropped an IK Armor.

Just found this thread–whole thing makes me feel a lot better about the um rune I disappeared during some half-asleep muling after a party on Saturday...
I'm sure I'll come up with some good ones later though, I tend to accidentally socket things while moving gems around

Probably going back through a town portal RIGHT BACK INTO the serious furball of monsters that I just used a portal to escape from!
I flee, lick my wounds, sell some items, resurrect my merc, buy some potions (and/or replace them from stash supplies), cast some summons/buff skills, then I plan to return to the fight. As this takes some time, I have forgotten that I really should return via waypoint/stairs.
It´s happened a couple of time. Thankfully, I haven´t died any of those times but it´s been mighty close.

This is enough of a problem for me in my super-twinked SC. Imagining your playstyle (HC, single-pass, untwinked, non-cookie-cutter, etc.)... yikes.

(forgive my english) . An odd item is saw and kept for a while, because it was just funny: A zod'ed 3 socket Great helm. Non-eth of course.
i dont agree with peeps saying dont trust anyone. I say dont trust everyone. But a friend is one of the most valuable thing in the game. Just think of all the items you would'nt have lost while trying to transfer alone!!!

Since we're talking about online friends here, it won't take too long to find one whose eyes will get too big when you ask him to help you mule and then he sees you're muling high runes and/or high end rune words.

Ive been playing classic, started LOD only recently. Traded some very cheap runes on the forum to make an insight runeword + a giant tresher (or w/e is the english name). I made the runeword.. and then it occured that the weapon requires 210 strenght. My mercenary had 100 strenght at the time. I had to make a 3 socket mask and get griswold's armor for additional 20 strenght.. and he still couldnt wear it (I run out of gems)...
He is still wearing the damn mask.
I was trading for a gull on classic (100% mf dagger), some guy was rapidly showing/not showing it on the trade screen. I showed by goods and he kept spamming. I accepted.. and bah, he switched the gull to a dagger with socketed emerald.
I traded a 50 MF tarn for a wormskull. I figured out that "both helmets are +1, so I could easly trade it back at any time, right?".

I died on baal run and somehow lost the enigma. And helm, boots weapon. bb D2. Well, it was going bit too smooth with that char.

After the frustrated rage had cooled down, I remembered that I wasn't using MP eni but dusk shroud. So add 10 to str and vola, all gear returned. Only fool here me

stupidest thing i did was dump all my gear on the ground to remake a guy, only to totally forget about the merc. he had a nice ebugged fort, ugh.
also, i remember laughing a lot when a friend tried, with my char right next to him, to make insight in a spear, only to spit out a gemmed ghost spear. good thing it wasnt an infinity...
