Saved up to buy 2 sets of Enigma runes, then when I got ready to put them in, I made a Jah Ith Jah dusk shroud.
At least I was able to trade one of the Ber's for another Jah and cut my losses.

It's the mistakes we make that teach us the most important lessons. Like:
soj's can't be rebought....I had the great idea of "Hey, I got a lot of gold, why don't I sell and rebuy my one soj, that I traded so many things for, to get d-clone to pop???"
when transferring a hoz, don't join a public baal game....god I spent less than 4 minutes typing the game name furiously, only to get "Game is Full", and then "Game does not Exist"
Beware of trade scams.....I was involved in one of the more complicated ones. Some dude in a pub trade game offered me an enigma for [item x]. I didn't have [item x], so started trading with other people. Lo and behold, someone else has [item x]!! So to make sure he trades it to me before finding enigma dude, I offer tons of items worth more than [item x]. As soon as I finish the trade, enigma dude and friend leave ><

I was gambling some circlets and rings with my hammerdin a while ago, after the checking all the items for junk, I sold it back. Along with my Combat gc with 30 life. Oh Shoot. Not in those words though.

Just yesterday I deleted what I thought was a placeholder character. Until today when I went looking for all my prubies and pamethysts. Then I realized I had xfered all of them to said character (stash full of p amys, inventory and cube full of rubies).

I didn't like the name on my smiter i was re-making (xfering to new acct as others knew pw to old one) so I decided to delete him and remake him with a better name, only to realize after I did it I forgot to transfer all the gear first...
Items lost in this: 20/19/9 anni, 15/18 ptorch, enig ds, ber'd shako, 14/14 eth treks, 27 maras, 5/6/1 cta, 38/390 grief zerker, 5ll bk, 242/20 dex raven, 2x pcombats w/ 12 fhr, 15x 20 life sc's, 10ll dracs, 36vita dungos belt

Was transferring something to a permed game. For some reason I got one of my characters, made a random game "asedawieu" and dropped it on the ground. When I joined the permed game obviously nothing was there. Luckily it wasn't anything worth much but I felt like an idiot and wondered why I did that.
I got scammed by the 18 item popping. This dude killed me a ton of times, then took nearly all my godly items. I had no idea there was such a stupid thing that existed or could happened and thought it was cool for so many dead "Me's" to be laying around.
I also got scammed by being told if I typed /DND and my account and password I'd get a running total of the points blizzard assigns every person based on their behavior in the game. A nice person got a high score that could be redeemed for items. I typed /dnd my account and password and left the game as the scammer told me. Never got a single thing back and lost my entire account.
That was probably the worst. It took me 3+ years to get back what I had.

Nowhere near as serious as you guys, but I made a Infinity in a CV (non-eth). After going wtf b/c the merc wouldn't pick it up, I realized it was 210 str vs. the 191str that merc has at lvl87.

Found a superior (6%) eth War Scythe, self cubed it to 5 sockets, and made it into Obedience (my fav runeword), then tried to up it to Giant thresher for a nice gg merc weapon... apparently you can't up runewords once they're set
Luckily, I managed to buy a 15% eth CA and make THAT into an obedience. The only weapon I've ever seen that eclipses 1090 dmg

I rushed someone to a hell forge once, only to have him go afk for the forge when I cleared it (he made himself a tp). I pretended to be afk while I window moded and looked at digg etc. After about 15 minutes, He hostiled me, tried to bum rush zeal me, but I came back in time and raped him. He lost his TP and left. I proceeded to follow and chastise him on proper forge manners.
