The most stupid thing you have done in d2

Re: The most stupid thing you have done in d2

Ive wasted an imbue quest on a charsi leg thinking that it will become a bugged leg and make me invisible. Of course nothing happened and I lost an imbue quest ( at the time this scam was running wild on BNET)

What's the big deal?

Found a coa in a baal game then traded it for a perf ber ber coa and a spirit thinkin the guy was just a noob then let them both poof

You were asking for it. I mean, why the hell would the guy give pay 2 ****ing Bers and a Spirit for getting a clean CoA? Even as a noob he would have known he was getting chiseled. Sorry to say, but that serves you right.

As a noob I put P topazes in an ali baba.
The really sad thing is I put 2 in before I caught on.

That really is sad. Have you ever recovered from the loss of TWO PERFECT TOPAZES?

Not looking at what 2 gems do and socketing them is more stupid than socketing 1, but yeah, both regarding wealth and scope of stupidity, that qualifies as a "big ****ing deal" in my books.

Re: The most stupid thing you have done in d2

I had recently sold a pKira's, so i splurged on two sets of 3soc armor i had been thinking about getting.

Bought them in two seperate IG trades, no problem.
Muled the armors to my roon toon, no problem.

Answered the phone, and when i finished my call, i had an eth Hellforge Plate Enigma, and a pdef Dusk Shroud Duress.

Can someone teach my merc to tele?

Nice.

Re: The most stupid thing you have done in d2

When I went to delete a different character, I deleted my favorite paladin instead. Oops! Strangely, it didn't bother me very much.

Re: The most stupid thing you have done in d2

On the relative scale of things, it's extremely minor - but it's still the most irritating of my mishaps:

Somewhere in time I managed to misplace my favourite level1 twinking amulet, a Rugged Amulet of Regeneration. Every time I start a new character and run out of stamina somewhere in the Den of Evil, or find myself asking "how much longer before I can use leeching gear again?", I miss it.

Ah, the only time you jump of joy when you see a stamina shrine. :D

What was the stats on that amulet? I'm not too good with prefixes and stuff.

Re: The most stupid thing you have done in d2

What is it ?
1 I traded uped umed HoZ 189 for amaT 18 18 like 2 months ago ( or was it less )
2 I found Deaths Fathom with decen % and threw it ...
3 Geting my acc robed ... but i dont really know how did this happen

in early 1.11 patch (pre-public dupewaves) I got donated items worth of 200 3.20.20s from a friend who quitted. I was organizing my mules transfering all new godly items onto new organized holders for furtrher trading.

Due to needing space for a new char I was gonna delete a naked lvl1 char with no items, the one where I had unorganized items before, but instead I deleted one of the newly organized mules, this one holding a full, absolutely godly, bowamazon. we talk 3.20.5s/3.20.20s inv, 30frw/3sock circ etc... even more godly back then. and ya, all in all was 120 3.20.20s... 3.20.20s perm wasn't as worthy then as now but still, was hell alot of items.
It was like all the blood in my vains just stopped for a few seconds when I realised how retarded I had been :whistling:

I did more clumsy stuf for sure, who hasn't done a runeword with leethaxxor highrunes in wrong combination? haha hurts! (atleast did when highrunes was actually worth smtn)

Oh hahahahah I forgot: like the 5th or 6th day of hardcore ladder, think it was season 2, I managed to grab "one of the first" annahilus that ladder, identified it and it was 20/19 or around, you know, just "ZOMFG, IaAMmm RiiIichHhhhHHHHHhhhhhh"

I was so happy and felt so ****ing godly I just had to enter the first trade game to show up, walk away to a pretty thrilling, yet also almost safe position, and dropped the anni twice (and picking it up deadly fast) just to read the extreme exaggeration of the noobs in that game (yes, this anni was truly the ****). I couldn't hold myself from doing it again, this time abit closer. So I held it, dropped it, and in the same ****ing second as I drop it, or a little before but not long enough before for me to notice it, a idiot starts to runm against me, It hits the floor, I get SUPER nervous as I realise I might lose this 20/19 anni, prolly top5 at the server at this time, and I ****ing misclick it when I try to grab it. And yeah, the noob comes up close and there goes the anni. lol. I was pretty young back then and was I furious or what? lol. the Razer-mouse barely survived xD

worth to mention is that by then you couldn't put anni/torch in trade window so this was only way to showoff :D

I think the most idiotic thing I've done was during a transfer when I somehow forgot to pick up some of my gear (I guess I hid them too well) and just left without noticing...until the next day when I got on....

Re: The most stupid thing you have done in d2

i made a infinity in a mancatcher, then saw the gemmed mancatcher and realised it wasnt a polearm

I HATE MANCATCHERS!!!!! I've done this like 3-4 times, and it still gets me somehow! And I'm still suprised every time! Gah!

Re: The most stupid thing you have done in d2

(ladder) The most stupid thing i ever did was dying on my way to Mephisto (i believe it was Nightmare) to some damn dolls. The thing is, i thought i would loose my entire character if i failed to retrieve my body. So there i was, frantically trying to retrieve my body, trying to use all the spare items i had stored, obviously dying over and over again. I must've been doing that at least an hour with a couple of dozen bodies of mine full of my hard earned loot lying there. Finally i gave up pretty much loosing my entire character. Haha
Another stupid thing i did was cubing runes, puls and the like, i just wanted to have myself a Lo or something, which i obviously never achieved to create by cubing runes anyways.
The last stupid thing (more like a stupid way of doing things) is the first Ubering i did, which was a complete and utter disaster, mainly because i somehow was able to trigger pretty much all enemies (don't ask me how).
Then there are the scams of course, trading for a manald instead of a highly valued ring and stuff. And loosing items due to dropping them on the ground and then getting kicked, one of them was a pretty nice Enigma. Ah well

Re: The most stupid thing you have done in d2

i strenghed glitched, died and lost: dracs, sanctuary, grief, highlord, raven, carrion.. :S

Another good one is a guy who attempted to make delirium but used io instead of lo

yep. Infinity in a mancatcher. Got one sitting on a mule right now cause i can't bring my self to sell it even though i KNOW there is no way to get my runes out of it.:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

Re: The most stupid thing you have done in d2

I threw away a 150AR 25 life gc thinking it was junk :(

And on my first character ever (a sin on single player), I maxed all lvl30 skills thinking they were the best. Then I got all the way to Hell with Phoenix Strike, but NEVER figured out how to release the charges :D

This reminds me of my first days. The concept of leveling was completely unknown to me. I would pedantically (if that is a word) run my pally through meat grinders, paring down the mob and dying many times in the process. The frequency of my death was such to ensure no experience gain!

This is how you wear the print off of your Esc, Up and Enter keys.
This is how you spend weeks getting to A1 Hell at at a ridiculously low level.
This is how you discover ridiculously low level pallys do not belong in Hell.

I quit for years, until I found the wealth of info on this site.
It would have been nice to know that I was able to create NM games again!

I kinda know how you feel. when my then ww barb was lvl 91 (now 93), i was doing pindle runs at p8 and got killed 3 times rather quickly. twice trying to recover the body of the first. i lost over 30 mil in exp. what was i thinking? :banghead: it took about 100 runs to get that difference back. that wasn't the bad part. i had about 27 unused skill points. :hang:
now i made the investment of maxing out BO. that saved my butt many times since then.
