The Gladiator's Bane

Honestly, its best handled by the mods. These threads so often end up in mud slinging, finger pointing, calling names and ruining reputations just over something that needs clarification. Let AE or Kremtok handle it as they usually do.

People have been banned over items that are cheated in the past since it is clearly against SPF rules.

Thanks for the reports guys

Yes, we will deal with the situation. But I have no problem with folks pointing out factual information in a thread like this. No one's flamed, or really even accused anyone of anything. The item is certainly a dupe though.

PlasticRage420, where did u get that Armour?

Little problem I see is that it is a Dupe, so its not good for anything :P

I know you didn't find it, so one of two things happened, you traded off a duper so you can tell us who it was or you downloaded it off the net. Infact I can even tell you the name of the download pack you got it from, but hey I dont need to tell you 'cause you already know

So where did it come from?
So PlasticRage420, these are the right questions. Please answer them in a PM to me. Sooner is better than later.

PlasticRage responded to me on PM. He claims to have found the armor.

The armor listed by Pucho is a confirmed download item. The odds that PlasticRage found the armor with the same ID is astromical enough, but the multiplier of finding it with the same ID, plus even better mods is too much for me to consider true.

So he has been banned.

NOT for downloading. NOT even for hacking. But for doing these while hosting and joining MP games organized through the SPF. That's what is against the rules and cannot be tolerated.

Maybe you didn't read the PM right, AE. I told you I've never been in an MP game. But, whatever, your decision. I'm going back to OTF, I guess I can expect this account banned too.

Minor hijack, Bolinbrooke dude do you run every fingerprint you see through the database, or do you have it memorized already?

I use this on my Lightning Maidens Merc, usually run Baal and he holds up pretty well.

Well-handled all round everybody. No flaming, mods were informed and took the appropriate action, and everything was resolved in a surprisingly civilised manner. The system can work!

I know we should let the thread die soon but I'm pretty curious to this question too. Bolinbrooke, how did you do it?

I'd like to know how you found out it was a dupe.

I went to the WWW and downloaded every item pack I could find, compiled the data into a list.

That armour came up in my list, so its a dupe.

There must be more than 3000 dupes in the list by now...... so yeah, I remember them all :P

nicely done BB. you could be our sentry. ever watchfull :D.

anyway, there's no reason this discussion cannot continue. to me, the problem with TGB is the lvl req. i mean come on! 85!. it's just too high. it would be more usefull if it were around 70's.

It would be more useful if it had some good mods ;)

The only thing I've ever found to be outstanding about it is its defense, considering it only requires 111 strength. The rest are decent, but nothing outstanding by any means, at least in my mind. If it had some resistances, then we'd have another story, but I think that an armor without at least some resists is a waste of an equipment slot.

Edit: And yes, that includes Enigma. Waste, waste, waste! At least till I find that Ber and Jah

I'm assuming this is what he did.. The atma readouts are edited, but not the fingerprints. So it wouldn't be "exactly the same". But why didn't he just edit the fingerprint?

edit: noticed that even the other stats were not the same. How come his is near perfect? 195%ED, 20/20..
Sadly there is a program that alters everything about an item...so I'd say it's not a manual edit of the ATMA readout.

Good pickup Boli, this place doesn't need another duper.

The Gladiator's Bane has always been one of those "almost" armours, and I agree with the comments about the ridiculously high level requirement to use it - especially prior to 1.10, where you rarely finished the game above 80, even playing on p8 the whole way.

If you want MF, you use Skullder's or Tals. If you want a cheap caster armour - Vipermagi. Lionheart is good for resists. Arkaine's has high defence, the possibility of +2 skills, and that vitality bonus. Duriel's Shell has CBF and resists. If you're looking for damage reduction you usually choose a Shafstop first.

Having said, 1.10 may bring the Gladiator slightly more back into fashion. The CBF can save a ring slot. MDR is much useful that it used to. You can hit the 50% PDR cap without a Shaftstop. There are new ways to get resists. It will be a really fashioable armour but its more useful than its often give credit for. LIke I said earlier, my Baal-running defiance merc loves it.

Yes, Gladiator's Bane makes for an awesome defiance merc armor. I was lucky enough to pick up an eth one with perfect ED no less, making for a whopping 2219 defense rating. My merc almost never dies thanks to it. The only thing that kills him are fanaticism aura, cursed pit archers with a nearby separate boss pack with holy freeze enabled. Oh, that kills me too. :grrr:

@Milamber: :surprise: There are? I see! Thanks for that info then. As you can see, i'm utt3r n00b at h4xz and ch34ts. Anymore other kinds? It's quite surprising, really.

Yup, I know of one program which even alters item fingerprints! That's why trust is such an important thing.

Oh, before anyone asks, the spamming police like to know what they're up against :p

Because this guy never thought that the SPF community would find him and call him out on his "self found" TGB.

I tells ya, this is the last time I considering trading my items from the Items Warehouse. *gasp* i'd get caught!

JUST KIDDING. :surprise:

That's the thing most dupers seem to think we're ignorant.
