Sorcs and big time mana drain

So, many here have recommended a BlizzBall sorc to MF. My character is level 42 now, in normal, and so far is unable to keep up with the mana usage for Blizzard. She wears:
Frostburn
3 Pskull helm
Rhyme shield
2x Manald Heal

I don't forsee ever finding an SOJ, so what can I do to ease the load of gulping blue pots?

Silkweave boots. And a headgear with Tirs/psapphires instead of pskulls.

What's her weapon/shield? For Normal and NM the staff Razorswitch is nice:

Ditch the skulled helm, get 3x Psapphire. Regeneration < bigger mana pool. I don't know what you're using for a weapon, but I find razorswitch very handy when it comes to leveling sorceresses. Then there are always some charms, and vipermagi/4xPsaph armour

Mana leeching (Pskulls) only works on physical attacks - you have to whack the mobs with your stick or shoot 'em with a bow to generate mana.

Sorcs are 'supposed' to use triumphant or Victoious items (+ mana per kill).

Triumphant Items are especially valuable for the Sorceress, because each kill will generate mana. Mana Steal Items will only work for the Sorceress when she is attacking with a Staff, Weapon, Bow or Crossbow because they require physical attacks. The Sorceress typically uses spells to destroy her enemies so she needs an item that generates mana faster or generates mana when using her spells. Triumphant items can regenerate mana for the Sorceress even when she uses her Cold, Fire, and Lighting based spells. But Triumphant isn't for the Sorceress alone, any class can use it to help with mana problems.

Triumphant Items will not work when the killing blow is made by a Minion.

As stated above a bigger mana pool will increase your mana regen rate from warmth too.

Why do you need to to ease the load of gulping potions?


Personally, I almost never have any mana problems in Normal and Nightmare because I let my merc do almost all of the killing (they wear MF gear and I play untwinked, 'full clear once').

Of course, selling almost everything I find helps to fill the mana up every few minutes...

Once I get to Hell, my high level (75) and random bonuses on my resists/skill/+life gear (charms, gloves, belt, boots, amulet, circlet) always seem to include quite a bit of +mana just as side effects.

I have used Civerbs Amulet early on for the 40% mana regeneration. To be honest, I think you just have to live with gulping pots until your mana pool grows. Even my light sorc who uses Insight needs a pot or two occassionally when I have a heavy spell spamming moment.

Lower Kuraust had a few +119 to Mana rings IIRC but frankly I prefered FCR. Or it's the old sapphire in the armour/helm really.

Yeah it gets kinda sucky to suck back on blues the whole time.

Here is something I can sugest though.
Lets say you are in NM A Gmana will give you 300 man IIRC, were a Smana wil give more. Don't use Smana potion cause they fill up the globe to quickly. When your globe globe hits the top you loose the rest of what was in the pot.
The Gmana potion takes longer to fill up so as it fills up you use the mana, if done right you can utilise the full about of mana in the pot.

I'm sailing now- put on the Silkweaves, made a 3 psapphire helm, and dug out a Razorswitch. I'm spamming Blizzards left and right with NO gulping!

Skulls in a helm give life and mana regeneration. It's not at an impressive rate (replenish life +5 and mana regen +19% for PSkulls), but it is fundamentally different than skulls in weapons, which give life and mana leech and work only on physical damage. Life regeneration is a nice plus on a starting character untwinked so a chipped skull or two in a helm is good and gives a slight amount of mana regeneration but that is about the only time it's worth getting life and mana regeneration from skulls in a helm, I would say.

Even though you are good now, it would help greatly if you have a Merc with Insight (Ral+Tir+Tal+Sol)

The Meditation Aura is great... Plus it isn't very expensive!!!
