Some Fishy questions...

It's not - different people have different needs depending on their setup. A sorceress who is unable to trade for skullder, or make a wealth runeword, if she finds a Jah and Ber runes from Hell WSK, obviously will make an enigma and start using it for mfing rightaway. The +teleport may seem redundant for her, but an enigma is the best thing she could do in that particular condition. Just an example.

Honestly, she's a LOOOOT more likely to find MANY skullder's before a jah AND a ber.

Merc weapon: Reapers Toll - Ignore Target Defense, 33% chance to cast Decrepify, 33% Deadly Strike, 15% life leech and some cold damage, make it ideal for Boss killing. I added an IAS jewel to make the 7fps breakpoint on the Merc. Downside: it's lvl75 req so it's pretty much an endgame-only option..
while reapers is a very nice weapon, i dislike having my curses over-ridden.

surely you jest. i must LOL once again.

LOL

enigma is only the "standard armour for everything" because of the massive dupeing of High Runes. this massive dupeing has meant that a non-eth skullders can probably be picked up for pgems once a ladder season is more than 2 weeks old. in the interim, a 4sox dusk shroud stuffed with ptopaz makes a perfectly servicable MF armour for a Sorc or Summon necro.

again, i'll say it: enigma on a merc is plain dumb. it's an idea born out of being bloated up on duped high runes.

have YOU ever found Jah+Ber before finding a Skullders or the Lem+Ko required for Wealth during this or any other ladder season?

well, have YOU?

Noob is a derogatory word. Please be kind with your words on these forums - I beg you.
report my post if you feel it's out of line, i will accept whatever the mods decide.

I've found three shrunken heads with +2 necro skills and +2 skeleton mastery so far, during three months of gameplay. I sold all the three for a pul rune each because I didn't consider ubering till then, but now I do. I'll hang on to my next one.
congratulations.

I know it's a little OT to the whole thread, but is Enigma really so bad on a sorc? If a sorc has max resists with Enigma and has good use for the strength it offers (usually to equip Spirit), then it's a great armor. You could argue that the extra mf from skullders compensates for the extra +1 skills, strength and pdr, but that's a matter of preference. I would never call an Enigma sorc a noob.

FYI, my fury druid on last ladder made use of Enigma too even though the +1 teleport did nothing for him. There's more to this armor than just the teleport.

As for the earlier question why I choose Cryptic Axe is because it does the most damage and requires far less strength than a Colossus Voulge, which does almost the same damage. It's really only a matter of a few percent though.

Sasja is far from a noob. I have both sorceress and necro, so will try out the enigma wherever I like. Sorceress merc is often mostly there to supply the very last hit when MF'ing or just screen some opposition, so things like CB which are extremely worthwhile to a necro's merc drop tremendously in value.

Before this thread gets too off topic, I just wanted to add another vote for obedience. If you're going to uber, the crushing blow, resists, faster hit recovery can't be beat. Switch out his normal dr armor for a smoke (cheap nef-lum) and a middling kiras and he'll be maxed for meph's conviction aura.

I just read Jarrett's setup and it sounds awesome. I never thought about sticking treachery on a merc. I think I'm going to give that a try.

if i had a spare enigma, i'd put it on my merc for some more mf. kill bosses for me with over 600mf (merc mf added to my own)? sign me up.

anyways, another vote for Obedience from me. the cheap CB on an elite polearm is hard to deny. the cold shatter is inconvenient, but the merc kills so quickly that it's easy to start the CE chain on the next corpse.

my merc is wearing eth Fort, Guillaume's and Obedience. CB kills baal in ~1min. last ladder, he wore Bonehew, gbane and a rare polearm. literally took 5 minutes or more to kill baal without CB.

OP, if you can afford infinity, it's a nice merc weapon as well, especially if you have mages and decide to uber.. the conviction will help a lot. upped shaftstop is nice for DR - eth is nicer =)

wizspike/homunculus on switch if you need resists and fcr after summoning. if you're OK for resists and fcr, i'd probably take beast over oath for the fanat aura. that'll help skellies deal more damage over time.

The conviction will be overriden by meph's aura.
