Socket Arrangement Order

So I made a robo PB with 2x ar/ias jewels and 4x shaels in a phaseblade. I put in the former 2 first, then the shaels. The arrangement in the PB turned out looking like this;

X0
X0
00 ,whereby X represents the jewels, 0 representing shael.

So it's not really a pretty sight, since I actually wanted the jewels to go on the top row. That brings to my question, how are socket fillers arranged in the order that they're put in, especially in 4/5 socket items?

From such experience, I know in a 6sox item, the 1st column (on the left) is filled first from top to bottom, then the next column, again from top to bottom=P

oh, thx CG.
i'll keep this in mind the time i socket my rune master=)

I had this same dilemma earlier when socketing an Hone Sundan. ShaelAmnShael looks better than any of the other arrangements, IMO (except possibly AmnShaelAmn ;-).

CG's 4-socket layout looks correct, but judging by my Obedience polearm, 5-socket is:

2-5
-1-
4-3

I can confirm that for 4 socket items, the order for both Passion and Kingslayer is:

14
32
