So I want an uber armor for my merc...

Sooo...I was watching my beloved hammerdin on NL this evening...
God I loved that build,I customised everything on him.
He was my little mf maniac.
Unfortunately,being passed into NL means his MF-ing days are well behind him,so these weeks he just winks at rogues and wrestles with Charsi.
Still,I was lovingly checking out him and his trusty merc,memories bursting.
Then I notice the tank gear the merc had.
Oh,just a thing,he is THE most badass sand soldier paladin you can find.His name is Kasheem!just like the character in Full Metal Panic.I tell you,'tis that name that saved us both on many baal runs.
But forgive my rabbling.I was looking at his gear and I saw his STONE sacred armor.
4581 defense.
WoW.
I remember having this idea about how to create an armor for the merc that was uber...stone seemed to be the runeword for it BUT I also had an idea taken from this forum.So I used the cube to put sockets in 2 sacred eth armor I found.And they came like that.I stoned both of them,one gave to a friend,the other on my merc.
The problem is...I can't exactly remember the recipe.I can't remember if I just got lucky with 4 sockets,or if that's the number that comes out when you use that recipe.And what exactly is the bug?
I was just too rich back then and decided to try things out,thats why everthing is so blurry.
But I know now I WANT another armor like that,it roxxorz :laugh:
Help me please.Tell me how did I come up with such an insane def?

cubing the recipe: Tal+Thul+Ptopaz+plain ethereal elite armor

this will get you a random number of sockets. the ethereal defense bonus will be applied once again, giving you around 1000 def. then you make your runeword in that, and you get the %ED bonus from the runeword as well. makes for very nice high def merc armors.

u need a non-superior eth armor. Then put it in the cube and transmute it with a perfect topaz+tal+thul. It will get 1-6 sockets randomly, but since armors can max have 4 sockets if it rolls 5 or 6 i will get 4 instead. This means you have 50% chance of getting 4 sockets and 16.6% for 1, 2 and 3 sockets respectively.

dont forget the burberry shawl and gucci sandals for him too.

but really, my merc got around fine with eth shaft andies and a eth reaper.

imo eth fort is where its at, chilling armor activation will make him dodge 10-30% of all projectiles/fireballs/spears, 300ed will make him hit like a faithzon, and the res is nice.

Hmm...well...actually...now I look at him...and he's currently wearing exactly what you wrote...Ethereal Fortitude.He maxes out at 6k damage...wich makes him a great tank.
The armor is a Christmas gift from a friend of mine,and I totally forgot about it.The armor plus infinity ethereal colossus voulge.
Ok,that kinda puts the old Kasheem way behind.Turns out that hammerdin actually was a very tough killer and it was his merc that got protected by him(he was wielding an insight),and not the other way around,my merc today protecting the sorc.
Funny how the wheel turns...my paladin could live without his companion,cause all he supplied was mana,so if he died,the hammerdin would just kill off the enemies,without a problem,maybe drinking a few blue pots,tp-ing to town and resurrecting his buddy.
My sorc is DEAD without that infinity and that big CV to clean out pesky melee imunes.Thats why when the guy dies,the little girl rushes to town to revive him,not wasting a second.
The things you forget when having fun.
But I'm still gonna make that Stone.I got a barbarian friend who does all the killing,his merc is just support,no actual killing,he could really use that.

stone+shout is really devastating it basicly grants the merc immunity to physical attacks. gl!

Yeah,and my barbarian friend has maxxed shout too.He's on frenzy,and adrenaline addict...he's in rehab now but they'll soon let him loose again.
