Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I an interested to know which skills you are boosting first, it was a tough choice with solo for me (kinda). What is your approach?

Concentration was where I put most of my points, though I also put one into Natural Resistance. I wanted the damage and AR.

@ jiansonz etc.: I *love* having the FRW and FHR from Stealth early on. I still replace it with other things, but I generally can't stand playing characters without FRW... especially because I like to walk a lot (for blocking), and that makes the game very, very slow without help from gear. And as jiansonz said, it makes town trips less tedious.

Also, re: the shrine thing. Yes, they repeat in a way that seems similar to the way item racks drop on a particular map. You don't get the same thing every time, but you seem to get one of a small handful of choices (my guess is it's about 4-5 options).

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

That is totally ignoring other plain socketed gear - sol armours, resist runes or jewels in armours and eth/tir armours for mana regen are all pretty dominant early on. Really, if you get resists elsewhere a multi-sol armour can make you near invulnerable for most of nm. One of the barbs is using a life everlasting circlet at the moment right? Pair that with some sols and watch melee enemies give up in disgust!

I credit this post with saving Amidala from almost certain death against an exploding Griswold while Amped. I had earlier gambled an amulet of life everlasting and decided to wear it because this post was on the mind. Griswold's death took her from a full bulb of life down to 40 hps. I'm sure the amulet kept me alive there!

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I am getting seriously annoyed.
I have yet to take Akbar beyond the Cold Plains, due to being unimpressed with his current weapons (a 'Steel' flail and a 'Steel' Great Axe). I have the runes to make King's Grace, but unbelievably, after repeatedly re-running the Blood Moor, the Den, and the Cold Plains, not a single solitary 3os 1-hander has dropped. Not even a crappy one I wouldn't consider using. And I definitely want to go the 1-hander + shield route, it will be too hard to come by decent resists otherwise.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Jason, have you tried checking out the Mausoleum and Crypt? There are almost always weapon racks there, and rack can be one of the best ways to get good socketed gear.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Finally got Organa started on nightmare this morning, and...

Wow. She could almost be starting hell at this point and be in good standing. She'll be wanting some additional +skills before then, but if she falls in NM it certainly won't be for lack of preparation/effort on behalf of the players in normal. I have quite a bit of work to do if I'm going to improve her noticeably - even the typical crafting targets will have a hard time improving on what she's wearing.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I played Organa in Act 2 as a bow-sorc (basically relying on Tal runes). What build did she turn out being?

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

LOL...and when I got her in ActV, she still had the TalTal composite bow in her stash. Afraid I sold it to clear some inventory room, it was completely superfluous by that point.
I'm guessing you must have been the one that put the 4 points into dex so she could weild it (with the +6 from Stealth)...that's all she has there, so she's NOT a maxblock Sorc, lol...

Her Skills are Firewall, FrozenOrb, and Nova...the Firewall is maxed and GODLY with 'Leaf', her Orb is decent, and Nova is weak, but will improve massively with some development (I did manage to outfit her with >105 FCR on her switch)
I'll post a more detailed report on Organa (and Solo) soon...

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Beautiful job guys:thumbup: That's almost exactly what I had in mind for her when she started out. I really hope I get a chance to take her for a spin.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

SWITCHES for NM ACT 2
You may send your character to the next player as soon as you are ready, and you *must* send your character by Sunday, March 13th.

IMPORTANT: You may not look at your Act 2 NM character until you have sent your Act 1 character to the next player.

One thing's for sure: your odds of getting a barbarian are now a lot lower!

And finally, JoeBruce is the lucky winner of our "we sure hope you liked your Act 1 character" sweepstakes. Congratulations... I hope.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Offee sent to purple locust. Sorry no major upgrades, but I did find a pretty sweet ring.
Good luck!

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Organa will be another couple of days. She finished her Countess runs last night without great success, but she did have a couple moments that served as reminders that this is HC and she isn't actually invulnerable. They weren't NDE's so much as situations that would have been in Hell - a stairtrap of extra fast goatmen and extra strong archers on my first foray into the tower, and a very careless teleport into two boss packs in the countess' chamber. She's at the inner cloister waypoint and should start her Andariel counter tonight...

In other news, a couple weeks ago I never thought I'd say this: I'm really excited to see Dooku again! Looking forward to doing some proper progress with him.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Chewbacca sent to Soulmanz and Antilles received from Jiansonz.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Offee has been resent. Hope she gets there this time. Maybe check spam folder?

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

nualum,

its good you are running behind, because I would prefer another day or 2 with dooku. I feel like I havent progressed him much, and by the standards of a few characters around he may be slightly underlevelled

he is just so damn safe though. as mentioned earlier item luck with crafts has been way less than stellar

hopefully bulk him a little by sunday though, if i can shake of this cold

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Offee received but not yet opened as I haven't quite finished with Ahsoka. She'll soon be ready to go to Jason Maher, though.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Organa's time with Andariel was all too brief (though perhaps not for Emilio, he was killed on eight of the ten runs). She's moving along to Skunkbelly - Enjoy!

@Soulmanz - no worries re: Dooku. I'm not likely to have any time to play between tonight and Sunday. Looking forward to seeing how he's doing then.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Mothma received. I probably won't be able to send Kenobi before Sunday.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Ahsoka the amazon is on her way to Jason Maher.

I opened Offee and she opened up fine.

Good luck to everyone in A2!
