Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I've sent Antilles to Hoop76 three times now but apparently the character hasn't made it yet. I'll try again with a different subject; perhaps the message is getting blocked?

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I received Yaddle and he's comfortably resting at the Kurast Docks. Yep, that's right. I'm taking my time so there.

Same here. My work week will be so hard that I'm too pooped to start the jungle, which I want to do in one sitting. But come next weekend I'll start.

Hi guys, if this still is a problem, maybe trying emailing me the character, and I can forward it... that might work.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

OK, all... I'm going to prevail upon everyone to carefully review the equipment rules one more time. I've had two instances so far of people passing along characters with clear rule violations. I'm looking into them, and will determine whether they seem serious enough to warrant any further action... my gut feeling is that they are honest mistakes, and that the benefit from the infractions was negligible at best. But from this point forward, any gear violations will result in disqualification.

Also, since we've reached our first Power Skill act, please make sure you review the skill rules as well. In act 3, you may select *one* and only one Power Skill for the character.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

The power skill you select. you may put as many skill points into it as wanted correct? But only the one?

Just double checking.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Beru has been received, looking forward to getting started but it will be a couple days before I can.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

In that case, she must have been very underlevelled when you got her. I typically gain a measly 4 levels in Act III, and on rare occasions only 3!

Yes, very. But it made "Players 8" fun:alright:

But like Jiansonz already asked: Can we still put single points in prereqs like in act 2?

Actually, I think jiansonz' question was a little more general: whether or not we can put single points in other skills (prereqs or possible later power skills.) It would be great to know!

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

A rules clarification, please. Now in Act III, we can choose our characters'´s first Power. I have also assumed that (in this act and in Act IV) that we can also do what we did in Act II, i.e. place single points in skills that may later be selected as Powers, or act as prereqs for Powers. Is this correct?

Sorry, I missed this one. Yes, that's correct. If the skill can be a prerequisite for a future Power Skill, a single point may be placed into it in either Act III or Act IV.

And note that this is NOT the case in Act V, or in any act in NM or Hell... after all, at that point, the Power Skills will be fully decided, so there are no more prerequisites to pick.

Exactly - this part was obvious to me.

And once we get to NM difficulty, if we want to use a skill that isn´t a Core skill or a Power, we need to find it as staffmod, oskill or charges. Provided the item in question is equippable, of course.

Great, thanks, but I am still wondering- can I put a single point in a skill which is not a prerequisite to a power skill, but is a possible future power skill? That is, what about the "that may later be selected as Powers" part of the question? Sorry about asking but I just want to make sure before making a mistake!

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I was thinking the same thing. I would say a lvl 30 skill like psn nova isnt a prereq. So putting a point in it unless picked as a power skill is a waste and would be against the rules correct?

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

As I understand it, you can put a total of one point in it in any of Acts III and IV (you could even do in Act II, but you were likely too low in level) because it may be chosen as a Power later.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

OK, let me make sure everyone is clear here:

In act 3, you may:

1. Assign points at will to Core Skills
2. Assign single points to prerequisites for Core Skills, if needed
3. Place single points into skills that can be a *prerequisite* for a future Power skill
4. Select and assign points to ONE, single Power Skill

That's it. #3 is the one that is tricky, and easy to screw up. In response to the previous posts, smilts has the right idea and jiansonz does not.

A level 30 skill can ONLY be a power skill (since it cannot be a prerequisite for anything). So you could not put a single point into it in Act 3, with the idea that someone else might make it a Power Skill. However, you *could* put a single point into Poison Explosion... that skill is a prerequisite for Poison Nova, which could then possibly be used up as a Power Skill later. This also means that there are some level 24 skills that can only be selected as Power Skills (because there is no level 30 skill after them in the tree).

So for example, say you're playing a sorc, and you select Blizzard as your Act 3 Power Skill. Great! However, you could NOT now put a point into Frozen Orb... Frozen Orb cannot be a prerequisite for anything, and the Power Skill has already been selected.

Or another example: you have points in Teleport, since it's a Core Skill for sorceresses... but if you want to put a point into Energy Shield, you can only do so by selecting it as a Power Skill... it is a level 24 skill, but there is no level 30 skill after it in the tree.

If you worry about botching something, just PM me before assigning any questionable skill points. I'm happy to answer, and I'm checking in at least daily, if not more frequently.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

ALSO: Hoop76, you've got both mail and PM. Please get in touch. Thanks.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

I have recieved antilles I got the last 2 from purplelocust and the one from skunk. I really never did recieve the first one, and i havent been around much the last 2 days. Sorry about not getting back herer earlier. I never had any doubt that you sent the char when you said you did.

edit: I found the original after searching through all the spam mail, so it was my fault. I usually do not look through those emails.

Re: Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge 2011

Thanks for the clarification, skunkbelly.

Good thing I have not put any 'single point' in a skill that is the last one down in the tree. I won´t do this in Act IV either, then.

In my defense, I can not find anything in post #81 (the official rules) that clearly says that you can not interpret the rules like I did.

Take for instance this situation in Act II: Bone Prison for a Necromancer. It´s not a prereq. for anything. Couldn´t we have placed a point there with the thought that it might be chosen as a Power by any of the next 3 players?

BTW, Solo the Barbarian is now resting in Pandemonium Fortress.
