Hey, I have never tried this so I though I would ask.

Is it possible to skip nihlathak and head straight for ancients and baal?
(Was thinking about this since it closes the pindleportal).

You can skip him in any difficulty. In fact, most people will indeed skip him (especially in Hell) because 1) his quest doesn't matter, 2) the viper poison damage is stupid, 3) his CE is stupid, and 4) some computers have issues with lag upon entering his temple.

Just FYI, I'm fairly certain that as long as you don't pick up the Halls of Pain waypoint, you can kill him and have the portal still be open.

You might want to take a closer read of the SPF FAQ and the ATMA Sticky. You should also ignore the 'advice' in the Community forum about using Editors. Using them will get you banned.

Are you referring to the editor(or what it was called) as advice?
If that's so, don't worry, there's no fun in not getting items on my own.

Essential Quests:
Act I
Andariel

Act II
Collect Cube, Staff, Amulet; Summoner; Duriel

Act III
a) If you can have a friend who gives you DoH wp/you have a modded patch, Travincial; Mephisto
b) If you don't have a friend, Collect Heart, Eye, Flail, Brain; Mephisto

Act IV
Diablo

Act V
Ancients; Baal

That's all you need to do to complete the game. As you can see, there's a bunch of things you can skip.

It is good to skip Nihlathak quest so you keep the portal open and can do Pindleskin runs. It is very quick and can get you very good items.

As was mentioned earlier in the thread, as long as you dont activate the Halls of Pain WP the portal to Pindle/Temple Entrance stays open, even if you complete the quest.

I thought that you could skip out on killing the summoner. All you had to do is click the book and go through the portal.
