Skip intro sequence

Is there any way to skip the brief Blizzard intro sequence when you start up D2X? Something like a command line parameter?

Right click on your D2 desktop icon, go into properties, and type the following into the Target space:

"C:\Program Files\Diablo II\Diablo II.exe" -skiptobnet

don't forget the space between the .exe" and -

I don't think there's a solution for skipping the intro without trying to connect to bnet, but if there is one, somebody in the single-player forum might know.

The error shows up if the game cannot connect to the game server, no matter what the reason is. Even when specifying -bn 127.0.0.1, the game still cannot connect to the bnet server because you aren't running one at home.

Perhaps you can somehow put up a fake server which leads to a quicker resolution of the connection problem, but I don't really see an advantage to pressing ESC twice to skip the intros.

When going through the intro, the game won't connect to bnet on its own, so unless you press the "connect to bnet" button, the error cannot occur. The -skiptobnet option skips the intros and connects to bnet right away.

Download MPQEditor (Google: MPQEditor)

Open MPQEditor.exe
(1) Click on [MPQs] > [Open MPQ(s)]
(2) Load D2Music.mpq (The REAL intro movies are hidden inside the d2music.mpq. D2video.mpq is just a decoy)
(3) Go to:

[-] d2music.mpq
[-] data
[-] local
[-] video <------

Replace all the .bik files with empty .txt files renamed to the corresponding names of the .bik files inside the 'video' folder:

(1) Create 6 new text files (.txt)

(2) Rename the .txt files, to the names of the .bik files inside the d2music.mpq 'video' folder.

BlizNorth320x480.bik
BlizNorth640x240.bik
BlizNorth640x480.bik

New_BLIZ320x480.bik
New_Bliz640x240.bik
New_Bliz640x480.bik

(3) Delete all .bik files inside the [video] folder of the d2music.mpq file.

(4) Add the empty .bik files you renamed from *.txt to *.bik, to the 'video' folder, inside the d2music.mpg.

(5) Close MPQ

(6) Play Diablo 2 - Lord of Destructions, without the intro :D

(I wish i figured this out 10 years ago. It was so simple and easy to fix)
