Single Pass Untwinked P8 Fury Druid - Fenrir

Update. Wow, hell is hard as ****.

My merc dies way too easily. I can't get my hits going without someone tanking for me. It's been hit and run. The lack of CC is really hurting this Fury Druid. My Frenzy Barb had Howl and Taunt to help.

I felt I definitely needed gear upgrades asap. Firstly, I made a Smoke Armour for my Merc (will swap around with myself). Not much impact though, since I don't think the lack of resistance was what's troubling us.

Next thing was to make a Lawbringer. A 3 Soc Legend Sword dropped in Brood Moor. But I didn't realise that I needed 10 more Str to use it. Thankfully, I kept Strength charms in stash for such emergencies.

This is such a lifesaver. Together with Holy Freeze, it's just enough CC and damage amp for my Merc to survive and take down enemies. I'm mostly using Lawbringer now, and switching to my Bonesnap to sneak some hits when safer. I got a feeling I can still go greedy with 4PTopaz armour.

Cleared Blood Raven, Mausoleum and Crypt. Gain few levels along the way, and put 10 points into Str. Don't need the charms anymore.

Ok, an update. I have just finished Hell A1. Overall, a lackluster run, with no notable drops that would improve my gear except for possible Obedience via Fal rune.

Countess was a literal bitch. Look at what I got.

So was Andy. She dropped me a Chance Guards, which is no longer that useful now. To make matters worse, look at the MF roll.

What a start to hell. Lawbringer again is a lifesaver, but I'm hoping to find Threshers or CAs soon to make Insight (or Obedience if I got runes for Ko).

Sorry I have not been updating for a month. Basically felt burnout with D2 and didn't feel like playing. You see, I always hated Act 2 for melee characters. Mummies are slow to kill, Sarcophagus spawns plenty of them, and Greater Mummies often revives them. Then there's Maggot's Lair & Arcane Sanctuary in which the merc's pathing is really shit and I need to micromanage a lot. Lastly, the Harem/Palace Cellar are filled with Horror Archers/Mages which are very painful when you're not with optimal gear. Basically, Act 2 is a long slow grind.

I have finally cleared Arcane Sanctuary, and am left with the 7 Tombs + Duriel. The journey unfortunately yielded no equipment of value for my Druid. I've been praying for Threshers to drop to upgrade my Insight, unfortunately the only 2 dropped with 2/3 sockets :(

Anyway I will take my time with this, and I reckon I will update in a month's time with the conclusion of Act 2!

I am currently in A5 Crystalline Passage. Slingers are a big pain because their javs deal elemental damage. I also read that apparently there's a bug with them in LoD, in which they ignore Merc or summons. I suppose that's why I get constantly hit by them. I have died like 5-6 times from them already sadly.
A month late but that's by design actually, they have 100% pierce from monprop.txt (data file that handles certain monster bonuses like pierce on A5 slingers and crushing blow on gorebellies) so it pierces right through your merc/summons and continues on to hit you. They certainly hurt and they've got a pretty good chance to hit with the old missile attack rating bug on monsters.

I see! Good to know. It was interesting because while I'm used to the usual scary stuff like Burning Souls, Bone Fetish, Death Lords etc, it's these guest monsters like Poison Viper and Slingers that surprised me with how hard they are to deal with haha

Turns out I'm really updating after a month haha. Finally completed 7 Tombs + Duriel. Very tiring experience. Thankfully, there wasn't any Greater Mummy in the biggest true Tomb, only Blunderbores, Steel Scarabs and Mummies spawned, so it wasn't that draggy.

2 notable loots. First is a Wiz, which is cool but not useful for me.

2nd is a 5 Soc Thresher! Obedience is 100% secured. I've already gotten my Fal, and just need to find a Lum to cube to Ko. Otherwise as per my rules, I will grab a Lum from my shared stash after A4 Forge.

Aside from these, nothing else good dropped. I'm really still hoping for a 4 soc Thresher/CA to drop, so I can upgrade my Merc's weap.

Oh and Duriel was being stingy as usual.

Didn't continue this character for 1 month because I was busy playing something else. Finally have time to progress, and what a great run it was!

Last I stop, I had just reached LK. This run was basically from LK to Trav WP. There was nothing exceptional except in Kurast Sewers 2. Inside a stash laid a Ko rune! With that, I have fully self found all runes for Obedience. Look at this beauty :D

obedience.png

Randomly killed a monster to see my overall stats with Enchant buff. This is such a huge upgrade to Bonesnap War Club. The attack speed is so much superior too. I don't think I need to be that reliant on Lawbringer anymore. Haha!

Still hoping for another Lem rune to share Treachery with merc. We both could use some extra resist!

Anyway, onward to completing Act 3!

Obedience has been a HUGE upgrade DPS wise. Previously, I was heavily reliant on my Merc's damage plus Decrep's CC to help him survive. Now I can charge straight into battle with him. Thresher base means I hit pretty fast, which allows me to sustain my HP with Feral Rage. Act 3 and Meph were easy peasy right after this.

Sadly, shit drops, which is also the theme of this update. Nonetheless, I'm already satisfied with my overall gear and am confident of completing Act 5.

meph dogshit.png

Act 4 was a little more difficult, primarily because my Merc could not survive well enough. Turned out I still had to rely on Lawbringer, but at least I could still dish out the damage together. Forge was not ideal since I already had my Ko rune haha.

forge sad.png

Diablo was quite tricky. Merc stood no chance against his flame/lightning. But I could kite him. Proc decrep, hit him a few times with Obedience CB, rinse and repeat. Slowly but surely, he was slain. Again, nonsense drops.

What I learned from this run though is that Obedience is costly to repair. Coupled with my merc constantly dying, I burnt through about a million stashed gold this whole act to revive/repair. Had to feed on scraps during the last struggle in Chaos. Literally had about 80k left against Diablo haha.

It's been a long while, but now we're reaching the finale. Slowly but surely, we will complete this!

@Duck Your Obedience is costly to repair because you made it in a Superior weapon. I've learned my lesson on repair costs on a Doom superior axe it was over 100,000 gold per durability point. Unless I'm making a runeword for a Merc or it is indestructible I don't use superior items any longer. My Obedience is in a normal thresher and it cost me 273 gold to repair 3 durability points.

Ahhhh. Ok lesson learned. And it's not like I had extra %ED haha. But then again, I could not choose because that's the only 5S Thresher that dropped. The rest were 2-3 soc, one 4 soc (Insight), none white. Can't be a chooser for single pass :D

I think I can use Ort rune to repair though? Got plenty stashed ;)

Introducing Patriach Fenrir! :)

patriach fenrir.png

There hasn't been any updates for months, because there wasn't anything worth updating about sadly.

Slow and steadily, Fenrir pushed through. Cheated a little though because I didn't want to deal with Slingers or Tomb Vipers due to their bug, so I S/E if I saw they were the guest monsters. Everything else was fine with me.

Sadly I had 2 deaths whereby I could not recover my body. I had ended my previous session in Ancients' Way without completing Icy Cellar. As this is a Single Pass full clear run, in my next session I had to run through the area to Icy Cellar without killing monsters. Sadly before I reached the entrance, I got surrounded by Hell Lords and died. No way to recover my body haha. Second death was against the Ancients. They were not difficult, but I was on low health and being stingy with my Full Rejuv. Thought I could lifeleech my way but Talic decided to do 1 big WW and killed me. With no nearby TP, I had to restart my game.

WSK was uneventful and smooth. Hell Tempress were tricky because of PI, especially if the Unique was Cursed. Only good drop was a Tal's Helm which I did not exactly need. Stealth + my handy AR/LR/CR rare Ring in stash meant Burning Souls wasn't a problem.

ring.png

The act 2 minion wave was actually the most problematic out of all 5 waves. Rest were easy by slowly dragging and separating them. Baal too posed little issue. I equipped Death Sash's CBF, proc'd some Decrep with Lawbringer and slowly withered him down with Obedience's CB. Look at those shit drops though haha.

baal booo.png

Overall, Fenrir gameplay felt very similar to my Frenzy Barb, minus the crowd control (Howl/Taunt etc). Managing to self find an Obedience was so satisfying. Most clutch item however was still the Lawbringer. I would never be able to succeed without it. I only wished another Lem dropped, as merc and I could really use the Treachery buffs.

Guess we're near the end! Only Cows when I feel like doing it. Then next would be my Strafezon! See you next time!

Ok. Officially done with Fenrir after I cleared Cows (nothing good as usual). I declare single pass untwinked P8 full clearFury Druid to be possible (albeit with slight favourable guest monster rolls 😁).

Here is my Character Stats.

Not as fruitful as my Frenzy Barb, but this char couldn't hork!!!

Hardest boss to kill was surprisingly a random unique maggot in A2 that had Stone Skin + PI I think. Literally took me like 20 minutes of hitting with Lawbringer to finally kill it, especially since it heals so fast!

Time to close this character. Thanks to all who read and gave me advices! :)
