Shield any good?

I want to make an Exile but cant find an ideal shield.

I found an eth Protector Shield with def. ~ 175-200 and 42 all resists
.
Is this good to bug?

Can I upgrade it to a Kurast shield, but I don't think I can up an eth right?

Do I feed to charsi?

If I did get nice Glitch as a Protector Shield, you would like it, even though it is not an elite shield?

I have another exceptional shield with similar stats in an eth Royal Shield.
Would these shields be worth making Exile in if 4 soc glitched?
 
Resale value suffers in these cases,and smite damage won't be the best possible but if you can't find/afford anything elite,go for it.
 
An elite, high res shield will cost a fortune, so if the shield is for personal use and you are using Grief, it's not a bad option. The damage difference is minor and the defense will still be pretty high if you have a good base roll.

I like the Royal shield the best (by far) of any of the Exceptional options. It has the best block, best defense, and best Smite damage. Except for the smite damage, it is better than some of the Elite shields.

To clarify, King said you cannot up it.
