Scam!!

So not sure if this is the place to post this or not, but I was just hard core scammed. Do not ever go to website deleted. There is a false link there to install an updated version of adobe that will cause you to drop all your equipment and then shuts down your computer. I just lost dracs, tgods, highlords, ravenfrost, dwarfstar, and a few other items. Fortunately I have other chars that are equiped, but don't want anyone else to fall victem to this

Awesome idea, posting the link.

What exactly adobe did you need to update? Because the only "adobe" thing I have on this computer is Flash Player, I use foxit for pdfs now.

Are sure it was the site itself that is at fault, might've been a maliciously place ad or something?

With firefox and adblock/noscript I don't see anything there :/

I look up the site with a use of proxy server, and it IS a scamming site.
The adobe update thingy is obviously a scam, you won't see anything there as the icon has an extension .png (a extension for picture), which no scrpit has involved in this afaik.

The link given for the so-called update is an .exe file, and it IS not linked to adobe's main website (ie www.adobe.com etc). Instead, it linked to its website, and it IS dodgy enough.

Conclusion: A website for scamming purpose. DO NOT EVER, EVER GO TO THE WEBSITE, NOR DOWNLOAD ANYTHING FROM IT. DO NOT USE THAT TO TEST OUT THE STRENGTH OF YOUR ANTIVIRUS/ANTI-SPYWARE EITHER, UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO LOSE STUFF.

Edit: It also mentioned to drop in your account name and password for stuff, which is obviously (cough) scam (cough)...

As a side note, I reported the site to bravenet -- also, have you run any antivirus or anti-spyware type things?

That exe might've been more then just a "drop your item" type of deal, it might have also included a keylogger or trojan of some kind.

Haha. What did they tell you it was? MH? Or maybe some MF Hack? Maybe even a dupe program? Come on... I'm dieing to know!
A lot of scams make me almost feel bad for people, but going to a random site while in game? Tisk, tisk.

^ How does that relate to adobe?

I can't imagine why the maker would do this... the idea is so flawed. The site provides a fake upgrade for adobe... which has nothing to do with D2? If it targets D2 players, I just don't see how efficient it would be at stealing items.

you'd be surprised how many people are dumb and have no common sense with basic computer stuff.
its easily plausable that someone will believe a random adobe update is legit when visiting a site.

Well, there are only so many things that can be reasonably expected to pop up and ask for an update mid-surfing. And the op told us how efficient it is. Greed is worse than any drug for affecting people judgment. Claim to offer something for nothing and some people just can't control themselves, no matter how much nonsense is involved.
