Runes of Ragnarok - Item Find Thread (August 2025)

A very interesting but completely wasted axe on a set bowazon, it should have gone to a double swing barbarian or charger paladin or something instead.

Later during the same session this dropped, which would have completed the dual wielding setup. With cleglaw's gloves added, the enemy would have been just about decrepified. On the other hand, I don't know if a unique elite bow would have been much happier to come across for her. Maybe it would have been reason enough to hire a rogue though.

It's been a good day so far!
RaaL is farming keys in the hope of getting a Necro torch, and Nihlathak is very generous with the key drops today.
One of our CE battles ended with him dropping a unique ring which turned out to be an SoJ ! :)

There's no better feeling than getting an important item to drop for the first time.
Dclone, beware!

Actually a pretty great claw for a kicker I think, considering all useful things it would add. Just misses some life stealing but cobra strike could take care of that. A treasure for sure in early nightmare.

On a side note, valkyrie white armour is too rare! It takes several minutes to summon one with the right uniform most sessions.

Dang TopHatCat, I thought I might have the find of the day, congrats.

So, long time, no post. But I've been playing a couple projects lately. My current focus is trying to make a Guardian after all these years. I know, it's embarrassing I haven't made it yet. I've never claimed to be terribly good at D2, just stubborn. Anyways, this is my best HC find by leaps and bounds. I should have taken a screenshot of it on the ground, but after taking 25 unique scourges to find my first lash, I didn't really have much hope. And honestly, I'm out of practice.

HC_Lash.png

On the plus side, I ran into an issue, one of the seal boss packs spawned right around me and had to make a quick exit. Bummer, but now I can go and socket this, toss a hel in it, and it's a huge upgrade for my sin dealing with lightning immunes.

Edit: Make that very out of practice. I forgot hel wouldn't reduce the required level. Oh well, I'm close, maybe I'll get to smack Baal with it a few times.

Gambling today and I got this super weird ring. Three resist prefixes, zero suffixes. Never seen that before.
Screenshot050.png

Then I got a real shock with a bona-fide five point ring. I have a couple four point rings, but never gotten a rare ring this "good" before. I say "good" because the points system says it's good, but if I'm rocking a rare ring, it's pretty much always because I need leech or FCR. A pure stat ring is kind of... underwhelming. Would have been cool it it rolled MF or GF as a sixth affix.

Congrats on your luck. Love a Hunter build, what bow are you using? I was running upped Goldstrike Arch for a while but recently swapped to an upped WWS, better resists and hits the last breakpoint more easily.
I've spent a long time on that question. Right now I have an upped, Shael Shael WWS. The resists are nice but on /p8 the damage is pretty poor. I've built for +skills rather than IAS so I'm just accepting an 11 frame bowshot.

Other things I've considered, mostly with the idea of giving support against phyiscal immunes:
- Hellrack
- Gut Siphon
- Glimmershred
- Lacerator (seems wonderful until you realise that "Hit Causes Monster to Flee" overwrites the Ampify Damage)

I'd love to try Wrath but that does not seem like a good use of runes.

Yeah I ran /p7 through Hell A1 but it slowed down to a crawl. I'm running /p3 now just to keep the momentum up.

I have him geared for IAS/DPS but have a big +skills boost as a "pre buff" set (2x spirit, silks of the victor, +3 amu) and several +summon charms.

I've thought about trying to work GFace in but Jalal's is too useful to pass on. I could hit the last breakpoint on upped Goldstrike with Andy's Visage but resists would take a huge hit and proccing Fade from Treachery has not been consistent enough to rely on.

I might go War Travs over Gores though, I think they work better with WWS.

@Nazdakka Wrath is a powerful bow even though most people don't think it is. I don't think it would be a waste of a Ber. Of course, if you had a Cham Mist would be even better.

- Glimmershred

I have seen people write Glimmershred instead of Gimmershred too many times now to assume that is a coincidence. Is there a deeper reason for why this item can not be spelled correct?

- Lacerator (seems wonderful until you realise that "Hit Causes Monster to Flee" overwrites the Ampify Damage

Yeah that is why double throw barbs never use lacerators (but they always does!)

Yeah that [HCMTF overwrites Amplify Damage curse] is why double throw barbs never use lacerators (but they always does!)
Lacerator worked great for me a few years ago as a druid shapeshifter's melee weapon against champions and uniques. (Those can be Amplified but the "run away!" curse doesn't affect them.)

I dunno, "Glimmershred" just feels like a more natural name to me, maybe because I've been getting it wrong for so long and become used to it.

If I was speculating, I guess...
  • Glimmer is an actual English word, while "Gimmer" is a pair of syllables that almost never comes up in English
  • Glimmer kind of evokes the elemental damage that's the weapon's main feature
  • It's worked its way into our D2 culture and everyone gets it wrong so everyone else copies the wrongness.

On topic, from TZ Travincal just now:

Screenshot084.png
Sadly, the roll is middling: -16/+12

Glimmer is a word almost everyone knows. Gimmer is a word for a small stick that very few people know unless they know about Yoda's Gimmer stick. Gimmershred cuts all the small sticks in the tree or something.
