Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread
This is subjective thinking.
I have stated I merely took what I thought were the relevent points and brought those to light. After Asrrin pointed out this is a "classic" scum tell. I considered this and changed my methods even though I do not like humongus walls of quotes.
Prior to my changes you could have used the walks like a duck thinking. It might be worth opening up your mind a bit now. I have nothing to hide. But I don't understand how others can be allowed to edit and not be held to the same standard that caused such an uproar. If you allow yourself to be distracted by me you might miss something important.
Here is Gory's post you mentioned:
You've mentioned Occam's Razor.:jig:
Which post?
Again, I'm wondering why you, of all people, need to ask these questions.
In no particular order:
It's possible to work toward a lynch without having a vote at the time or at the end of the day. It's working toward a lynch: not lurking toward a lynch. I normally phrase it "pursuit of a lynch." Since this is night and since you said you would do a deep meta analysis on me this night, I'll help you with phrases to look for.
It's possible to not vote the lynchee because you think they aren't scum. I'm not claiming this reason this game. I'm claiming this reason in the WoT game. I voiced my displeasure at The Plan several times.
I worked toward obtaining a lynch on D1. I asked lots of questions of lots of players. I gave lots of opinions. To imply that Noodle and I had such similar behavior that I deserve scolding for calling him out is to admit you didn't pay attention to anything I have written this game.
In case you didn't notice (I guess not), I had a vote yesterday. In case you didn't notice (I guess not), I placed myself in a position to change my vote before the scheduled end of day.
Notice I'm not interrogating you for not having a vote at the end of the day or not voting the lynchee. Why? Because you engaged in pursuit of a lynch.
You realize that I'm the pitcher and you're the batter in this analogy?
Please to read the entire thought:
Voting randomly is a path to a town loss. If you lynch 2 or 3 townies for every mafia, then mafia are going to win. On the other hand, if you lynch only 1 townie for every mafia, town has a chance at winning.
Lynching for information without considering the scumminess of the player lynched is the epitome of a random lynch. In other words, the epitome of a town loss.
I checked to see if you thought Skjolde was scummy before that "let's lynch for information" post. You did. I feel confident in saying you didn't lynch for information. I feel confident in saying you lynched someone you thought was scummy.
Thank you.
Isn't there a term for that?
Did your selective quoting lead you to a better understanding of korialstraz?
Sathoris quotes these parts in 427:
"Again, I'm wondering why you, of all people, need to ask these questions.

Read both and compare the two - Sath does not actually change the meaning of anything Gory said. He cut it up along paragraphs already made by Gory. He only leaves out sentences that have nothing to do with what he is quoting.
Now on to what you did, here is kol's quote in full:
Wall of text incoming. Sorry for not being any more active than I was at the start of the day. I thought I posted here that I'd be away until the evening (or night as it is now), because I helped a friend to trouble shoot some computer issues. And since we needed a new high end video card to do so, I brought my own.
Why do you think it's just flavour? Every single game I've been so far has revealed some clues and hints in the story, nothing too obvious, but they are there. You're right about not needing to discuss the story any further atm though (imo). With that said, I will reference the story if it makes sense doing so while discussing the dream and what effects it might have.
I can only think of two reasons.
1. They don't have the dreams fully explained to them, so they have almost as much guess work to do, just like we do with the story hints.
2. If a dream is chosen that only affects night actions, then it would make sense that they are applied either during the upcoming day phase or the next night phase. Especially if since the story seems to hint at a dream that will interfere with investigative results.
Answered above. I'd say either 1 day phase or 1 night phase, depending on the dream.
Absolutely no idea on that part. If they have a mix of reusable and 1 shot dreams, then maybe 6-7? If they are only 1 use, 12-14? Ofc this is impossible to guess at I think, as it also largely depends on how powerful the dream effects are.
If they have dreams that can be used multiple times, there needs to be some restriction. If there aren't, scum can basically use the current dream (if it turns out to block investigations) and be immune to investigations. Most likely they are either 1 use or a mix where 2 (maybe 3) are reusable.
Or he was doing just what I did, and tried figuring out what the dream actually did. Granted he did so very early, and in a very direct manner. I'd have done the exact same thing in my first game, so I don't see much scum there tbh. I'm a bit interested in why my name as well as the names of others discussing the effects the dream could have on investigative results where not mentioned at all.
I've got my red flag ready...
Well maybe. I would be surprised if they didn't get to know anything of what the dreams could possibly do. But at the same time it sounds a bit OP to know the exact mechanics of dreams, considering that every player (including scum) is supposed to have a power role of sorts.
No? If you only ask that because I was active at the start of the game, and not at all afterwards for several hours then I don't understand what you hope to gain from it. Especially since I posted in this very thread that I would be away.
@Sath: Always so fun to see how you (among others) play mafia games! Feels good to be back in one. Looking forward to many days of fun! =D
You quote:
"...scum can basically use the current dream (if it turns out to block investigations) and be immune to investigations. Most likely they are either 1 use or a mix where 2 (maybe 3) are reusable..."
You didn't even quote the whole sentence! Why did you cut the extra line that actually makes this look a lot less scummy? It looks to me like you are trying to manipulate the words, which as I have said is not town friendly.
Also, from the origonnal quote above you said
"Prior to my changes you could have used the walks like a duck thinking. It might be worth opening up your mind a bit now. I have nothing to hide. But I don't understand how others can be allowed to edit and not be held to the same standard that caused such an uproar. This tone reminds me of how you were acting under pressure last game. The best word I have to describe it is haughty. Could be you play like that as town too, but this is more than enough to convince me you are the top target for today.
