Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Hmm. I think I'm on sath's side with the cop-claiming thing. I (even though I read gory's explanation and kinda understand it) don't think it was the smartest thing to do. However, I'm still buying the claim - claiming cop this early as scum without having NK'ed anybody.. Well, yeah..

Ank's semi-claim is interesting. Do you know who had the NK ability (sorry if you've already mentioned this, I'm just about to leave work and haven't got time to go back).

I really have a weird feeling about Glib. The whole quoting thing, offering to take the locking vote even though it wasn't possible, repeatedly mentioning the godfather, etc.

Most likely my favourite candidate for a lynch today. To me it seems more substancial than lynching Autti. Would however like to see some more suggestions/reasoning from other people. I do also like gory's BA/Val idea. Especially Val.

So Frederick, do you have any comments on post #447?? I pointed to something in the middle and no one has said anything about it. Seems like such a hot topic.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

The reasons for me wanting to vote for Ankeli are follows:

I had a suspicion that possibly anti-town wouldnt be able to post during the night. This was not the case, but maybe it was with Ankeli?
We all seem to agree that the reason we were able to night talk was the dream. Doesnt someone have to be dreaming? Ankeli maybe?

That is about it. Just random thoughts I had during the night phase.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Also the whole goryani mess...

Who are you targetting today? Might as well do it and give the results. I dont like a lot of what you are saying though, and not sure I understand your claim, especially during the night when you could have been nked the next day for this claim. Dont you think youd be a high target after claiming late in the night? What if the doc didnt have a chance to check back online? Seems off

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

I found interesting that Gory would choose to claim (if he's telling the truth, of course). I'd guess that his thread exposure would make him a viable NK target, so I suppose claiming wasn't such a bad idea. Regarding Ankeli, he seems legit for now, but I find weird that Bad Ash thinks he might be mafia due to it and avoiding night talk. Maybe he's deflecting?

I'm going to jump into Caluin's wagon regarding Korialstraz; his slip on D1 was blatantly obvious, despite Glib's devious manipulation, which makes me think they are not on the same side. Korial's interest in Sath, and Gory's claim, makes perfect sense if taken from a scum perspective.

Vote: Korialstraz

I assume your post 447, where you pointed out Sath replying to Goryiani?

So this is a classic scum tell then?

Why isn't Sathoris called on his selective quoting? Is it because he wears a hat? I'm not big on hats, messes up my hair. I do wear a helmet on the motorcycle but that's not really a hat.

I did see that and forgot to reply after the discussion about Ankeli started. Sath cut Gory's quote into paragraphs and replied to each part individually. Looking at what Gory said and what Sath quoted, there does not appear to be any context lost, the quotes seem to accurately convey the meaning that Gory had in his origonal post.

You on the other hand cut out the first piece of the paragraph when you quoted kol, and it changed the meaning of what kol actually said. You don't have to quote entire walls of text, but when it looks like you were manipulating a quote to make it say something it didn't originally, that is highly suspicious.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Votes as of #506

Korialstraz(2): Caluin Graye, Valharous
Ankeli(1): Sathorsis

10 to lynch

38 hours left by my count.

Other note: I'm gonna be around for the next 4 or so hours then not around until about 6pm GMT tomorrow. I'll try and post another vote count before I sleep, but tomorrow my usual vote counts won't be popping up until later, sorry.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Flubb, you're the most suspicious on my list. At least for now, and at this point I don't think it's needed to say for what reasons. Those have already been covered quite a bit earlier. The others on my suspicoun list, BA and Autti has dropped down quite a bit. At least for now. So...

Vote: flubbucket

Checking back again tomorrow. Going to play some Heroes 6 before going to bed.

It was just a thought I had regarding the game mechanics. Someone cant be dreaming unless they are sleeping? And he came out and said this right away, I wouldnt even have noticed he hadnt posted (despite thinking it could be a possibility). Hes not the top of my list, those were just two things that pinged my radar that I was looking for others to possibly comment on, debunk, or agree with as possibilities because honestly I am not sure

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

That's actually interesting, BA.

Ankeli hung a lantern on the fact that he didn't post last night, which seemed odd to me. Almost as if he was compelled to explain himself. And I wondered whether there has to be a downside to a mafia's "dream" facility, something that the mafia "dreamer" (for want of a better expression) has to do, or suffer, as a result of employing the dream.

Wild speculation. Probably nothing.

This is subjective thinking.

I have stated I merely took what I thought were the relevent points and brought those to light. After Asrrin pointed out this is a "classic" scum tell. I considered this and changed my methods even though I do not like humongus walls of quotes.

Prior to my changes you could have used the walks like a duck thinking. It might be worth opening up your mind a bit now. I have nothing to hide. But I don't understand how others can be allowed to edit and not be held to the same standard that caused such an uproar. If you allow yourself to be distracted by me you might miss something important.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Bad Ash, I would be surprised if that's correct. (About a player needing to dream, becoming a de facto post restriction.) The sign-up thread was very clear to name the evil being the "Dreaming God." I find it hard to interpret this as anything other than the god doing the dreaming. I guess it's possible, but doesn't seem logically consistent.

I agree that the dream thing is probably just a fun theory to think about. Seems unfair from a gameplay point of view to single someone out like that.

I still see Korial and flubb as the top prospects for today. Autti should be on that list too, but he's been quiet so far today (I know he explained why). So I'm waiting until he makes some posts before I start jumping on trains.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Turns out to be pretty entertaining. At least from my point of view. For better or worse I think I'm going to remember this game for a while.

I do also like gory's BA/Val idea. Especially Val.
You'd like to see my what?

Ankeli is probably not insane enough to out himself this early on, so I am prepared to believe he has some "Seer" power, for the time being.
Dr. Breen having a lapse?

I went back to make a count of all the posts between end of day and beginning of day and came up with the following:
FoE - 2
flubb - 14
Goryani - 10
coju - 3
autti - 7
kegs - 7
korial - 3
pyro - 2
Asrin - 9
Loz - 2
Noodle - 2
Sath - 2
BA - 2
Gwaihir - 3
CG - 3
Solar - 2
Laarz - 2
Val - 1

Oops. Someone gets all my lint. ~75% of the players too close together. Even if some are hiding, you can't tell by looking at the post counts.

Regardless of my obvious spam, I would welcome an investigation.
Last game, the mafia ninja said something similar to the townie tracker. You've mentioned godfather a lot too. Would investigating you and getting an innocent result convince the town?

So Frederick, do you have any comments on post #447?? I pointed to something in the middle and no one has said anything about it. Seems like such a hot topic.

I have comments if you comment on my question at the bottom of 419.

Who are you targetting today? Might as well do it and give the results.
You're assuming I get results before the end of the day.

Can't have downside without an upside. What would be the upside to mafia-dreamer-Ankeli sleeping so everyone else can post at night?

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Here is a nice family portrait. I only wish Autti were here as well. He is mentioned quite prominently though.

Last I might say on this cause I dont want it to be a distraction for the town...but we obviously dont know what the dream did for the mafia. It did something. They got to choose it! They would know that the town could talk at night, and got something because of this if I am interpreting it correctly.

Can't have downside without an upside. What would be the upside to mafia-dreamer-Ankeli sleeping so everyone else can post at night?

I am assuming the everyone can post at night was obviously not the only thing they got out of it, otherwise why would they choose it? They probably didnt assume people would role reveal cop O_O. I dont think this would be chosen as the only benefit of the dream, unless they had X amount of options and had to choose this one early on to save more powerful ones later on?

This is wild speculation, but, seriously...

I dont think it is far fetched to think that to have this be the dream option that someone wouldnt be allowed to post. It would be a major downside to the dream, yes, but arent the dreams without some sort of negative consequence insanely OP?

I'm actually not Dr Breen this round, and thank you for bringing up that painful memory /LOL

That is unknown. I have to assume there is one though, provided you accept for the moment that the aforementioned downside is real.

Do we know they choose the specific dream? Perhaps it is a random number generator type thing.

Can't help but think RlyehExiled might want to save a little surprise for his own enjoyment.
