Riphook Razor Bow...

22-62 dmg.... 30% IAS 184% ED 9% life leech...30% chance to cause open wounds...slows target by 30% ... 35 to mana....

found after killing diablo in nightmare with the group of guys I play with... im lvl 59...strafe build so far what do you guys think of this bow? Here is a link to all three of the bows I have in my possession at the moment. Help a new guy out what should I do :)

riphook is one of my favourites....socket it and put a sheal in the hole.

it will be a nice bow until the later acts in nm.
 
What? Whoa, wait a minute CDM. The Ripper is pretty nice bow for mid level.

SURESNIPE, use the Riphook. Socket it with Shael. This will ease your need for off weapon IAS. 10 additional IAS will get you to 9/2 (5/2/4) strafe, 30IAS will max out your speed. This will free up your equipment slots for things like an Atma's ammy.

thanks for the help... I was going to say...my first exceptional unique bow i find someone says sell it :( haha.... alright should I socket it with the cube recipe or wait till the quest in act 5 nm.... i just got to act 5...

oh i'm not doubting the power of riphook. i've used worse, but those other two? come on!

Riphook is nice. Offers good crowd control for a mid-level bowazon. Combine with Atma's + Crushing Blow to make it more powerful, although I think it is not viable for Hell (unless upgraded but damage would be a little low, like around 120-130 according to a weapon upgrade calc I'm using).
 
I just wanted to let you guys know I did manage to find a Shael and I put it in the riphook and it is working gloriously right now :) thanks for the tip

About the poison bow. I see that you stuck a pskull in it for leech. But imo that skull is wasted, because you dont do much damage at that lvl, so you will not leech much. It would be much better to add more poison damage.
 
yea I realized that.... as I said in an earlier post....I just got back into the game and I'm starting to learn the ways of the amazon. That is why I keep asking questions to prevent further errors. :)
 
The Riphook is a pretty descent bow all things considered.

I'd hang on to it until something better comes along.

I'm using a Shael'd one on a strafer I'm building right now and she does pretty darn good with it.

I agree with CDM regarding the other two bows, though. I'd dump 'em for gold. . .you could probably gamble better rare bows easily.

Heck- you may even be able to gamble a better bow than the Riphook. Some Rares out there are just utterly amazing.
 
yea I just finished Nightmare and I am currently lvl 71... I have the runes to make the rune word Harmony so should I just try to find a Matri bow or GMB or should I trade for one. I haven't traded on these forums before so I am not really sure what to do right now.
 
If you are on USWest Ladder, I can give you a free +1 Matriarchal Bow or two. I have some sitting on mules and currently no use for them. However, they are not socketed, so they'd need to be socketed via the Horadric Cube recipe. If you are on West and would like them, please PM me.

You can make a "Harmony" in a MB if you want a lot of flexibility with equipment, as they don't require much IAS to reach a good Strafe speed (9/3 or 9/2). A "Harmony" in a Grand Matron Bow will offer more damage, but require a lot more IAS to hit the last breakpoint (and that means tighter requirements on what equipment you need). I think it's 120% IAS. If you have the equipment to do that, then I could see going with a GMB. Depends on what you have available. :smiley:

When trading for the bows, +3 MB or GMB will fetch high prices, probably in runes like Pul to Um. +1 or +2 should only be a few perfect gems. When trading for them, if you're going for +1 or +2, try to seek out superior (10-15% enhanced damage) and already 4-socketed. Don't demand any less. A good roll on a "Harmony" can net you up to 275% ED and plus a 15% ED bow, make a total of 300% ED. If it was close to that, it'd be absolutely magnificent.
 
thanks.... actually i just found a +2 MB but it already has 3 sockets.... :( yea i think i am just going to trade for a +2 MB because i dont really have that good equipment and all that... so it would just cost me a few pgems?

Harmony is made for mat bow. It has no ias and lots of preset damage modifiers. If you go for gmb, you will be in problems with ias and you are counting on the little onweapen ed you find - 200% ed if you aren't lucky. With a mat bow, this is much less of a problem as you will easily take advantage of the elemental damage - as in, you won't have much ais problems - and the +9 average damage will give you more 'virtual' onweapon ed then you will find on the gmb.
Note that mat and ko have about the same lvl req, so you can use it from lvl 41 IIRC. Really, harmony and matriarchal bow were composed for each other.
 
Thanks for the advice NASE... now I just have to get my hands on a +2 Matri with 4 sockets...(i would say +3 but I don't have the stuff to trade for that :(...)
