Return to D2 Realm or Start HellGate: London ?
Hello everyone:
I started playing D2 when I was 17, which was 7 years ago. Just recently I've this itch again and planning to start the D2 addiction for the third time in the past 7 years. The very last time I quit this game was due to 3 main reasons: I finished building my godly Hammerdin at around lvl 90, I had enough wealth that any repetition in MF comes to a diminished return, and I eventually got bored of this game simply becouse I've lost interest playing in the long run besides randomly PvP.
I've had 5 different types of godly or semi-godly characters including WW barb, Hammerdin, Bowazon, Bliz/Meteor/Orb Sorc, PvP Necro. Those characters with their particular built were the ones I found most interested in.
I've being reading on this forum for a while now and it's unfortunate for me to see that all sorts of hacks and dupes are still present in the latest patch 1.11b. Besides that, it seems that the average maturity "mentally" has got even worsen than in the past. Like such stuff I read worries me, "tptptptptptptp," "give ME! Free Plz," etc sorts of spams that clogs up half of the screen. In addition, while I was still an active ladder player on the USWest server, there were still some generous and courteous random individuals who would help you with rushes or free donations. It makes me feel kind of old to say that back in the days more people seems to be nicer and "less realistic" in general eventhough no one knows each other. Yes, there were still hackers and idiots trying to rip you off. But it just seems the present D2 Bnet Multiplayer online community has evolved to become an even more realistic and harsh environment with lower mental maturity in general than in the past. Please don't include yourself in as I sincerely don't mean anyone one of you on this forum.
I never had to go through the trouble of finding a "trustworthy" person on a un-official D2 site regarding trades but it seems now the multiplayer online community is even less secure than in the past that randomly trading with anonymous would not be the wise idea becouse chances are the item(s) or rune(s) you just got from the trade may go "poof."
If I tell you I had quite a few buddies who I randomly met on Bnet USWest became each other's trustworthy Xfer and donator after we've spent some time together playing, would you belive me? I didn't have to go through the trouble of advertising and posting on the forum seeking for trade/help or of any sort so I could avoid getting ripped off, cheated due to the present D2 Bnet multiplayer community.
Becouse of everything I've metioned from the first paragraph, I've come to a dilemma that I'm not sure if I want to spend $49.99 Canadian dollars in getting the D2 Battlechest box set (yes, I'd prefer to buy a brand new copy 100% legit CD-Key "locally" if I decided to play this game) or right now is the perfect timing for me to move on to the next successor to the D2 francise - HellGate: London developed by Flagship studio who are well known to be the founder and creator of everyone's fav mmorpg D2/LOTD. Since we're so close to the official release date of HGL by Oct 31st, I'm really not sure if I want to get back in the D2 "circle" and fear that I'll eventually reaches an "end" like I've been experiencing for the past 7 years.
I'm kindly asking for your opinion here as there are no friends who I can talk to about this particular dilemma that I'm struggling to deal with for the last week so I'm turning here for helpful pointers and constructive advices.
