Re: Ravenwood Retreat Mafia Game.
I think going with the four main mafia plus one regular Serial Killer would have been better. Then change the Coroners as below plus remove the backup though still masoned and maybe change the Bodyguard to a Jailkeeper. Poison then being allowed to ignore JK saves, with the possibility of one more mafia member gaining the poison NK ability. Including a few different flavors of vanilla townie might have been a good change to the setup. It seemed there was a fair amount of soft claiming based on that.
I had expected they’re be more bodies on the ground throughout the game than there were. Leo was the first kidnap victim and didn’t have to be investigated. The second and third times, both the mafia and Krazeyivan targeted the same person. Laarz didn’t last long enough to make any vigiliante attempts. Then there were the two doc saves. So ThunderCat didn’t have to make too much of a choice on who to investigate on each day.
Originally more of the roles had percent based abilities. The Coroner ended up being the only role that still had a percent activation chance. If I were to use the role again, I’d change the Standard Investigation to give just the target’s alignment. Or have it give role + alignment and give the mafia fake claim names. Thorough I’d change the action to take two day/nights to complete, but give alignment, full role information on abilities, and half to all of the actions. I was considering giving the coroner more exact descriptions for how the players died, but decided the role was getting more than enough information already.
Sathoris’s Manipulation ignore ability ended up being almost useless since the bus driver was gone the first day and the roleblocker never made it into the lineup.
I’m not sure if the 16 day posts soft limit in the mafia QT was restrictive enough. I think a 12 hard limit would have been better.
I think giving Noodle (the traitor) one mafia player name might have been better than giving him none.
Framing ended up having little effect on the game since Laarz died the second night and Marahumm only ended up getting two investigations off. The electrical issues on the 2nd day was Marahumm getting roleblocked. Maybe just as well that it didn't since the game was so close.
I gave the Mad Scientist the item ability to help balance out his less frequent kills. But I wanted to give him an ability that had a trade-off. So kits could be given to any player regardless of alignment and the kits could even be used against him. He himself couldn’t use the kits, they had to be given and his target was not told from whom he received the item. I guess I should have stated somewhere early on that items could be held by any alignment. He had investigation immunity as well but could be framed just like anyone else. Perhaps, I should have added an FBI agent that could find him.
His kidnapping ability would ignore doctor protects and bulletproof, but still be susceptible to the bodyguard and his target being watched. As well as having his captive freed should he be lynched or killed on the following day/night.
Other thoughts on the game:
I suspected this would be a close game, but wasn’t sure what I should do after the two Mod-kills. At first I though switching Noodle to a vanilla role would work. But I then reconsidered the idea after examining the amount of power roles still in play for the town. So Noodle ended up being Pro-Town for 13 hours.
I’m not sure how Bad Ash got away with his slip of Feysal’s role being common knowledge before ThunderCat had investigated his body.
For most of the game, the mafia team didn’t guess that Noodle might be the traitor. Bad Ash was more concerned that Noodle might out him as mafia than to suspect him as the traitor. It wasn’t until after Noodle was locked that Bad Ash figured it out.
Here’s the City Slicker Role PM, followed by Valhauros’s claim. Should I have allowed his claim to stand without a mod-kill?

You are the City Slicker, Pro-Town.
You’ve come to Ravenwood Retreat for a relaxing vacation in the countryside.
You have only your wits to help you.
You win when all anti-town threats have been eliminated and at least one Pro-Town player lives.

I’m not sure how to rate the accelerated start mechanic. There seemed to be a little bit more vote activity in the start of day than usual. I’m not sure if that made up for the hassle and confusion it caused. I’m curious to what Feysal’s opinion is on this.
Should the game be paused or just extended on Saturday’s in the future? It seems that most people will be online for some time on both Friday and Sunday. However, Saturday seems to have overall low player activity.
At least for this game, the mafia never wanted to cheat with their votes. Both times there were invalid votes they had wanted the votes to count. So I’m not sure that being able to cheat with the votes is a necessary feature.
