Questions regarding Mages

Hey all!

INterested in making a Mage, even thoguh i go t no funds to make one for now :laugh:

Anywayz, lets get to da point!

1. Honestly, which one is better/useful: Hammer + foh with Hoto or hammer with Hoto and Foh with a stick?

2. Now a question for the stick, what would be the best possible combination for the stick? Im assuming its a 5socs war scepter with....+3 BH +3 conv +3 holy shock and +3 foh? (lol that must be unbelieveably expensive lol)

lol i thought i had more questions than these 2....anyways more will come up when they come up in my mind:laughing:

Yup, limited to three. And unless you want to have holy shock on, the staffmod would do nothing for you.
 
Is this build PvM or PvP? And what aura will you be running? Concentration for the Hammers? or Conviction for the FoH? Because in PvM without Conviction (and even with it) FoH is not that great of a skill, and with Blessed Hammer you don't really even need it, only one monster in the entire game is immune to hammers otherwise a backup skill is not neccessary for a Hammerdin. Just some thoughts :smiley:

wailing beasts in act 3. The spawn in kurast bazaar/ the forgotten tomb areas. I'm not sure where else. They look like yetis.
 
For 125 fcr (which is what you'll what), you're pretty much stuck using a hoto like Myth said. It wouldn't hurt to have an 3foh/3conv faceted stick in your stash for messing around, but in most duels a hoto is the way to go. I've seen people put a foh stick on switch, but that requires pre-buff of bo, which is a pain in the *** imo. Personally on my wish list i want to make a 3bh/3conc fort caddy for charging casters and zons.
 
I've made one of those, but I found it wasn't really worth the extra 1 pt on foh with having to switching back and forth. But that's just me.

Yeah, prion's idea is good, but what do u mean sechler? isnt that a good idea, putting cta in +3 conv +3 hs +3 foh stick?

hoto gives +3 all skills so you have effective +3FOH

CTA gives +1 all and the FOH stick gives +3 FOH so you have effective +4 FOH

So when I made a 3foh/3conv cta a while back, I actually used a 4 faceted sacred targe instead of a bo spirt. It was nice for the extra foh dmg, but i often fumbled on what wep I had out. I’m all over the place in duels, charging in front and back while laying hammers, slipping in an foh and telestomping right after the foh hits ‘em, then back to charging around laying hammers, etc. I constantly was finding myself with my foh cta out when I was hammering or vice versa. It just gets really tricky for me adding in that extra step of performing a wep switch before hitting conviction/foh hotkeys in the midst of a heated duel.

What I was talking about earlier was getting my hands on a caduceus (scepter) with blessed hammers and concentration. Then making it into a fortitude wep as fort has 25 fcr on it. With the right fast cast jewelry you can still maintain 125 fcr but run a decent charge wep (for certain situations ofc).

While I’m at it, another idea is to make ur cta in a zerker or scourge. With 270ed from call to arms it turns into a decent charging wep. It’s no greif, but it’s kinda fun chain charging people with a switch wep as a optional 3rd attack.
