Question about funding

Okay I know this doesn't have to do with Necromancers in particular, but I figured I'd post it here since my new character is one.

I used to play D2 about a year or so ago, but all of my friends quit so I slowly faded away from it as well. I had some [what I think are] good characters (600-700 MF Sorc, good Strafezon with WF :P) and had some pretty awesome equips also (don't remember specifically but I know they were at least alright).

Now a year later I'm playing again. I never logged onto my accounts to keep them from being deleted so they got... deleted. I'm a level 59 Necro and my equips SUCK ***, and I cannot figure out for the life of me how I got such good equips on my old account.

So my question to you all is: How do I get those funds at the start? I can't MF [very well] without good MF equips, and I can't get good MF equips if I can't MF! T_T

lots of people start off by collecting/cubing gems until you get LOTs of them. people trade for pgems who like to reroll certain magic items (baal GCs). certain amount of gems will get you some runes, which you can trade for items you are lacking. just be aware that most high runes are duped and may poof on you

Welcome Newcomer to The Darkness. Grab a brew and feel free to raise some corpses.

And don't forget you don't need a lot of MF gear to MF well. As a Necro a few Topazes in an armor work well.

Oh well also another question: How do necros MF well?

I had never made a Necro before (on battle.net, anyway) because they seemed weaker than other classes, but this time around I didn't care and just wanted to have fun with a big mob of skeles. Then I read in a guide that they're good for MF, but... it seems like it takes FOREVER to kill a boss with just my skeles since I can't use CE on anything. Is it a lot faster when you have good equipment?

And if it is, I guess I should make a blizz Sorc or something and farm Meph for a while? :(

Edit: Say, I just thought. You don't need MF for Countess runs, right? Are Necros any good at those?

Edit2: Well I just read the "Lich Guide" or whatever it was called, and noticed this:

"Non-ladder golem?

Clay works fine. Also Immortal King's Mauls make Iron Golems that are completely immune to elements, good for boss killing. Fire Golems look cool enough to spend one point in it."

Can I not get Insight on Non-Ladder? :S

Insight and infinity, pride and many many other runewords are sadly ladder only. However, because of ladder reset, non-ladder will have a good supply of them, just a tad bit expensive.

Doing hell pits when you get up in level some can be easy and very profitable for a new summoner. You don't need that great of gear because the Skllies are your shield. Corpse Explosion can clear through mobs fast.

Lots of Elite armor can drop. Look for Sup or Eth Elite armors. If you can socket it with cude recipe and get 3 or 4 sockets it can trade for quite a lot.

IE Sup Archon sockets with 3 sockets is used to make Enigma and can sell for a lot if high %ED.

Time and patience if you're poor

I'm a past addict who relinquished LOD for a good while, but now I've fallen back into it again. It was a little frustrating for me at first, since I had such wealth in the past and simply let my accounts expire as well. But I still had a good deal of fun starting over, and it's my understanding that MF has been somewhat improved in 1.11. Part of the balancing act, I suppose.

At the beginning, I collected every gold piece, then I began gambling for magic items in town. After a while, you'll have a pretty good build if you just want to play it straight the whole way.

So when ladder resets all the items come over to non-ladder...? o_O

Sup = Superior? How can you tell if it's superior? And what is "Elite" armor? Sorry I don't know many of the terms =|

Some items are named superior, mostly "superior" armors got like 15% ED.
Elite armors are the elite version of normal armors.. for example the elite version of "Quilted Armor" is the "Dusk Shroud".

With the new runewords that have made most of the uniques worthless, getting some should be easy. back in .09 i started by doing the 40 chips for soj and ended up when i quit with 21 accounts of stuff, 500+ sojs and a wallet full of cash. But now that chips are almost useless, i just cube any gem i find into pgems and trade those 30/40 for a hr. Trade any set or unique that you dont wanna keep to noobs for gems.

Sit and watch the trading channels, learn whats junk and whats sought after. The value of things. Alot has changed since .09

don't join *free items* games, and don't beg, it usually wastes a lot of time. play normally and join some baal runs, after seeing the same people, and ask around if anyone has item build ideas for your nec. then, ask someone for some stuff to help you along, about 1/10 of the time there will be a nice guy there willing to give his old nec gear.
