Well... it's been some time since I've updated this project, I blame Mexico. Anyway, I think it's about time as I've hit a fairly important milestone.
At level 73 IFindStuff has defeated Nightmare.
Act 1-4 were run on /p 8, with bosses killed on /p 1 (iirc).
Upon reaching Act 5 things started to fall apart. The first problem was that I arrived in Mexico and had little desire to play, as well as only my Laptop to play on. For some reason I find playing on my Laptop to be really awkward, the keys are too close together or something and I always press the wrong buttons etc.
Second problem was /p 8. All the monsters were tough, and many were ranged, causing me to be annoyed with my merc mostly for not being in the right place at the right time. Also requiring me to use DV more than Amp, which slowed the killing even more.
Third problem was that I hate anything that's above ground in Act 5 (with the slight exception of the Bloody Foothills). This is balanced out by how much I enjoy playing the underground parts of Act 5.
The first problem was solved a couple of ways. I've been in Mexico for over 2 months now, and seen/done a lot of stuff, so the novelty is wearing off. And the laptop part, well I've been playing younger/easier characters on and off to practice, so I've started to get used to the keys.
The second problem was solved in 2 ways, one by lowering the /p setting... duh. At first I tried just /p 7 and still continued to struggle, so finally I swallowed my pride and bumped it down to /p 5. The second solution was the arrival of a shiny new Harliquin Crest Shako on the head of IFindStuff. I just found the Harly last night with my MF sorc and after doing some quick math realized that it would give me 2% more mf then my current 3 Ptopazed helmet (74% instead of 72%). It fit the rules, so on went the shako. The +2 skills really helped push through the end of Act 5. Also, the only way I can figure to squeeze anymore MF out of the head slot involves Ist runes, and I have none, so it's fully optimized I think.
The third problem was solved by me breaking one of my own rules. No re-running areas. I didn't really break it on purpose, but it's broken non the less. I find the slog from the Fridged Highlands wp to the next wp to be unbearable long and tedious. I attempted it about 3 times before I actually had the patience/time to make it all the way, as a result I ended up clearing the same beginning parts of the Fridged Highlands 3 times. It ended up taking something around 2 hours to make it all the way, and on my first few attempts I simply didn't budget enough time for it, I always ended up having to go to class, or sleep, or drink, or something!
The Ancients were fought on /p 1, they were not a challenge, but took longer then NM ancient usually take me. I attempted to find some decent Revives before I fought them but ended up with nothing (they poofed while I was running to the stairs... joy!)
My WSK/Throne run was OK and Gloam free, which made me a happy, happy person. Also, with the players setting on 5, CE was starting to actually have some effect, which sped things up.
Baals first was was run on /p 5, all other waves (including baal himself) were run on /p 3. In hind site I could have done them all on /p 5, but was afraid at the time.
NM Baal wasn't very kind to me, but I suppose it could have been
worse.
Just for fun I ran a Flavie report on my find so far. Most of you would probably guess the most common item to be Isenharts Breast Plate, but in fact the most common item I've found is Cleglaws Tooth (with IBP coming in a very close second)
I am going to give the Hell Den of Evil a go right now and see how we fair. I have a feeling my merc might need a weapon upgrade in the very near future.
My resists in Hell are currently: -40/-32/-35/-40
This is something that I've never seen before in my D2 carrier and consider it absolute suicide in HC. Normally I wouldn't run a character in hell if her resists were in in the single digets, and I'd still be annoyed if I couldn't get them over 60.
I have 5 tests coming up (this week and next), so I expect I'll be studying more then playing for at least this week.
Oh yeah, his mf is currently. 570%, with the merc carrying an additional 167% for a total of 737% Mf if mr moron gets the kill.
Wish me luck!
