Possible To Play D2 In 1024x768 or Higher?

I know it got bumped up to 800x600 and even running it in a window seems to help a bit but its smaller and you cant change the size. Anyone know of a way to run it at a higher rez? I'd like to play though D2/LOD again but I just can't bring myself to play it the way it looks right now. Please refrain from "your a noob" and "its not about the graphics". Just asking a question, google hasn't turned up much but maybe there is some odd little hack out there. Thanks.

Can you get banned for using just that?? It might be worth playing that way. But if it can't be discussed, it can't be helped.

I play in a window myself. The funny thing however, is that when I play on my own windows user-account the screen is much bigger then when I log in on my brothers. This affects gamespeed as well.

Well it might be the/his screen resolution of the monitor, that would make sense. However yes I did notice the lag a bit, seems that it shares a lot more memory with windows then when its full screen. Who knows. How far off in D3? hehe.

Um, ok. May I ask why or is that bannable? I guess its not only used for that? *sigh* Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and just play, hehe.

Yes it's bannable by bnet etc, due to packet sending or whatever, and since it's not built into the game it's a 3rd party program, which is not approved of in these forums and can result in a ban.

Hmm maybe reading the forum rules would help you know why it's not allowed.

I'm guessing that you did read them in 2003 when you joined ...maybe you need a refresher?

Link's in my sig on the left there.

Pretty much all has been said already, but I'd like to add that a higher resolution would also give you more vision and range for certain skills (like Teleport). This would give you an unfair advantage over other players, on top of the other reasons not to use such a hack.

Yes all true. Well I figured it wasnt allowed on Bnet anyway, and that was understandable. I would use it for single player either way becuase Blizzard would be none the wiser, hehe. I guess there isnt anything out there anyway, from what I've seen anyhow. Thanks anyway.

Although...

I'd very much like to see Diablo II in 1600x1200 but with the same area of space shown...

Basically, make the game look prettier. That'd do it a lot of good, IMHO...it would also put my $400 graphics card to use, but that's besides the point. =X

holy crap!

so that'd be about the entire throne level in one screen eh? i can't imagine how small everything would be... i avoid full screen just due to the massive pixelation and the smother running of window'd mode

I guess you're missing the "with the same area of space shown," meaning it will give the same view as 800x600 but with much better graphics. Sounds pretty good to me... (my resolution doesn't go highter than 1024x768 though)

That's pretty much what I get on my LCD when I use aspect scaling. It's 1920x1200 native so it blows D2 up to 1600x1200 with black bars on the sides. It's a tradeoff vs. tiny detail being more visible and some stuff becoming jaggy-looking.

(No, it doesn't let you see more - the LCD just blows up each game pixel to 4 screen pixels.)
