poisonmancer with spirit. block or not?

hi

I;ve made psnmancer before with spirit. had crappy res but had max vita and rather good control  to survive elemental dmges.
my main palce for mass killing of joy was cow level and CS.

now I am tempted to make another one, and since I've used and found death web very likable, I am plannying to use it again. however, i wanted to know how viable a 75% necro will be...with spirit monarch.

I am plaaning 125 FCR that is

2/20 head
eni
3/10 or 2/10 amulet
10FCR ring x 2
arach
trang
death's web
35FCR spirit

hopefully this should do. I could drop d web for hoto or something and go with SS....but I am a lazy person.

do you think this is viable or just forget all about it and just put all to vita/enough for 75% with SS?

pvm will be main, but if i get bored enough i might try pvp. although i doubt i will be any good XD (btw 75%FCR is ok for pvp isn't it?)

75% FCR is good enough IMHO for PvM. I'd swap belt and shield to another 2 trang pieces for another -25% poison.

no. 125% only.

Surely if the lindwurm can pvp with its horrible fcr, then 75 will do? It's not like u have to spam psn nova to kill... also u gotta sacrifice dweb/having maxblock/resists to get 125

His trang guide also notes that it is heavily recommended that you get HIGH frw to make up for the lack of teleport.

i thought nova dmg wouldn't be stacking much so 75 FCR would be enough. ofc, boners should go for 125 but i dunno...(in pvm nothing mattered really)

I am not planning to use trangset even tho it has excellent coolness that comes with it.
I guess I could go for spirit/homu set up..but then wouldn't that mess up my DR and SS is better?
or is SS overrated and better to opt 75FCR with homu? (15 amu, 10 rings, belt, glove, 31 dr from CoA)

I've only played a welfare psn nec, but 125 fcr is a must imo, once you come accross a fast namelocker you will appreciate being able to tele away faster. 125 is not needed for dmg, but mobility is crucial.

Max block with spirit is out of the question or else you'd lose too many stats, would probably take 300+ dex for max block with spirit.

43 dr (ber'd storm) coupled with bone armor works wonders against melee. Use homunculus only when you don't need dr, spirit is most likely a better all-round shield though since it's hard to hit good fhr breakpoints with a psn nec.

using anything except a trang's shield on a poisoner is plain retarded.

The -25% not only boosts damage via lowering resists, but MORE IMPORTANTLY increases damage via increasing poison length duration.

IE: Trang's shield is more powerful than a perfect Bramble, and you can add a 5/5 facet to make it even more insane.

-25% only happens on 3 sets..no?
which means I got to sacrifiece FCR, FHR, tele or something..
unless I have it wrong.

guess DR option with SS seems better. I know it is hard for melee to kill me with that on :)
fhr would be a pain tho..arg!

hopefully this should do. I could drop d web for hoto or something and go with SS....but I am a lazy person.

Well, don't do that. You will lose the massive -poison rez and when duelling it's extremely important to get the opponets resists down. I do fine with death's web(i have only 40 FCR) It's bad but i do fine in PvP.

Rather than focusing on Maximum Chance to Block, I would instead set your gaze on increasing your Faster Hit Recovery rate. I say this because achieving maximum block percentage with a Spirit Monarch is nigh impossible, and much too costly.

i am now thinking of ignoring block altogether.
only cahrs I will need block can be killed..I would definitely need dr tho, and with spirit i don't know about that department..
FHR is must, I agree

its hard to get that flexibility out of pvm char :/

so...web as a must..
FCR: 35 spirit, 20 from belt, 20 from glove = 75
need 50 more...so 2/20/2 or 3/20/2 than 10 FCR from amu and rings..?
man that is a lot of equips, and up to 24% DR at max...

can someone give me input on hoto vs dweb?
I don't know if that -res is good or not (awesome in pvm I have to say..but how good in pvp?)

Perhaps comparing via Pros and Cons might help?

Death's Web Unearthed Wand

Pros:
  • -40 - 50% to Enemy Poison Resistance
    • Even with the lowest (40%), this enables you to drastically cut an opponents Poison Resistance. Coupled with Lower Resist, this will make almost any player incredibly vulnerable to your Poison Nova.
  • +2 to All Skills
    • Note that this mod grants +2 to ALL skills, meaning it will boost any other skills or any attributes tied to various skills that may be boosted by this mod. This doesn't make a enormous change in how powerful your Lower Resist or Fire Golem may or may not be, but it does provide a small bonus - most notable of which is the curse radius of Lower Resist.
  • +1 - 2 to Poison and Bone Skills
    • Coupled with the +2 to All Skills mod above, this effectively ups your Poison and Bone Skill tree by 4, which can make a difference of quite a bit of damage when dealing with Poison Nova.
  • Can be given one socket
    • This can cover any needs that may not have been met already by your other equipment. As you likely already know, there are jewels that grant a bonus to Faster _________ rates, along with runes and other jewels that either increase your damage output or strengthen your resistances to elemental damage.
Cons:
  • Absolutely no Faster Cast rate, Faster Hit Recovery rate, Run / Walk.
  • No bonuses given to resistances
  • No mods granting extra Life, Mana, or any other stats
Heart of the Oak Runeword
Pros:
  • +3 To All Skills
    • This increases everything moderately, which allows you to have stronger curses, golems, and Poison Novae. A wider Lower Resist radius and much heavier tank of a golem are rather nice indeed.
  • +40% Faster Cast Rate
    • +40 is a rather large amount in of itself, and it will likely cause your character reach the next breakpoint needed in order to cast both Poison Nova and Teleport effectively.
  • Increase Maximum Mana 15%
    • While not needed in any particular manner, this is a very large boost to your Mana pool, which will allow you to focus less on your Mana count and more on the true action taking place.
  • All Resistances +30-40 (varies)
    • Note that this is boosting all of your resistances, which makes this mod particularily lovely when facing Sorceresses of any kind. Hell, there is not a single instance in which this mod would not be appreciated.
  • Level 4 Oak Sage (25 Charges)
    • Level 4 may not seem like it will account for much, but consider this: any and all health is appreciated, especially when both you and your golem are benefactors of such a thing. Additionally, even though the skill is only at level 4, it does raise both your Maximum Life and your golem's by a full 45%. The wonderful thing about this is that the more Life already in your Life pool, the more it will be boosted when Oak Sage is cast.
So, basically it comes down to this: what do you need more? Damage output or mobility and survivability? If the former, use Death's Web. In the case of the latter, use Heart of the Oak.
