Player's Choice Mafia Sign-Ups

Re: Player's Choice Mafia Sign-Ups

After re-reading WIFOA game, I'd like to change my "any" to that one, choas is fun, organised choas more so.

Re: Player's Choice Mafia Sign-Ups

Someone is running it - that's kinda organised, rather than everyone running around going "I R Vig!. Pew pew pew!!"

Re: Player's Choice Mafia Sign-Ups

Are you really typing out the rules as a whole, or are you just saying you are typing the rules out as a whole? WIFOA HAS BEGUN. OR HAS IT?

Re: Player's Choice Mafia Sign-Ups

Okay, so a generalized flow of how the WIFOA setup will go.

Step 1) All players are assigned to town / mafia. For the purposes of this game, there will be no neutral parties. PMs are sent to everyone telling them what faction they belong to. However, mafia members are not yet made aware of who their partners are.

Step 2) Bidding process begins. All players privately choose two numbers between 1 and 20 and PM/mail them to me. The first number determines how soon you choose your role, the second is the tiebreaker. The lower your number chosen the sooner you choose your role, but single picks will always beat out double picks. This sound confusing, so I'm going to give an example of how it works. Let's take five people, and have them choose their numbers:

Player A) 2 / 10
Player B) 2 / 6
Player C) 4 / 1
Player D) 19 / 8
Player E) 10 / 1

With those results, the order of choosing roles falls as such:

Player C (since he has the lowest number that isn't duplicated)
Player E
Player D (just moving down the list)
Player B (Now into doubles, tie breaker number is the lowest)
Player A

Basically, to summarize: Pick the lowest number you can that you think nobody else will choose. Of course, there's also advantages to choosing later, as perhaps maybe mafia won't target you if they think you're a vanilla...

Step 3) [STRIKE]Profit![/STRIKE] Once all numbers are submitted, the list is published so everyone can see who is picking when. All the roles available are shown, and players will choose a role from the list when their turn comes up. These choices are made in secrecy. If you choose a role that has been already chosen previously, then you are assigned a vanilla role. If a role is not chosen by anyone, then it is not used in the game.

Step 4) Mafia are given the names of their team members, and the game then proceeds as normal.

Re: Player's Choice Mafia Sign-Ups

What if everyone chooses 1 and 2? Or at least 2 players choose 1 and 2.

If two people have chosen both the same primary and tiebreaker numbers, then it'll come down to time of submission. (At least, I think that was your question).

Is also worth noting also that the number choices can be the same. For instance, if you really want, you can choose 1 and 1. Maybe you'll be the only person who did and be guaranteed the first choice. Maybe four other people have as well and you'll be pretty much dead last in choosing.

So what happens if two people pick the same number - for example two people pick 1/1 to try to insure they go first?

In that case, all people who picked a number that was not duplicated (even 20!) will choose before them. Then when doubles come around, they'd be the first two to choose. Since the tiebreakers are the same, I'd let the person who submitted first choose earlier. If a third person had chosen 1 / X, then all three of them would go after all doubles have chosen.

Lower numbers are best. Single picks come before doubles. Doubles come before triples. Etc.

Sounds deliciously nefarious.

Tally me up for WIFOA. I don't have sufficient permissions to confirm I voted.

Some questions:
Will the list of roles be published before before we submit bids?
Will there be more roles in the list than players?

Yes, the list of roles will be shown before bidding. The will likely be more roles than players, but not all roles will be popular.
