PITS - players 8 a must?

Hi I am running PITS (hell) with my trapsin and basically the safest/fastest I can do is with "players 2". Basically, Lighting inmunes are a bane for my build and so it is the merc who must step in and deal with those. I ahve made 10 runs so far and have ZERO unique/set drops :(. My trapsin has 300MF. So I guess I really ned something like "players 8" which is no feasible with this, so perhaps I should do a meteorb or something. Any comments appreciated.

I run the pits on players 1. It's quicker and I'm not after experience. Just keep at it stuff will drop.

I think you've made a boo-boo, you're in the trade forum, if you ask a mod nicely they might move it for you. To answer your question, if you're only MFing it's better to run on /p1, if you want the the xp, and you can run them almost as fast and safely, run them at a level you feel most comfortable with. You will need to run 100's, if not 1000's, of runs before you find something useful.

Short answer:
The drops on p1 and p2 are same. (same for p3=p4, p5=p6, p7=p8) In general if you run for experience, high player setting. If you run for items, run on p1.

The reason why people say that you should run on p1 for items is that most of the sets and uniques will come from bosses, and they have a fixed drop (1 item and 2 or 4 potions) regardless of the players setting. Increasing the players setting will only improve the number of drops from normal monsters. Might slightly be useful if you're looking for white socketables, as bosses can't drop white items other than gems/runes.

If you are going for high TC Sets/Uniques PITs is not the most efficient lvl85 area to run (and in any case /p1 is the best choice). With AT you can look at something like 6 boss packs in under a minute and a good roll on WSK can net you 3-4 bosspacks on your way to Baal (total time under 4 minutes). In both cases, nr 1 advice I can give is "know your map" (i.e. where on the map spawn bosspacks).

If you are going for XP/socketables/chance at HRs etc /p7 pits is a nice option, mainly because the monsters are weak. AT is a nice option as well on /p7 for a good decked blizzie.

Personally, I run AT on /p1 doing only bosspacks with my blizzballer and Pits on /p7 with my hammerdin (and more rarely on /p3-/p5 with my WF strafer). All chars at ~300MF (WarTravs, ptopazed Skullder's, ptopazed Shako, Gheeds).

This is not exactlly true beacuse in pit is same number of bosspack so in tunnels and WSK (6-8) +in pits is 2nd level with 2-3 bosspacks on very small space so pit can be more efficient that tunnels. You can run even pit even tunnels during one minute. Poison necro with enigma (or with nice map with nice FRW too) can do it without huge problems beacuse one poison nova kill bosspack with good gear. Unique difference is that AT runner blizzsorc could have 550+ MF and poison necro only about 400 but it is not many difference. Next year I want to switch on pitruns beacuse after 8k tunnels done I wants some change.

@bassano: I really doubt you can do the equivalent of 6 bosspacks a minute (consistently) in Pits with any char Enigma (this is the SPF anyway) or no Enigma. Sure AT is boring as Hell (and I have significanty less runs than yourself), but as I hinted you can WSK/Baal, Pits or whatever you wish for variety.

I know that this is SPF I never played on BN seriously and I have no enigma but few runners here have it. And without enigma you can do it about 80s it is not so different how 60s in tunnels. And pit is far from waypoint this is a small disadvantage but killing speed in pit and in AT is quite same. I sometime change area 85 for trying different MF options but so far I made quite all drops in tunnels.

Slightly OT, but if you want XP and items, Pindle can be run with a trapper. I levelled my PvP Hybrid to 90 on Pindle only.

- HF merc + Reaper's Toll
- Use BoS
- Resists don't need to be maxxed.
- I had about 7.5K trap damage, pure trapper can get about 8-10K
- 2x Claws, Shako, Skullder's, Chance Guards, Goldwrap, Gheeds & Rare belt for about 300MF
- I can do /P8 runs in about 45s if he is not LI

- Run to middle of the room, quite a long way in
- Mind blast about 4 times
- Lay 5x LS
- Because most of the pack should be converted, Pindle often gets hit by the full whack of the LS.

I'm curious to know how you achieve 7.5K LS damage with your setup. I'm at +11 to LS atm and I'm only at 5K as a pure trapper (level 87).

I have a lot of slots to improve but it will most likely take more than an increase of 5-6 skills level to reach 7.5K or 10K?!

You need lvl 44 LS, fully synergized, to achive 10K. I have that setup on my trapper, but it's the most offensive setup, without max resists or damage reduction.

Ic ic, thats quite a lot of skiller and +skills :S
My resists are not topped (mostly in the low/mid range except lightning at 60ish), and I have 0 DR as it is so I see no sacrifice there :/

I guess I have a long way to go.

I ran Pindle with:
+8 LS on claws
+2 Shako
+1 Skullders
+2 Mara's
+8 Skillers
= Lvl 41 LS

Fully synergised = 8-9331 damage if my calculations are correct

- About 300% MF
- 2x4 slot free
- Cube/tomes in the stash
- Resists are not maxxed, but IIRC they are all positive.

Shop for +3 trap claws at Hell Anya, the rest of the equipment can be found at Hell Meph. If you haven't got that equipment yet, Hell Meph should be your no. 1 target.
