Personal Rules

1. Collect all waypoints and do all quests before moving to the next act.

2. No rushing(expect for the Horadric Cube, those damn chips ), full clears if possible!

3. No cheating/haxing!

4. From now on, no twinking characters unless they can't do without. Moving stuff between chars will only be allowed after they have passed the game on Hell (a little prize to go for).

PS. Why not collect Halls of Pain wp on NM/Hell? Has that something to do with the Pindleruns? How can you even Pindlerun, leave the quest undone? I always do it and the red portal disappeared, not in 1.10?

If you leave the Halls of Pain WP 'unmarked' the red portal will stay up. It's a very quick jaunt to run Pin that way.
You can still complete the Nihlithak quest without tripping that WP.

1. My chars must play entirely untwinked.
2. Must complete all quests, and get all waypoints except Halls of the Dead in Nightmare and Hell and Halls of Pain in Hell.
3. No parking monsters. I don't do full clears except in Act 1 Normal, but if I see a monster, I like to kill it.
4. If I do a Meph run and find something good, I have to do another run in case my luck continues. If I do a Meph run and find nothing good, I have to do another run because I don't want to finish on a low. If I get to the stage of wanting to throw my computer out the window, i can ignore this rule. :)

None of my characters face Hell Baal without a full class-specific set. Therefore, I have only three characters who have reached Matriarch/Patriarch status, with a fourth on the way. That's really the only rule that I have for my game. I also do full clears most of the time, and I like to get all waypoints and complete all quests, no matter how far out of the way or how useless they may be.

Personal rules:

1) All quests to be completed in order before finishing a difficulty level.
2) No bugs or other exploits to be used--e.g. I won't use the Marrowwalk synergy with Bone skills.
3) I never play ANY sort of multiplayer--if my characters can't finish the game solo, they won't finish the game!

I get all of the way points, except Great Marsh, unless I have to, and Halls of the Dead NM and Hell, Hall of Pain of Hell. Sometimes I rush through Arreat Plateau and Frigid Highlands, but I go back later and get the WP.

I always kill Nihlathak, always...(I think they've made him easier, his corpse explosion doesn't always one hit kill me these days)

I always end the game at level 86.

My only rule is no cheats/hacks.

nemar, Now that you mention it, I think a little backgroud BeeGees may help me through Hell. :jig: :jig:

ok, i thought of a few others I use:
1) I do eventually get all waypoints, although the obly time I miss them is if playing MP. I will always go back for ones I missed.
2) I do all quests. (I've never reached Hell Nihlithak so I haven't had a chance to skip him yet)
3)No paladin character will ever use poison damage. it just doesn't seem holy or noble

My 1.10 list...

hardcore
solo
untwinked (muling off ok for collecting purposes)
full clears
no parked monsters
no TP in belt, no ESC to avoid death
all quests and waypoints completed
quest rewards are optional (imbue, socket, personalize)
experience & MF runs only after reaching Guardian

when in tournaments, those rules apply

edit: oh, and of course no mods or hacks/cheats :D

1) No hacks, cheats, etc. This includes bug exploitation (like the Marrowalk bug) and bugs later made into "features" (hammerdins).
2) No rushes.
3) No ugly or inappropriate gear on my character, no matter how juicy the mods. This means no Masks on anybody, no Scythes on anybody but necros, no Bone Helms or Bone Shields on pallies, etc. I have to look at my character to play it, and if they look ridiculous, that factor alone makes them less fun. :)

Can you please tell me a hammerdin is a Bug / Feature whatever your talking about. I have never herad about hammerdin being a bug plz tell me more

My rules:

1). No cheats or hacks
2). Muling allowed, but only SC->SC; HC->HC
3). No pulling items off my dead characters, even the HC ones with sweet items
4). Twinking is ok, but I've implemented a system for my ladder characters: if they are going to twink from the Ladder stash, they must pay 10,000 gold to the bank before leaving Act I; 100,000 gold before leaving normal; and future payments TBD. That way I will build up a gold stash for gambling.
5). Whatever it takes to survive. I've put masks on sorcs and bone helms on paladins. (which I thought looked rather cool, but I seem to be in the minority). I'll also skip areas and park monsters if I have to--although I prefer not too-- but tend to do all quests (Haven't reached Hell Nihli yet though)
6). Solo play
7). No hot muling
8). Blame Durf.

i complete all quests, no matter what. even nithalek in hell. if i play MP and miss some quests, i go back later in SP and do them. thats about the only thign i od every time.

Blessed Hammer was never intended to work with Concentration (or any other aura) and in the early stages of D2, it didn't, but a bug in v1.03 or so changed that. Blizz admitted it was a bug but left it in because it turned out to be the uber build that paladins lacked but the other classes all had. Now that pallies have many more options for viable builds (just about any flavor of zealot you can name, avengers being more than just variants, chargers capable of insane damage, rangers now extremely viable, etc.), I personally feel it's time to finally correct the bug.

I don't hack, or cheat (depending on your definition with regards to twinking), and the only (technically) 3rd party program i use is atma. I do twink some, but only trade amongst my characters, and only trade with others in tournaments if allowed.

I tend to get all waypoints except the great marsh and the halls of pain, although I'll sometimes get that WP but not kill nilithak, it's just not worth it to me.

I'm stubborn, so I'll almost always go back and retrieve bodies, unless there is a massive pack that I doubt I'll be able to whittle down (rarely happens, and usually involves multiple boss packs converging on the body).

I may draw up different rules if i ever seriously play HC.

my personal rule is: My characters can only die once

But it's ok for me to twink, and for me to mule the items after they die.

Before ATMA, this meant I played softcore. when a character died, I would load them into a multiplayer game, mule off their stuff, do a couple of last-minute Imbues or Sockets, and then delete the character.

With ATMA, I now just make HC characters, and use ATMA to get my items back when they die. (note: now I have to remember to imbue/socket before death, or I loose em)

Hardcore players may not consider this legit, but think of me as a softcore player with really wierd ironman rules, if need be. I don't trade items anyways, all my items are self found.

Eeep! Tell me this is fixed? I don't want to exploit a bug, but IIRC, marrowwalk is the boots with +skeletons or +skele mastery, and my skelemancer was hoping to find and use them someday, in his pursuit of level 100 skeletons.... (or whatever the cap is)

Thanks, couldn't do it without you guys.
That piece of information is going to come in handy!

1. No cheating whatsoever
2. Full cleared areas on Normal (includes all areas, such as those useless cellars in act 5 and those red portals) and just full clears of necessary areas in NM and HELL.
3. Never switch gear on chars, i.e my sorc uses a Harlequin, then I cant trade it over to another char when I play with that one unless i plan on never using the Harlequin on the sorc again.

The bug only relates to the level 33 charges of Bone Prison on the boots. If you don't have any points of your own put into the Bone Prison skill, the game for some reason treats it as if you have a level 33 Bone Prison for the purposes of calculating synergies. This is only really going to help a Bonemancer because Bone Prison doesn't synergise any summoning skills, so you can use Marrowwalk with a skelliemancer without any worry at all.
