Blizzard website says that patch might be out on April. Only few months to wait

Hey whoa whoa whoa!? Slow down there Usain Bolt. Why soooooo soon? Where's the fire? I mean they just might add an update to diablo 3 by that time. Lets slow it down a bit huh? lets give them 3010 just to think of a time when to apply the patch. That way nothing is rushed up there at blizzard. We don't want to wait too long, but just long enough so they don't feel under any pressure. :thumbup:

A thousand years is a long time, I doubt Blizzard would even exist anymore by the end of the next couple centuries.

anyway back on topic, I really do hope the things included currently in 1.13 beta are just the tip of the iceberg or they are planning on releasing the patch asap! I'm kinda looking forward to a new ladder season, despite I have been strictly a NL player. Yeah have all the gear is fun but so is killing countless no geared players. :devil:

Yes; very--very sadly it has been.
An entire year to release a patch that honestly could take a mid-level programmer a month to put out (minus of course the over-extended beta testing) leaves a very poor mark on your company/development team.
It's true Blizz North is gone, but still a YEAR for a patch is ridiculous.
Some (such as Gorny) are amazed that the 10 year old game is still receiving any support at all -- and we're even so lucky as to getting a patch at all. Unfortunately not all Diablo players view the patch is such a light, and are very frustrated at the time the patch has been developed.
Before I beat a dead horse any longer on the subject, I'm just going to end this post saying I just want the ladder reset :bored:

Excuse my nub cake ignorance but I assume that when patch 1.13 comes into play (supposedly around April this year) it means a re-set of all realms and that means that you lose everything and everyone starts from scratch?

All I can kind of gather from that is that reset and the implimentation of a new patch are not the same thing. Would someone be willing to explain in detail the differences between patch implimentation and a reset and the rough date that a reset might take place this year?

When the patch goes live, Blizzard, namely Baishok, said (I'm not going to bother hunt for the quote b/c its buried under months of inane updates) the ladder reset will come with the patch. They also advertised that the patch was going to as big as 1.10, in the amount of content being added, misleading players to also believe it would fix a slew of bugs and errors that have haunted D2 players for years. Around summer of last year, Warcraft III experienced a major bug and needed a vast amount of attention to fix ( I forget the details but it took months and precedence over DII 1.13) delaying the patch a significant amount. As time went on, a further update was sent out that an expanded stash (12x8, a roughly 250% increase in the current stash size) was being implied and no new content. Shortly after they abandoned the increased stash. Players realized the patch was not all what it was ought to be and was a major letdown. Yadda yadda yadda, the patch is still in beta, and it is a major letdown, 90% of players are no longer interested or just want the ladder reset that is to be applied during said update.
So to answer your question: ignore the patch, it does nothing significant ,and a ladder reset is when they move everyone from ladder into non-ladder and everyone must create a new character from scratch in order to continue playing ladder with ladder-only items and recipes. They used to do this on almost an annual cycle but haven't for some time now. That is why the ladder reset is more anticipated than the all mighty 1.13 that never was.
