OT: What exactly is chicken hack?

Sorry, this is a softcore newbie speaking here...I really have no idea what this hack does. I've never knowingly come across it in SC...

A few choices:

1) It boots you from the game when someone hostiles.
2) It boots you from the game when someone hostiles when you're not in town.
3) It boots you from the game when a certain amout of life is left.

So basically it's a hack 'that lets you play hardcore softcore', can't really see the fun of it :P

Seen a horde of chicken users die because of counting too much on their stupid hack; late quit, losing loot and so on.

*cackles*

It is population control as well in a way. Chicken kills the REALLY dim bulbs faster than the monsters would. People rely on chicken to boot them out when they get to 1/2 life (or whatever it gets set at I think) so they keep fighting and not pulling back when taking damage. Now, I dunno about anyone else but when a frenzytaur gets in a lucky hit I can drop more than 1/2 in the blink of an eye (zon at about 1k life). Takes a few seconds to disconnect .... Smack! *life drops a third but chicken keeps fighting unconcerned* SMACK!!!!
CHICKEN-USER was slain by Champion Death Lord
CHICKEN-USER has left our world

Keekekekekeee no loot for you! :jig:

Basically it is a crutch. People will say it is just to fight back against the TPPK's and the hackers but personally I think they are just lazy.

No maphack is a crutch. Chicken is defrauding yourself of the reality of playing hardcore. They are both game killers imho.

Those hacks also completely ruined dueling and PKKing in a way I would say whoever duels has a lot of free time to MF and level dead characters, must be bored to hell, is a cheater or deserves losing his stuff for his/her stupidity.

Let's not mince words here. Chicken is the single greatest abomination to come to Diablo2 ever.

Having said that, I'll will agree with the others, that it also provides the single greatest joy in the game:

Chickenuser enters game.
Chicken user joins party, enters cow portal.
Chicken user exits game 6 times in 2 minutes, asks for party each time.
nebby leads cow pack, preferably fanat enchanted, to red portal.
Chicken user is slain by Hell Bovine.
Chicken user exits.

:jig:

Still makes me smile.

I don't understand. Would you care to elaborate?

RandomLegitPker joins game.
RandomLegitPker declares hostility.
(A split second later...)
Player1 leaves game.
Player2 leaves game.
Player3 leaves game.
Player4 leaves game.
Player5 leaves game.
Player6 leaves game.
(^ Still in that split second...)
Player7 says, "lol"
Player7 leaves game.

Pking sucks now.

Lucky

Ah, thanks for the explanation. Always thought it had something to do with the chickens in the Rogue Encampment(don't ask me how).

Well, the worst is that now, against ppl using total chicken (being booted out on ANY hostile, not close encounters) the only method to kill them is using tppk hacks, what is very sad :( Regular decent PKer has 0 chance to kill "total" chicken-user, while tppk hacker kills because trigering hostility takes place in town...

It looks to me like you said duelers all hack and have no lives. If this isn't the message, I don't think it's obvious.
That's about PKs. Duelers are fine. However, altough there must exist one or other, I have never seen any PK that doesn't cheat at all in 3 years of Diablo II classic gameplay. Never.

Dueling cheaters will not reward you in the long run: you are losing all your items soon enough. About them? Well, there is always duping and ebay.

SURPRISE.

Stereotypes are great. Although I admit, you did say "there must exist one," it doesn't really add any credibility to the rest of your statement. The only Season 2 Ladder action I've gotten was tKT-Crusader, a lvl 13 Charger who got about 10 ears in 2 days, the only time I've PKed, and the only time I've played in the past 2 months. All ears were 20+. All in Act 3, most were in Flayer, 2 were in Travincal. Then my dad uninstalled the game, AGAIN.

I didn't have any cheats. Well, I did use potions. That felt a little weird, coming from SC dueling. But anyway, I was in Classic, I was a PKer, and I didn't cheat.

Maybe we should meet up some time. Then you can say you've met 1 legit PK in your 3 years of playing. Although, we have been in the same game before. But I think that doesn't count; I was sporting a TEB- guest tag, and I had never PKed before. But yeah, there are some out there.

Did you ever think of setting up an alternate bootup to windows? (there are some softwares available for W2K to allow invisible alternate boot-ups with hotkeys). Then your dad wouldn't be able to see it...

And if he's that against it, why hasn't he taken the disks away? Multiple copies?

An alternative set-up would be nice, but its nice not being addicted. I might have to try that sometime though.

He could take the CDs away, but I guess he trusts that I won't install it again without his permission. I'm in 11th HS right now, a big year for me college-wise, so I'm not sure if sneaking around and playing a lot is the best idea for me.

Good man. I wish I were that mature, and I'm a junior faculty at a research institute...hmmmm, maybe I shouldn't re-install the game after all...
