OT: SPF mafia round 7 - Return to Salem

Re: OT: SPF mafia round 7 - Return to Salem

Not sure if my not acting was a good thing or a bad thing...

Re: OT: SPF mafia round 7 - Return to Salem

Thanks to muzzz for hosting this round. Also to the town for managing to win in such a timely fashion.

Also to Thyiad for

a) Being townie
b) Not needing to prove anyone wrong.

Re: OT: SPF mafia round 7 - Return to Salem

This was hard from the beginning:
First Aman was on my team
Then Azador didn't post and I got stuck with Sitro who I was sure was going to get NK'd quickly as well.

Night one we went after Zhao
Night 2 I didn't go after anyone (sint's sublte doctor claim and then stay cautious thing had me convinced he was mafia because no one targeted him)
Same with Night 3
Night 4 I killed Sint (If you ask both Sitro and Aman, they will confirm that we agreed to hold off killing Sint for as long as possible. But with Sint always hinting at my guilt and his apparant innocence due to role-claim, he forced my hand)
Night 5 I killed no one and by this point was not only openly revealing all of my activities, but also staunchly against Sint being an Agent despite my having been the one to turn him over)
Night 6 I went after Goltar because he was the obvious choice. I thought Ray might block me, but I decided to risk it. If he didn't, we would have killed someone. If he did, and I didn't kill anyone anyway, he would have suspected me. The problem was that Merlin spotted me. At that point I really had no defense or the time to defend myself.

Good Game all. The random drinking however gives the town too much power. The reason that so many were spotted early. The only reason I survived as long as I did was because I didn't kill anyone for half the nights.

Re: OT: SPF mafia round 7 - Return to Salem

@Jason - Yes, I still think you are a good player. We BOTH went after Jaedhann, not just you. Besides, you just believed someone else who was suspicious was guilty at the end. And you quickly poked through my rather pathetic 'drinking townie' claim. What I found irritating was the vote swapping by the rest. Make up your minds!

@Bob - Hard to say whether it was a good tactic or not. I mean, the town won it after all. But then again, if you make no use of your role, its kind of useless...

@all - Thanks for the compliments, but a lot of it was, I'm sure, blind luck. For some reason, come day 2 both liquid evil and Sint turned the heat off on me :phew:
I didn't have to come clean with my role for a long time, and trying to snoop out two highly potential NK victims was certainly not a clever tactic on my part (I snooped on Liq and on Sint on consecutive nights). I kept worrying I would be spotted, but I did not feel that warranted me staying home (I considered it a couple of nights though.)
I guess I owe lukin a big thank you for NK'ing the one townie who spotted me during the night I spotted lukin out and about, and then Ray blocked him as well. When he became all depressed about doomsday coming up for the town, I saw my chance clear to vote for him, and I thought we had it sealed when Ray said he had blocked lukin that night. But since the votes were once again withdrawn, I said I saw lukin out and about while subtly hinting at a drinking role. Trust Jason to poke through that little defense.

If naz would have been lynched, and turn out to be a townie, I would have spied on Jason  Just so that, if I could have made it through the night (I thought Bob was setting a trap for the NK'er by claiming he already tried to save me), I could have told all that Jason could be trusted, and probably seal the deal for the bad guy :P

It was fun though :P

Re: OT: SPF mafia round 7 - Return to Salem

Again an early outing.

It was interesting to see how fast my partners were also taken out. I knew they planned to convert Goltar, which seemed quite a good plan.

Nac thought he would manage to save me, but I was sure he wouldn't, and was not happy with him trying since that would make him the next victim of the mob.

Nope, you had been saved when Goltar took out Ray. You were in all likelyhood a dead man. I had planned to save myself if we had gone into night again, just in case Goltar decided to go after me instead of you.

Re: OT: SPF mafia round 7 - Return to Salem

Thanks tons Muzzz. (First for hosting and secondly, for giving me lister's name...omg I had prayed for that name) Was a very fun game. The townies got a little more into the action with their abilities, which I felt was good. And the roles weren't quite as powered so people couldn't just blindly follow the guy that claimed cop. Definitely a game more about rereading and looking at the vote histories. Hats off to Merlin for picking up the slack at the end. And looking at some of w_m's suspect lists, she always seems to be a darn keen player.

Oh, and had I lived through that night, I would have bet it all again, my life if I'm wrong, to try and lynch lukin (and I have faith that I could have done it). His post #360 had me cursing myself that I hadn't listed him on my top 5. It positively dripped of mafia play style. (But my mafia radar is off sometimes, and I would have no doubt thrown my sway behind lynching Naz instead of goltar the final day. He went from so active to so quiet and had me wondering for most of the game after my death. And I was also sure that they would have used the vendetta option to play it safer.)

Job well done everyone!

Re: OT: SPF mafia round 7 - Return to Salem

Well done everyone, and thanks for letting me play. Muzzz, thanks for hosting a great game. I have been out of town the last few days, and I think I am going to sit the next game coming up as I am traveling for spring break and then turning towards finals shortly after that (law school).
