Optimal Dexterity?

Optimal Dexterity?

Hi guys, I'm making a CS javazon and I need advice on how much points I need to put in Dexterity.

Goal: lvl 92
Skills: 20 in Charged Strike and each of its synergies
Items: Tstrokes
CoH
-20/20 shield
Griffon
Mara
eth Treks
Arachnid
x2 BK's
Dracul's Grasp
x9 java GCs
x10 resist/life SCs
torch
anni

I need to know how much points I should put into Dexterity, given that it's a source for AR and Defence.
Things to keep in mind:
1) This is a pure PvM build but I'm going to solo the game and do Ubers, so Maximum block is desirable.
2) AR is not very important, because I value sheer damage over the chance to hit. Still, I want some balance (my previous char had 150 Dex without gear and couldn't land a single hit on Uber Lilith).
3) This is my end-game build, all the items are final.

If you could tell your opinion on the Dexterity issue, I will be very grateful. All opinions are welcome.

P.S. This is a repost really, because I'm a good boy and want to get everything right:smiley:

Dexterity is an awful source of AR and defense. There are only three reasons to ever pump dex:

1. To meet gear requirements.
2. To attain max block.
3. To boost physical damage (really only applies to Bowazons except for a few other build variants... Javazon not really being one of them).

The only one that applies to you is #2, and the block formula is readily available in the Facts and Formulae Archive as well as just about every decently written build guide in these forums.

You'll also need to look up the base chance to block for your particular shield at the The Arreat Summit's Items Page to plug into the block formula.

As for the AR issue: if you're using CS/LF you don't need any AR, whereas if you're using Jab then you'll need to tweek your setup quite a bit to get as much AR and Crushing Blow as possible. I don't care how much dex you have, you'll never kill the Ubers with that setup using Jab.

Great, thanks for the response. I have 52% chance to block, is that enough?

My only meatshield is an Inifinity merc. Also mind that I have no D/A/E/, no valk and no decoy.

Have you been having success against the ubers?

What are you looking to do in pvm if you have all 40 slots filled with charms?

in pvm 52% is more than enough if you have enough vit to hit around 1.5-2k life after bo.

You "have" as in you can see it in your character screen right now? If so, she's your Zon. You play her more than we do. You tell us if it's enough or not from personal experience.

If you just calculated it using the formula, it's still just a matter of personal preference. I like having max block (75%) on all my chars that can reasonably attain it. Others stick a 'Spirit' shield on their Javazon, leave dex as low as possible to equip their sticks, and do just fine. But I know that if I didn't have any D/A/E I'd at least want a pretty decent chance to block.

hmm i thought D/A/E and valkarie is a must for any amazon because you would take a lot a lot less damage and coupled with max block would make you very hard to hit which is very useful both in PvM and PvP. plus mercenaries have a penalty against act bosses and players which makes them very vulnerable

Ditch one of those BK rings and use a Ravenfrost. A frozen amazon = a dead amazon.

Yep I'm a fan of D/A/E myself (1 point wonders ofc), however many players choose not to put points into them because they do not like to be 'dodge' locked (when repeatedly attacked, Amazon keeps doing animation and player is unable to run or attack until she's dead, which can be annoying at melee, PvP, etc). There's also a bug associated to Fend where the Amazon does her attack animation but will miss all attacks if any of the dodging skills activate during a Fend cycle.

I myself made a Fend Spearazon and she had no D/A/E. It worked ok, but obviously she was much more fragile than most Javazons.
