offline/hardcore char what is the best way to go?

i use to play a lot of d2, then i got into EQ and stopped d2 i just hooked up my computer at home again (got out of the army a few months ago and it was still in a box) well i have a poorly made barb thats in act 3 on hell difficautly. well my patch right now is 1.09 on my computer and i won't be getting the net for a few more months so i wanted to make a uber offline hc char just to have some fun for awhile. anyone know what is the best for offline?

(like i said it has been awhile sence i have played and when i search the forums i mostly read about online)

im downloading the 1.11 patch now am im going to take it home after work and install it on my comp. also is there a cheat for the 1.11 patch so in single player mode you are fighting the mobs like 8 players are in the game?

also what would be the most uber class online and what build im trying too think a head a bit to.

basically the best all around build someone that can solo hell pretty easy. (i hear most about these hammerdans, summonmancers and zealots )

im really just looking for the most uber char to build that will also be awsome online because i will be getting the net at home in about 45 days and i will start one in b.net but i want to get some pratice up with the car first.

Welcom to the Forum!

Tell as a bit more about you though?

You won't need a cheat to get 8 players in your game. It is a valid in game command. Just type /players8 in game. It shows up as a chat and you can also see it in the message log if you are unsure if you got it correct.

I recommend starting with a meteorb for running NM and Hell Meph if you soley want a char to get gear with. (I remember dying counless times with my meteorb in SC when I was a first class n00b, now I'd probably get her through to Hell Meph).

A Blizzard sorc is better for Mephy, but you gotta get there first and that's a problem in HC with a single tree killer.

A fishymancer is, of course, the best. Much up to taste though. I get confused and my comp is coping badly, so I don't have one.
And those hammers for the hammerdin...either you can aim them or not, I can't. :)

Welcome! Check out the build guides in the sticky post Single Player FAQ. Something there will surely appeal to you. Also just browse through the threads on the SP forum. Everything here (or nearly everything) relates to SP instead of battlenet. Who knows -- you might prefer to do multiplayer games with SPFers when you get your internet up.

well right now i have a lvl 65 barb that i just made he was just thrown together i didn't know much about the game. now what is the command for sure? i have heard /player8 /player 8 /players8 and /players 8 . how do i know if it worked? also i have read all the different builds and i think a necro would be cool but the don't get very good items i don't think i think the barb and the pally get the cool things. (correct me if im wrong please) also how are they for multi player? and i need something that is going to be uber in hell mode because my barb get killed a lot in act 1 hell also i think a sorc would be hard in hell being everything is immune to something.

It's /players 8

It then should say players set to 8 , a fishymancer can solo hell without any items.

As for sorc metoer/orb sorcs works really well.

Aman

so i just press enter type /players 8 then enter again.

it must not work on 1.09 mode cause i tried it last night and it didn't work i downloaded the new on on a disk today so im going to try to install it tonight

I believe in 1.09 you leave off the forward slash. Also, I think the max player setting in 1.09 is 64, whereas it is 8 in 1.10 and 1.11.

Also, if your Barb is level 65 enterering hell you would definatley want to go back to nightmare and level to 75ish. At 65 your chararacter level is way below the monster level in act1 hell, which makes your chance to hit very poor.

Welcome to the forums!

Just to clarify everyone else's responses about multiple players commands:
v1.09b - command is "playersx" where x is a no. between 1 and 64
v1.09d - command is "playersx" where x is a no. between 1 and 8
v1.10 & v1.11 - command is "/playersx" where x is a no. between 1 and 8.

As you say, press enter, tpe the command (minus the quote marks) relevant to the version you're using and hit enter again. In v1.09 (any of them) there is no confirmatory message, in v1.10 onwards it will say "players set to x"

ok, what about playing hardcore is there much advantage to this? if so what? also should i even upgrade to 1.11?

Advantage? Depends on how you view the game. It makes the game more challenging as once the character is dead it is dead. Means it could be a long time before you ever face Hell Baal (er... come to think of it I haven't got that far in softcore yet!) but there is no difference in game mechanics. Probably worth experimenting a bit with SC first (e.g. play a character through Hell difficulty) before trying HC but it's entirely up to you.

As for whether it is worth upgrading to v1.11... Check the sticky at the top of the front page for detailed notes (should be a summary on the last page of that by Cattleya) but essentially it fixes the FE bug, introduces some new runewords, gives the Countess, Nhilathak and the Summoner a chance to drop keys in Hell (completely useless in SP) and removed the charged synergy bug. Basically unless you are planning on making a build that requires use of the charged synergy bug to do well (Bonemancer & Elemental Druid seem the only real candidates) then there is no real reason not to upgrade. Equally if the FE bug doesn't bother you (admittedly if you're playing a Hardcore melee character it is almost certain to bother you...), you're not planning on using the new runewords and aren't MP'ing with people then there's also no real reason TO upgrade. One of the joys of SP - if you don't like the changes made by a new patch then you don't have to play it and can stick with a patch that you do like!

Enjoy your stay here!
