Need advice on gambling

Clvl75 barb with Honor Divine scepter and Honor Twin Axe.
I need a cruel elite while running countess for Oath and finding the base for it.
I was trying to gamble War axes but not a single Berserker axe in 500 gambles.
Am I batter off with gambling for double axes or other lower base item to get an elite one?

I am aware that I can shop Larzuk, but that's another story. I have no better use for my excess gold than gambling, and since I started from scratch and have no good charms yet, I get lots of gold from 30-35K items.

Re: Need advice on gambling

The odds to gamble a berserker axe with cruel prifix are real low. Having that said you have a chance to get a nice rare too ofcourse.
If i were you i would stick to nightmare baals for a bit longer untill you get something better then those honor runewords. Then return to countess runs and pit runs to find the runes for oath. (btw i'm sure you can pick up mal runes in nightmare too in A5)

Of course I will stay in NM for a while yet, it makes no sense to go in Hell with Honor exceptional items.

My question was how to make best use of the gold I get anyway. 2-3 pindle runs get me easily 100K.

Should I aim for Berserker axes, or I have better chance of gambling lower end elite?

Re: Need advice on gambling

If you're going to gamble, best bet is on circlets as they have the potential to get spawns higher than your current level - assuming you're on bnet a quality circlet will definitely pay off more.

I considered this option, but at the moment I have Sigon gloves + Helm - gives me 600 AR, 30 IAS and 10 LL.
I can't change my current setup, unless I find LoH or other nice gloves.

Besides I play SP only, no trades.

So I need to gamble a weapon, the question is which base type is likely to give best results.

I have nice rare rings so no gamble for rings makes sence. Also I do not think a lucky gamble for boots, belt, armor or amulet will give me much of an advantage.

Re: Need advice on gambling

at lvl 75 ,i think you can gamble weapons with cruel (need a confirmation on that).

but always keep in mind, you can upgrade the rare weapon (waraxe or naga) to berserker. do not sell a waraxe with 450ed just because it is not berserker axe:D

havenot played SP for some time so dont know if it is possible to upgrade exc => elite with cube in SP. there were some mods to enable this cube recipe though.

one suggestion (i also did same this ladder), play a bit in hell, you can find a good base weapon for honor in very early hell areas. clear the mauseluoms (dont know how to write) in blood raven cemetary. forexample, a 5os scourge will help you a lot even with honor.

Re: Need advice on gambling

All ladder content except torch/anni is available in SP.

What mastery have you chosen? Axe? In that case, the divine scepter doesn't do you as much good as it could. And vice versa.

I'd bite the pain and shop larzuk for *ANY* high damage 1h axe, and be off to hell to level some more. The odds of gamles upgrading to elite will increase with higher level.

IIRC, NM vendors cannot sell elite items (gambling is the exception), but a cruel Naga should very well be possible. Fools ... of quickness could even be acceptable.

NM baal can also drop some interesting weapons, noteably Nord's, Razor's Edge, Demonlimb, Headstriker, Ginther's (better be eth), and rares.

Worst case, buff your merc up real good and take on hell slowly, pixel by pixel.

Re: Need advice on gambling

Honestly considering your gear, I'd spend more time mfing and less time worried about what you're gambling - if anything mule the gold with atma or gomule if you really want to save it for a rainy day.

People often forget that there are some decent items that fall well in NM - the only reason I don't even switch up anymore is because my main characters have nice map rolls and I can't bear to switch the difficulty.
